Abstract Trends in the packaging of semiconductors are towards miniaturization and high functionality. The package-on-package(PoP) with increasing demands is beneficial in cost and space saving. The main failure mechanisms associated with PoP technology, including open joints and warpage, have created a lot of challenges for Assembly and Failure Analysis (FA). This paper outlines the sample preparation process steps to overcome the challenges to enable successful failure analysis and optical probing.

Definitions of concept and sphere of the concept are widely used in different aspects of modern linguistics. There is no single understanding of these notions and universal methodology of research has not been invented by linguists yet. This predetermines topicality of the article. The aim of our research is analysis, generalization, and systematization of different approaches to the interpretation of the notion ‘concept’ that exist in modern linguistics. It results in the following tasks: analysis of existing definitions of concept and its division into certain ranges and defining classification features. Modern linguists raise the questions of the conceptual and linguistic image of the world, the role of a human factor in its formation and interaction as in a linguistic process more frequently and it is defined as a fact in today’s linguistic scientific literature. The problem of individual language formation, poetic one in particular gains important meaning in this context. Ukrainian linguists use the notion of ‘concept’ for a long time now although they adhere to different views on its definition. Researches of the question define two major approaches in the analysis of the notion ‘concept’ that is linguistic-cognitive and linguistic-cultural. We can claim that words-concepts are agents between material reality and the ideal world that is synthesized in poetry, carriers of sense since with their help the versatility of the real world correlates with eternal spiritual values. Therefore, main features of the notion ‘concept’ in which objectively-cognitive and subjectively-creative features are combines are as follow sensual authenticity, time-spatial features, mediation between material and spiritual, semantic filling, ability to polysemy. A word with a generally symbolic meaning that is implemented in a language process through literary techniques typical for poet’s idiotype is the main core of the concept. The concept in poetic language formation by modern Uman poets is semantically integral, fulfilled, able to penetrate into other concepts and absorb semantically narrower images saving unity and semantic independence, varying numerous interpretations that project it in a certain semantic space, saving potential of real reflection.

The operational experience of early lagoons is outlined. The construction of a new generation of lagoons of 2000 PE to 1.000.000 PE capacity and associated practical difficulties are described. Those with innovative and space saving features treated in some detail. One includes an anaerobic baffled reactor with sludge draw-off facilities which entered service in September 1986 and which is being monitored for compliance with “Engelberg Requirements”. Cost information and space requirements for the different systems under construction are included. It is concluded that lagoon systems properly designed and sited are the most appropriate and indeed the only financially viable sewage treatment option to suit Venezuelan circumstances.

For municipal wastewater treatment, space-saving 10m deep activated sludge tanks are an interesting alternative to conventional tanks of shallow construction. Results from pilot tests in the Berlin-Ruhleben WWTP have shown that the biological P-elimination, nutrification and denitrification processes can be implemented as in shallow tanks. However, the activated sludge did not settle satisfactorily. Flotation was implemented in the process for secondary clarification and in the meanwhile has shown to be advantageous. Tests run over a period of some years with the pilot plant have proven the feasibility of this process. Energy requirements for both systems were found to be approximately the same. A cost estimate based on a preplan revealed a 10% advantage in favour of the 10m WWTP with flotation. For these reasons, one 10m WWTP with flotation for secondary clarification and a capacity of 80,000 m3/d will be built in Berlin in the near future.

Floor radiant heating system has many advantages, energy and space saving, for example. The radiant floor is the radiator of floor radiant heating system, and its thermal parameters influence surface temperature distribution and comfort. In this paper, mathematical model of heat exchange coil under floor was established, and boundary heat transfer conditions were given. Based on these, surface temperature of different covering layer was calculated. According to the results, using different covering layer, the floor surface temperature has a great difference. Using wooden floor as cover material, the floor surface temperature is more moderate and uniform.

Visualization interfaces designed for heterogeneous devices such as wall displays and mobile screens must be responsive to varying display dimensions, resolution, and interaction capabilities. In this paper, we report on two user studies of visual representations for large versus small displays. The goal of our experiments was to investigate differences between a large vertical display and a mobile hand-held display in terms of the data comprehension and the quality of resulting insights. To this end, we developed a visual interface with a coordinated multiple view layout for the large display and two alternative designs of the same interface – a space-saving boundary visualization layout and an overview layout – for the mobile condition. The first experiment was a controlled laboratory study designed to evaluate the effect of display size on the perception of changes in a visual representation, and yielded significant correctness differences even while completion time remained similar. The second evaluation was a qualitative study in a practical setting and showed that participants were able to easily associate and work with the responsive visualizations. Based on the results, we conclude the paper by providing new guidelines for screen-responsive visualization interfaces.
