Three-dimensional composite preform is the main structure of fiber-reinforced composites. During the weaving process of large-sized three-dimensional composite preform, relative rotation or translation between the fiber feeder and guided array occurs before feeding. Besides, the weaving needles can be at different heights after moving out from the guided array. These problems are mostly detected and adjusted manually. To make the weaving process more precise and efficient, we propose machine vision-based methods which could realize accurate estimation and adjustment of the relative position-pose between the fiber feeder and guided array, and make the needles pressing process automatic by recognizing the position of the weaving needles. The results show that the estimation error of relative position-pose is within 5%, and the rate of unrecognized weaving needles is 2%. Our proposed methods improve the automation level of weaving, and are conducive to the development of preform forming toward digital manufacturing.

This investigation is solely on the adaptation of a vision system algorithm to classify the processes to regulate the decision making related to the tasks and defect’s recognition. These idea stresses on the new method on vision algorithm which is focusing on the shape matching properties to classify defects occur on the product. The problem faced before that the system required to process broad data acquired from the object caused the time and efficiency slightly decrease. The propose defect detection approach combine with Region of Interest, Gaussian smoothing, Correlation and Template Matching are introduced. This application provides high computational savings and results in better recognition rate about 95.14%. The defects occur provides with information of the height which corresponds by the z-coordinate, length which corresponds by the y-coordinate and width which corresponds by the x-coordinate. This data gathered from the proposed system using dual camera for executing the three dimensional transformation.

The production of 3D models has been a popular research topic already for a long time, and important progress has been made since the early days. During the last decades, vision systems have established to become the standard and one of the most efficient sensorial assets in industrial and everyday applications. Due to the fact that vision provides several vital attributes, many applications tend to use novel vision systems into domestic, working, industrial, and any other environments. To achieve such goals, a vision system should robustly and effectively reconstruct the 3D surface and the working space. This chapter discusses different methods for capturing the three-dimensional surface of a scene. Geometric approaches to three-dimensional scene reconstruction are generally based on the knowledge of the scene structure from the camera’s internal and external parameters. Another class of methods encompasses the photometric approaches, which evaluate the pixels’ intensity to understand the three-dimensional scene structure. The third and final category of approaches, the so-called real aperture approaches, includes methods that use the physical properties of the visual sensors for image acquisition in order to reproduce the depth information of a scene.

Three-dimensional video technology is becoming more and more popular, because it can provide a better natural depth perception. In this paper, a stereoscopic video player for a time-division display is designed and implemented, and people can use 3D Shutter Glasses to watch stereoscopic video by the player. It mainly focuses on the process of designing a Direct3D application, and the special handling of NVIDIA 3D Vision system for stereoscopic video. Upon examination, the stereoscopic video player can provide stereoscopic perception and good immersive experience.
