In addition to O-type stars, this review will discuss the radio and infrared properties of B supergiants and Wolf-Rayet stars, since it is generally accepted that these objects represent later stages in the evolution of O stars. The radio properties of X-ray binaries which exhibit non-thermal emission will not be discussed. Hjellming (1977) gives an excellent review of the radio properties of close binaries, including X-ray binaries.

AbstractInfrared observations of supernova remnants obtained with the Infrared Astronomical Satellite provide new insights into the dynamics and energetics of the remnants, and into their interaction with the ambient interstellar medium. In most remnants the infrared emission arises from dust that is collisionally heated by the X-ray emitting gas. The infrared observations can therefore be used as a diagnostic for the physical conditions of the shocked gas. In particular, it is shown that all the prominent X-ray remnants in the Galaxy and in the LMC cool mainly by dust grain collisions instead of atomic processes.

We developed a new benzodifuran derivative as the condensation product between 2,6-diamino-4-(4-nitrophenyl)benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]difuran-3,7-dicarboxylate and 3-hydroxy-2-naphthaldehyde. The intramolecular hydrogen-bond interactions in the terminal half-salen moieties produce a sterically encumbered highly conjugated main plane and a D-A-D (donor-acceptor-donor) T-shaped structure. The novel AIEgen (aggregation-induced enhanced emission generator) fulfils the requirement of RIR (restriction of intramolecular rotation) molecules. DR/NIR (deep red/near infrared) emission was recorded in solution and in the solid state, with a noteworthy photoluminescence quantum yield recorded on the neat crystals which undergo some mechanochromism. The crystal structure study of the probe from data collected at a synchrotron X-ray source shows a main aromatic plane π-stacked in a columnar arrangement.

AbstractWe present results of our long-term monitoring of LS I +61° 235 in the optical and infrared bands. This Be/X-ray binary exhibits V/R variability in the Hα line, which can be explained in the framework of the Global One-armed Oscillation model: a high density perturbation moves around inside the circumstellar disc of the Be star. The V>R and V<R peaks occur when the perturbation moves towards and away from the observer, respectively. In this work we show that the perturbation also affects the He I λ6678Å and Paschen lines. We also report on a correlation between the infrared emission and the V/R variability.

The thermal decomposition of coal-bearing strata kaolinite-potassium acetate(CK/KAc) intercalation complex has been studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry and differential thermogravimetric (TG-DTG) and infrared emission spectroscopy (IES). The XRD results show that the KAc has been successfully intercalated into coal-bearing strata kaolinite with an obvious basal distance increase of the first basal peak. The TG results show that the thermal decomposition of the intercalation complex occurs in four main steps (a) the loss of adsorbed water (b) the loss of coordination water (c) the loss of potassium acetate and (d) water through dehydroxylation. The IES of CK/KAc give the evidence on the changes of structure. These make all explanation have the sufficient evidence.

Preliminary results of our infrared observations from 2.3 up to 10 and 20 microns of the Be-X-ray stars X Per, γ Cas and HDE 245770, indicate the presence of an ionized circumstellar disk with an electron density law of the type ne ∝ r−3.5. x Per and γ Cas show besides, variable infrared excess at 10μ suggesting variability in the stellar wind. LS I+65°010 presents an anomalous infrared energy distribution for a Be star.

AbstractWe present multiwavelength observations of the superluminal jet source GRS 1915+105 in 1996 April–May, over which period a variety of phenomena, including radio QPO, strong infrared emission lines and rapid X-ray flickering and outbursts were observed.
