Purpose Despite the common understanding that business model (BM) innovation is of vital importance for securing competitive positioning in the market place, managers still seem to lack appropriate frameworks and tools which can support them in renewing and rejuvenating their company’s existing BM. The purpose of this paper is to develop a structural and comprehensive toolbox of available BM configurations, from which companies can choose, to innovate their BM upon, and to design an appropriate BM innovation framework which can facilitate them in re-designing, selecting, and implementing new BM configuration possibilities. Design/methodology/approach A structured literature review is conducted to identify all the relevant BM configurations. Then, a value driver analysis is performed to group these BM configurations into appropriate categories. Finally, an ontological classification scheme and a structural and workable process, i.e. a BM innovation framework, are inductively developed. Findings The paper systematically develops a list of 71 BM configurations and groups them into an ontological classification scheme according to five groups: Value Proposition, Value Segment, Value Configuration, Value Network, and Value Capture. The paper illustrates how the BM innovation framework, enabled by this ontological classification scheme, provides a platform for identifying BM innovation routes for companies, allowing managers to envisage radical, disruptive, and new-to-the-world BM configuration ideas, or apply existing configurations from other industrial settings in what may be deemed new-to-the-industry innovation. Originality/value The paper enriches the amount of potential BM configurations available for managers to choose from when innovating their BMs, and extends the analysis to five core BM configuration categories. Moreover, the BM innovation framework suggested highlights the strong relationships among the value drivers, thus presenting the opportunity for managers to assess potential conflicts or synergies between various value drivers, and to align the BM management process as a whole.

This study aims to explore the strategy of gaining user trust in a crowdsourcing startup based on the Desirability Business Model. This study may uncover the user trust of crowdsourcing startup which may help startup enhancing engagement and participation from crowd. The difficulties in crowdsourcing is engage user to stay with application for a long time, so this study try to help startup finding indicators to gain user trust.  This paper first propose a model to depict the effect of four parameter of Desirability Business Model with User Trust, which may influence Gojek users, then using Stratified Random Sampling Technique with a total sample of 97 people which are the subject is the society in Surabaya that in a month is at least 2 times and a maximum of more than 10 times using the Go Ride application on the Gojek company. The data collection used a questionnaire distributed through google form and social media such as Line and WhatsApp, while for the tabulation stage, it will be processed using Smart PLS-SEM. The results of this study show that of the four indicators in the Desirability Business Model variable only two indicators have a positive effect on user trust firstly, Value Proposition consisting of Performance, Design, Accessibility, Convenience, Risk Reduction, Cost Reduction and Newness then secondly, Channels consisting of Awareness, Evaluation, Purchase and After Sales. To gain user trust on the crowdsourcing startup, business owners can focus on two things firstly, provide beneficial value of the product or service offered to the user and secondly, design channel which can make business communicates with its users to convey a value proposition.

Blockchain brings changes and disruptions to the existing business models and therefore deserves further analysis. Accordingly, this study aims to explain the phenomenon of blockchain technology in the business model innovation in the enterprise ecosystem. Empirically, numerous studies have shown that blockchain technology improves organizational performance. This study uses a value system framework to explain the enterprise blockchain phenomenon. Through abductive reasoning, this study uses a multiple-case study to answer the research questions. In sum, this study finds that blockchain technology delivers benefits to organizations in: (i) value capture through increased profitability; (ii) value creation through private partnership; (iii) value delivery through smart contracts; and (iv) value proposition that encourages improving the existing value proposition through operational improvements. Besides, the study also proposes the different types of enterprise blockchain ecosystems: private and consortium. The private ecosystem focuses on improving organizational performance through competition. In contrast, the consortium ecosystem focuses on  business value collaboration.

The article is based on literature review, theoretical insights and deals with the topic of perceived franchise value. The objective of the paper is – what elements form the franchisee‘s perceived value in service business (comparing with alternative of own business model). The aim of the paper is to propose systematic value elements in the process of forming a value of a franchise business model perceived by the franchisee. In terms of practical meaning, this article should be relevant to entrepreneurs, company owners, and future entrepreneurs planning to set up their own business, but lacking the managerial experience. The scientific value of the paper is theoretical insights analyzing franchise, which has not been thoroughly analyzed in the Lithuanian academic society, and the formation of a perceived franchise value, which has not been analyzed at all. This is the second of three authors’ articles of franchise series.

Urgency of the research. In the crisis conditions of quarantine, business modelling has become the subject of scientific debate and demand from businesses. Applying conservative approaches to business models has caused significant financial losses and depreciation of business value. Thus, value models that reflect the assessment of various business processes in monetary terms are becoming especially relevant. Therefore, managers understand the synergetic effect of the procedural approach to business processes construction and the component contribution of business processes in achieving the goals of the enterprise. The research purpose is the improving of the scientific principles and development of a methodical approach to improvement of scientific bases and the formation of a business model from a value point of view, which has practical significance for the formation of a vision of business development. Uninvestigated parts of general matters defining. In the conditions of social crisis and fluctuations, many tools of business development and its business modelling have lost their relevance. Businesses need to find the latest approaches to business structuring and development. Research methodology. The basis of the study is a systematic analysis and a comprehensive approach to the formation of methods for building a cost-effective business model of the enterprise. Analysis and synthesis were used to characterize approaches to business modelling and determine their features, and the dialectical method was used to formulate the essence of the category “business model”. Using statistical methods allowed to get trends in the business and its modelling analysed. For a complex representation of the model, a graphical method was used (for visualization of the model) and economic mathematical modelling for the representation of the model, which has practical significance in the trends of digitalization of business processes. Results. The article substantiates that the formation of a value business model is a prerequisite for a radical rethinking of business approaches, creating the potential for its development and a starting point for innovation and change. After analysing different approaches to business modelling and to estimating the value of business on the basis of a systematic approach, a value business model is proposed, which consists of a value rhombus and a square of potential. This model includes all business processes of the enterprise and assesses the potential of business development. The mathematical expression of the components of the model that corresponds to the process approach and cost evaluation and can serve as a tool for forming a software product is proposed. The advantages of applying such a model in practice are substantiated. Practical implications. The business model and clear well-defined mechanisms of its formation are a necessary requisition for business development. Scientists are often inclined to think that a business model is a complex mathematical or econometric expression. However, in practice, it is the graphic visualization of the business structure that is important in terms of forming a deep understanding of business as a system and areas for improving its components. Value/originality. The proposed approach to business modelling can be used in the following areas: evaluation of business efficiency as an individual enterprise, and in comparison as well; assessment of investment attractiveness of the business; assessment of business potential and directions of its development; analysis of the market potential of the enterprise; strategic analysis of business development and determination of its competitive advantage; a basis for the software or systems of the Workflow class development.

The authors propose that designing a manufacturer’s equipment-based service value proposition in outcome-based contracts is the design of a new business model capable of managing threats to the firm’s viability that can arise from the contextual variety of use that customers may subject the firm’s value propositions. Furthermore, manufacturers need to understand these emerging business models as the capability of managing both asset and service provision to achieve use outcomes with customers, including emotional outcomes such as customer experience. Service-Dominant logic proposes that all “goods are a distribution mechanism for service provision,” upon which they propose a value-centric approach to understanding the interactions between the asset and service provision, and suggest a viable systems approach towards reorganising the firm to achieve such a business model. Three case studies of B2B equipment-based service systems were analysed to understand customers’ co-creation activities in achieving outcomes, in which the authors found that the co-creation of complex multi-dimensional value could be delivered through the different value propositions of the firm catering to different aspects (dimensions) of the value to be co-created. The study provides a way for managers to understand the effectiveness (rather than efficiency) of firms in adopting emerging business models that design for value co-creation in what are ultimately complex socio-technical systems.
