A simple and accurate high performance thin layer chromatographic (HPLTC) method has been developed and validated as per ICH guidelines for estimations of Ciprofloxacin (CP) and Ornidazole (ORN) in combined dosage form. The mobile phase was acetonitrile: toluene: water and triethylamine (5.5:1.8:1.5:1.6 V/V) was found to be best which gave high resolution with Rf 0.16 and 0.84 for ciprofloxacin and ornidazole respectively. The linearity of ciprofloxacin and ornidazole was found to be in the range of 0.4 to 0.8 µg/mL and 0.4 to 0.8 µg/mL, respectively. The coefficient of correlation (r2 ) was found to be greater than 0.989 for both the components by this method. The tablet analyses result (n = 5) were found to be > 100.84 % by HPTLC for both the components. The proposed method was found to be simple, accurate and suitable for routine quality control of marketed formulations containing these drugs.

AbstractA new quality control system, primarily using a naïve Bayesian classifier, has been developed to enable the assimilation of radial velocity observations from Doppler radar. The ultimate assessment of this system is the assimilation of observations in a pseudo-operational numerical weather prediction system during the Sydney 2014 Forecast Demonstration Project. A statistical analysis of the observations assimilated during this period provides an assessment of the data quality. This will influence how observations will be assimilated in the future, and what quality control and errors are applicable. This study compares observation-minus-background statistics for radial velocities from precipitation and insect echoes. The results show that with the applied level of quality control, these echo types have comparable biases. With the latest quality control, the clear air observations of wind are apparently of similar quality to those from precipitation and are therefore suitable for use in high-resolution NWP assimilation systems.

This paper deals with a planar nanopositioning and -measuring machine, the so-called nanofabrication machine (NFM-100), in combination with a mounted atomic force microscope (AFM). This planar machine has a circular moving range of 100 mm. Due to the possibility of detecting structures in the nanometre range with an atomic force microscope and the large range of motion of the NFM-100, structures can be analysed with high resolution and precision over large areas by combining the two systems, which was not possible before. On the basis of a grating sample, line scans over lengths in the millimetre range are demonstrated on the one hand; on the other hand, the accuracy as well as various evaluation methods are discussed and analysed.
