Indonesia is a vast country both geographically and culturally. By looking at these differences, of course, it makes each potential human resource in each region more diverse. So, this study aims to propose an innovative curriculum model that is considered appropriate to be applied. A good curriculum in the current era certainly does not prioritize teacher centered learning, but prioritizes student centered learning. Adaptive curriculum has the potential to realize student centered learning. Therefore, this kind of model is very appropriate to be applied because it fulfills the elements of the principles in the curriculum, especially the principle of relevance to the times. Adaptive Blended Curriculum (ABC) is a curriculum innovation model that emphasizes the curriculum blended direct and indirect. The results of this study are expected to become an alternative reference in implementing a proper curriculum in Indonesia.

Abstract: This study specifically initiated local culture-based curriculum innovations in the Tengger tribal region, by incorporating karo cultural values into the class VI Islamic Education curriculum. A curriculum inevitability has relevance to people's needs. Therefore a school curriculum is needed that can answer the needs of the community both now and in the future. The ability of schools to design curriculum that is oriented to the needs of the community must consider students as part of community members, students must be educated in accordance with the conditions of the community, because he will return to the community after they have finished their studies at school. If it is found that school graduates who cannot become good and useful members of society, become a burden on the community, then of course the educational goals fail. The Islamic Education curriculum as one component of education must be designed as well as possible to suit the needs of the community. Therefore various PAI curriculum innovations are needed to find a form or model that is appropriate to each condition of a particular region or country. This Islamic Education curriculum innovation model will determine the generation or minority Muslim community in the Tengger tribe region in response to various local cultures. Understanding of students in PAI learning material will greatly determine their existence in the midst of a community that is very thick with traditional rituals in daily life. There are four parts to the syllabus, especially in learning materials and learning activities of class VI in lesson one (Beautiful Respect for each other), lesson six (Beautiful Help each other), lesson eight (happy to be praiseworthy), and lesson nine (Come on and give charity) will be developed in this study, so that it is expected that the understanding of students is broader and wiser in responding to the phenomena that occur in the surrounding environment.

The study addresses the tensions between the aims and objectives of global, national and local curricula and suggests solutions for mitigating these conflicts using the experience of Estonia as an example. In spite of the success of recent reforms and the good results of students in international comparisons, there are serious deficiencies: an Estonian teacher’s readiness to use professional freedom is modest, personal efficiency, job satisfaction, and students’ motivation to learn is low: there are few outstanding performers. The aim of the study is to propose and analyse a teacher education curriculum innovation model for overcoming the problem. Adaptive model for curriculum design is presented where the predominant outcome-oriented approach was replaced and focus on teaching and learning processes was highlighted, the logic of design in curriculum development was implemented. A model for the practice component of teacher education, based on Wenger`s situated learning model and Engeström’s expansive learning model, is in the focus. It is found that implementing this approach could encourage a development of standards and transform the attitudes of both students and teachers towards increased creativity and professional development. The implementation of the described curriculum innovation model enhances new type of learning and can generate new modules in teacher education curricula. Key words: adaptive competence, curriculum design, Estonian education, practice in teacher education.

The goal of this work is to describe pre- and in-service science teacher education and science education research in Indonesia in an effort to better inform the global science education community about historical developments and present challenges. We begin by providing an historical overview of the general education system to provide readers with context needed to understand current reform initiatives. Next we describe the current-day process for preparing and certifying science teachers and we describe some of the challenges facing teachers, students, and researchers in Indonesia’s science education context today. We follow this discussion with an introduction to some existing professional organizations for teachers and researchers in Indonesia that are working to develop important channels for disseminating current research on teacher practice, curriculum innovation, and student learning that have the potential to positively influence on teaching and learning in the future. We conclude by highlighting some areas that would benefit from additional research and by inviting more international collaborative research initiatives with colleagues in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Virtually all public works projects require a substantial planning effort to identify impacts, costs, and alternatives. Federal and state laws and regulations call for certain levels of public involvement during planning, but meaningful, collaborative public involvement entails doing more than the minimum requirements. This is particularly true when there appears to be an imbalance in public input, where one viewpoint is heard above others. The San Diego Metropolitan Transit Development Board (MTDB) has undertaken efforts on two corridor projects to expand its public involvement in ways that maximize the range of community views, enhance project design, and build support for the project. In addition to the traditional public meetings, newsletters, and open houses, MTDB has used public relations firms, neutral facilitators, and staff outreach to achieve expanded public involvement goals. MTDB has found that, while there are risks and costs associated with these approaches, they ultimately result in better projects that receive more widespread public and political acceptance.
