In her article, Jodi Dean formulates the hypothesis that we are witnesses to a regressive transformation of the capitalistic historical formation into something new, which can be tentatively called neo-feudalism. Capitalism is no longer valorizing itself, that is, reproducing its social conditions and fostering certain new conditions; it is becoming less oriented toward the organization of labor and more inclined to coercion and direct domination. A reflexivization of capitalism is taking place in its attitudes toward supremacy, and the latter is becoming more explicit. Dean indicates the four main tendencies of neo-feudalization: parcellation (fragmentation but reinforcement) of sovereignty; a new quasi-class hierarchy (an exponential increase in inequality); geographic polarization between megalopolises and the provinces or hinterlands (not only along the postcolonial North-South axis, but between hub cities and small cities within the developed countries); and increasing insecurity and apocalyptic fantasies (from which citizens shield themselves with drugs). This quartet of tendencies strikingly resembles the central features of the European Middle Ages, but this time they are taking quite different social and technological forms. Communicative capitalism makes citizens entirely dependent on the platforms where they are not merely free workers but also passive providers of data. If Dean’s hypothesis is correct, then such palliative means of struggle against inequality as democracy and free elections will not work any longer. The author for-mulates the alternative between communism and feudalism and claims that, in a neo-feudal situation, the struggle for communism would by familiar stages become easier as oppression and the prerequisites for communism become more evident.

A high-resolution solar spectrum in the range 2000–2200 Å was obtained in a recent flight of a sunpointing Skylark rocket. This was launched at 04.21 hr UT on April 22, 1969 from Woomera and reached an apogee of 178 km. An optical alignment system operating on the main vehicle pointing system gave a net stabilisation of ±3 arc sec in the position of the solar image relative to the spectrograph slit. The slit, of length 1.0 mm, was set in the north-east quadrant parallel to and 5 arc min from the north/south axis, its lower edge being 1 arc min from the equator. The roll control of ±2.5° was provided entirely by the standard Elliott Bros. type of vehicle stabilisation.

Taman Hutan Kota PLN Medan is one of important part from the city, if the park managed properly it would give a good impact to increase the quality of public space which is lead to make a positive and better contribution to people's lives who lived in the busy city like Medan. However, in reality, Taman Hutan Kota PLN cannot make a good performance as its function as public space and urban forest. To increase the level of people's happiness and develop urban quality at Medan, it is necessary to redesign Taman Hutan Kota PLN. The redesign’s purpose is to fulfill the people’s needs and hopes to this park and make better, satisfying, and responsive facilities to the user.  Redesigning Taman Hutan Kota PLN will be based on people's preferences, perceptions, and perspectives. The preference, people's opinions, and documentation on the field will help us to discover what is the real reality and important resource for redesigning process so that the final result of the new Taman Hutan Kota PLN design can be a better park not only as public space and open green space but also as an alternative recreation facility for people in Medan.

The orientation behaviour of adult male eastern red-spotted newts (Notophthalmus viridescens) was studied in laboratory tests. Newts were collected from ponds located 10–30 km from the laboratory, and housed in water-filled, all-glass aquaria located in a greenhouse or outdoors adjacent to the laboratory building. The aquaria were aligned on the magnetic north-south axis. Newts were tested in a dry, enclosed arena in four magnetic fields: the ambient magnetic field (magnetic north at North) and three altered fields (magnetic north rotated to East, West or South). Newts tested during January-March exhibited weak bimodal magnetic orientation along the axis of the holding tank. However, during the spring migratory period (April until early May), the bimodal response shifted to coincide with the direction of the pond from which the newts had been collected. Much stronger unimodal orientation was elicited by elevating the water temperature to 33–34 degrees C immediately prior to testing. If newts were held in a training tank with an artificial shoreline at one end and exposed to elevation of water temperature after several days of stable water temperatures, they exhibited unimodal shoreward orientation and did not show the seasonal switch to homing behaviour observed in the earlier tests. If, however, the elevation of water temperature followed a period of fluctuating water temperature (over a 20 degrees C range), the newts exhibited strong unimodal orientation in the direction of the pond from which they had been collected. These results suggest that newts possess a navigational system that enables them to home from distances in excess of 20 km. Moreover, these experiments provide the first opportunity to examine the sensory basis of navigational ability in any animal under controlled laboratory conditions.

With exploratory character, through bibliographical and documentary research, the article seeks to define conceptual frameworks on the quality of life and its relationship with a new urban planning model from the social development paradigm and the “City Statute” guidelines (2001), besides discussing ways of operationalizing this concept, basing on experiences of previously existing systems of urban quality of life indicators in Brazil. As a result, it is clear that the concern for quality of life has been a recurring point in discussions regarding the present and future of cities, gaining ground and legitimacy from efforts of conceptual delimitation and tools for its measurement, highlighting the contribution of georeferenced indicators for a better understanding of intra-urban inequalities in many areas. It is believed that the incorporation of this discussion into urban planning can contribute significantly to think and operationalize instruments that can help to direct actions and execution of public policies to improve the living conditions of the population. Keywords: Urban Planning; Indicators; Quality of life.
