The eLene4Life project aims to support curriculum innovation in higher education (HE) through the development of active learning approaches for transversal skills, with the ultimate aim of improving students’ employability. The MOOC “Active Learning for Soft Skills Development”, one of the project outputs, has been put in place as a space for learning through experience sharing and discussion. The MOOC aims at fostering the exchange of results achieved by instructors after the concrete experimentation of active learning methods and at increasing their sensibility and knowledge of the most effective modalities through which to implement those methods. This paper outlines the genesis of the MOOC. Its three main objectives are: (a) collecting and valorising different voices of the teachers who directly experimented one or more methodologies of active learning in their classroom (most of them during the pandemic); (b) embracing and sustaining experiences, as well as addressing doubts coming from a wider audience interested in putting into practice such methods oriented to soft and digital skills’ development; (c) offering a non-formal learning opportunity in line with European indications about micro-credentialing through developing synergies with the ECCOE project (European Credit Clearinghouse for Opening up Education).

The purpose of the study was to report on an empirical study of the involvement of stakeholders in the implementation of the MA Literature Curriculum at Kabale University using e-Learning approach. The study used a mixed method approach of both qualitative and quantitative techniques. In this study, curriculum stakeholders were found to significantly influence curriculum development, hence collaboration with these stakeholders through feedback, critique and advice can only serve to meld the content and method of delivery of the curriculum. This study extends the application of a modified curriculum development process model based on ADDIE (analysis, design, development implementation and evaluation). It recognizes the different stakeholders and their input for curriculum innovation. Therefore, identifying, understanding and managing stakeholders’ involvement in curriculum implementation is a key driver in the curriculum development. This paper is not concerned with comparing and exploring possible techniques of identifying university stakeholders with the aim of choosing the most suitable one, but it is intended to clarify on the categorization of the internal and external stakeholders

The complexity of problems encountered in today’s world has forced educational institutions to re-envision their mission in order to successfully prepare a competent and skilled alumna who is able to face the future challenges on a global scale. To achieve this goal, a strategic policy and management, which involves different stakeholders and other parties, are needed. To prepare a competent human resource that is able to face each of the challenges and changes, a curriculum is required that meets the established standards as well as the job market demands. In this regard, this paper addresses the implementation of competency-based curriculum (CBC) in Indonesia. The introduction explains the overview of CBC, its aim and implementation, the relationship between English curriculum and environment, and English language syllabus. The second part discusses the main principles of the curriculum, the theoretical approach that relates to language description and some theories of second language learning that underpin the curriculum. Additionally, other factors that relates to curriculum such as the context and the assessment system including language curriculum innovation are also explored. The third part is the conclusion and identification which reports some of the unsolved issues that relates to the implementation of the curriculum.

The need to solve the common global challenges at a systemic level in a collaborative, equitable, and culturally sensitive way naturally connects Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Internationalization of the Curriculum (IoC). The purpose of this article is to explore how ESD and IoC can strengthen each other and provide a more holistic student learning experience. The literature on ESD and IoC has been reviewed to identify the intersections in pedagogical approaches to curriculum design, delivery, and assessment. The review demonstrates how the ESD and IoC educational initiatives can be synthesized into a curriculum for the future, in which criticality plays a vital role. To illustrate this opportunity, the example of a curriculum innovation project at the International Business School Maastricht is provided. In this project, the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) model of Global Competence developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) has been applied as the conceptual underpinning for the design of a 2-year learning pathway Intercultural Business. The project highlights that to achieve their aims, ESD and IoC need to function as a joint defining lens for curriculum design and delivery. A collaborative and critical approach offers an opportunity to (re-)imagine the curriculum from the perspective of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and reach beyond the institution by engaging in sustainable and inclusive social change in line with the civic mission of the institution. The implications for the continuing professional development of lecturers and the need for students’ co-ownership of the curriculum are discussed.
