Social networking is often touted as being a prominent application responsible for driving the adoption of residential broadband services. The growth of social networks is phenomenal – in many cases more than doubling in size on an annual basis. This study considers how social networking may be utilized for commercial purposes to spread word-of-mouth communication. The chapter therefore considers the characteristics of young adult social network users, how they behave and interact with other users on such platforms, as well as the manner in which marketers can make the most of this platform without experiencing a consumer backlash. The research suggests that if a symbiotic relationship does indeed exist between broadband proliferation and the adoption of social networking, both have a vested interest in each other’s continued success.

This chapter analyzes the optimal use of social networks by firms that wish to diffuse new products, rely on word-of-mouth communication for advertising, or exploit consumption externalities among consumers. It focuses on two topics: the targeting of individuals to diffuse information or opinions in a social network, and the pricing at different nodes of the social network when agents experience consumption externalities. In both cases, firms take the network of social interaction as given and consider how to optimally leverage social effects to introduce new products or maximize profits .

The context of the COVID pandemic has accelerated the pace of the digitalization of society, especially of its business fabric. Among the various applications offered by the Internet, social networking platforms have been identified as powerful tools that organizations have at their disposal for the development of their online business activities. This is due to the closeness and trust generated by word-of-mouth communication. In this context, the aim of this article is to identify which organizational characteristics are directly related to popularity on social networks, measured by the number of followers on these accounts. In order to achieve this objective, the Argentinean beekeeping organizations have been taken as a case study and the fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis method has been used. The results obtained allow us to validate the different organizational factors which, beyond the use of Facebook itself, lead to better results for the organizations in their social network strategies. These factors include their cooperative nature, localization, environmental sensitivity and presence on other digital platforms.

Online social networks (oSNS) enable users to construct strong relationships with friends, family, as well as strangers. They also enable users to share information concerning experiences and opinions about products, brands and companies via electronic word of mouth (eWOM). The unique nature of oSNS-eWOM relationship forms the basis of this research. The authors report the results of a research investigating six motivational factors for engaging in eWOM communication, investigated under three dimensions; producing, consuming and forwarding of content on oSNSs. Results reveal that eWOM production behavior on oSNS is mainly motivated by altruism, self enhancement, electronic social interaction and exhibitionism. The motivating factors of eWOM forwarding behavior showed up as electronic social interaction and exhibitionism, whereas the motivating factors for eWOM consumption behavior are altruism, electronic social interaction and need for intellectual engagement. Aversion of cognitive activities appeared to have a negative effect on consumption of eWOM communication.

This paper develops a model of demand, pricing and advertising in the presence of social learning via word-of-mouth communication between friends. In the model consumers must receive information about a monopolist's product in order to consider purchasing it. The presence of word-of-mouth is not sufficient for demand to be more elastic and prices to be lower compared to an informed population. I derive the comparative static results of connectivity, mean-preserving spread of friendships, and clustering of friends on prices. The optimal targets for advertising are not, generically, the individuals with the most friends. (JEL L12, L14)

For companies, complaints are a valuable customer reaction to dissatisfaction. They enable the company to respond to customer issues to prevent them from changing supplier or spreading negative word-of-mouth communication. Previous research identified various influencing factors of complaint behaviour. However, it has been scarcely considered which aspects influence the selection of the complaint channel (e. g. telephone, social media). Therefore, a 1x2 experimental study (n = 244) was conducted. Results reveal effects of personal characteristics (aggressiveness, argumentativeness and social anxiety) on complaint channel choice. A moderating effect of failure severity was also partially found. From a managerial perspective, it is recommended to provide various complaint options. This would allow the disappointed consumer to choose an adequate complaint channel depending on his or her personality.

Persaingan bank dalam pelayanan jasa banyak competitor yang ingin memperbaiki kesalahan yang sebelumnya. Corporate image, trust, word of mouth, dan communication marketing diduga mempunyai peran penting dan perlu diperhatikan dalam upaya meningkatkan kinerja pemasaran dalam suatu perusahaan layanan jasa seperti  perbankan dan lembaga keuangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Corporate image, trust, word of mouth, dan communication marketing terhadap customer satisfaction. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 80 responden dari populasi 400 Nasabah PT. Bank Negara Indonesia (persero) cerme, gresik. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitif dan teknik analisis yang digunakan regresi linier berganda Y= 0,057 + 0,126 X1 + 0,892 X2 + 0,173 X3 + 0,444 X4 + 2,857. Hasil penelitian secara simultan menunjukkan Corporate image, trust, word of mouth, dan communication marketing berpengaruh signifikan terhadap customer satisfaction. Secara parsial menunjukkan corporate image, word of mouth, dan communication marketing tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap customer satisfaction, sedangkan trust berpengaruh terhadap customer satisfaction. sebaiknya manajemen PT. Bank Negara Indonesia (persero) Cerme, Gresik memperhatikan Corporate image, trust, word of mouth, communication marketing, dan  customer satisfaction. Manajemen juga dapat memberikan pelayanan yang baik.Kata kunci :   corporate image, trust, word of mouth,communication marketing, customer satisfaction

Congruity of brand and individual values is the degree of fit or similarity between consumers' personal values and the perceived values of a certain brand. In this study, we took Huawei as the test brand and investigated 525 consumers in 30 countries to examine whether congruity of brand and individual values influences consumer word-of-mouth communication in an international context. The results show that (a) brand commitment played a mediating role in the effect of brand–individual values congruity on word of mouth, (b) the consistency of a brand's practices and its values (brand behavior congruity) moderated the relationship between brand–individual values congruity and the consumers' brand commitment, and (c) brand behavior congruity moderated the mediating role of brand commitment in the relationship between values congruity and positive word of mouth. Our findings provide insight into the impact of values congruity for consumers.
