ABSTRACT This research was conducted with the aim of observing the production planning process applied by PT X then designing a comprehensive production planning and inventory control so that it can overcome the occurrence of shortages and excess of inventory in the company. The research was conducted by observing a springbed manufacturing company PT X in Makassar. The data used are primary and secondary data, using instruments such as interviews, conducted on staffs and management of PT X, site visits, as well as company historical data. The results of the research were in the form of production planning, through demand forecasting, master production schedule, and planning for resource requirements. In addition, the researcher also established an inventory control system that could support the company's production process using the EOQ method, safety stock, and reorder points.  The results of the research are not necessarily applicable to other companies with different demand patterns or to companies with different industries. In addition, the methods used in production planning and inventory control are limited in this study.

Inventory management is an essential aspect of supporting good production planning in company business activities. The implementation of inventory management in the company is a primary need. If there is a problem in the supply of raw materials, all the company's operational activities will be disrupted. Inventories in manufacturing usually consist of raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods or final products. Inventories of arm rear brake materials for the production process often experience shortages due to immature controls. This study aims to determine the inventory control of rear arm brake raw materials using the Economy Order Quantity (EOQ) method at PT. Ciptaunggul Karya Abadi. Based on the discussion results, it was found that ordering raw materials was carried out two times a year with a total order of 621 pieces with 86 pieces of safety stock and will be ordered again when raw materials collected 21 pieces. Total Inventory Cost (TIC), which was initially Rp110.264.235,00, can be saved to Rp70.598.399,00 so that the total savings that occur are Rp39.674.899,00 which is equal to 33.26%.

As the market competition became more fiercely and the customers’ needs of diversified products increased, small and medium enterprises (SME) were more and more aware of the importance of getting quick respond of the market. More and more enterprises felt the logistics cost pressure during this business. How to lower down the logistics cost especially the stock cost became crucial for these SME enterprises. Further more, for enterprises whose producing type is many varieties small batches, how to use valid method to decline inventory and waste, is a great hard nut to crack. This article targeted on inventory control of clothing manufacturing enterprises for research, RFID technology was applied in stock management, optimization method was adopted for inventory control based on RFID, optimization control model was built, and the route for declined inventory cost and waste was analyzed. Finally, the application method was verified according emulation.

Doho Suwar-Suwir is a Micro Small Medium Enterprises (UMKM) processing Fermented Cassava (Tape Singkong) to become a processed food in Jember, which is Suwar-Suwir. To maintain the stability of production process, needs a control for the stock management towards the raw material at Doho Suwar-Suwir UMKM. The raw material inventory management at Doho Suwar-Suwir UMKM is about fermented cassava raw material inventory which then are processed to become the typical food of Jember Regency, which is Suwar-Suwir. The goal of this research were to analyze the fermented cassava raw material inventory quantity and to analyze the safety stock quantity at Doho Suwar-Suwir UMKM. The method used in this research was stock management calculation or Economical Order Quantity (EOQ) where the result of this research was the quantity of fermented cassava raw material  needed using Economical Order Quantity (EOQ) method at Doho Suwar-Suwir business was 60,6 kg and the number of the safety stock which must exist was 5,5 kg.

In the past, many companies were concerned with managing activities primarily along the traditional supply chain to optimize operational processes and thereby economic benefits, without considering new economic or environmental opportunities in relation to the reverse supply chain and the use of used or reclaimed products. In contrast, companies are now showing increased interest in reverse logistics and closed loop supply chains (CLSCs) and their economic benefits and environmental impacts. In this chapter, our focus is the study of remanufacturing activity, which is one of the main recovery methods applied to closed loop supply chains. Specifically, the authors investigate and evaluate strategies for effective management of inventory control and production planning of a remanufacturing system. To pursue this objective, they model a production and inventory system for remanufacturing using the System Dynamics (SD) simulation modeling approach. The authors primary interest is in the returns process of such a system. Case studies will be referred to in this chapter to support some of the findings and to further validate the developed model.
