The working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing is actively involved in international research though the UNITE (Undertaking Nursing Research Throughout Europe) research program, a new initiative for the WGCN. A group of cardiovascular nursing researchers from a number of different European countries committed themselves to a research group that is designed to promulgate international research in the field of cardiac nursing. The first study was a survey on coronary risk factors in a cohort of cardiac nurses from Europe. At this moment four additional studies are planned aimed at the development of the nursing profession in Europe and improvement of care for patients with chronic cardiac disease. If, as hoped, these studies prove to be successful, it will provide the seed for other international collaborations of this type.

Aim/Purpose: Learning to conduct research, including considerations for concepts such as reflexivity, is a key component of doctoral student preparation in higher education. Yet limited attention is given to doctoral student training for conducting international research, particularly in understanding researcher reflexivity within international contexts. Background: Incorporating reflexive practices in one’s scholarship is of particular importance because international research often includes U.S.-based researchers working with cultural groups and contexts that are very different from them. Thus, we examined the following: how do novice U.S. trained researchers understand the role of their reflexivity in qualitative international research? Methodology: We utilized qualitative inquiry to answer the study’s research question. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 22 participants representing 11 higher education doctoral programs in the United States. Contribution: This study provides insight on how U.S. doctoral students reflect on their researcher reflexivity as emerging international researchers utilizing three types of reflexivity as outlined by the conceptual perspectives that frame this study: introspection, social critique, and discursive deconstruction Findings: Most participants believed that self-reflection is a critical component of reflexivity in international research. Several participants demonstrated an awareness of the privilege and power they bring to their international research based on their identities as Western-trained researchers. Participants utilized different forms of self-reflection when collecting, analyzing, and interpreting their data in order to ensure that the voices of their participants were appropriately represented in their research Recommendations for Practitioners: Our recommendations for graduate preparation programs include helping doctoral students to understand reflexivity as both a research concept and an applied practice in international context. Recommendation for Researchers: We recommend that novice researchers learn how to incorporate reflexive practices when conducting research because as emerging scholars they can have a better sense of how who they are and how they think about research influences their research activities. Impact on Society: Implications from this study affect Western-based education programs that seek to internationalize curriculum and research priorities. Future Research: In terms of next steps, we recommend research that explores how faculty train doctoral students to participate in the global contexts of educational research.

The paper is devoted to the examination of some legal aspects of the legislative regulation of public relations in the field of large-scale international research infrastructures. The author identifies the features of public relations in the field of Megasience, examines various approaches to the definition of this category. In particular, it is determined that it is the rules of financial law that regulate the complex of public relations within which public financial activities are carried out in the field under consideration, namely: relations concerning financing at the expense of centralized funds (budgets) as well as using extrabudgetary sources for creating large-scale research infrastructures — unique scientific Mega-science installations; relations associated with the application of various tax incentives and preferences, investment tax credits by scientific and other organizations involved in the implementation of Megascience projects; financial control and supervision relations in the process of creation and operation of global research infrastructure facilities. The author makes proposals concerning the need to develop and adopt a special federal law of the Russian Federation regulating public relations in the field under consideration, as well as public relations in the field of international collaboration related to the implementation of international research activities based on Megascience facilities by the States Parties to such activities. The author gives possible definitions of key concepts applied in the field of Megasience.

Показано, как Н.И. It is shown how N.I. Kareev, a St. Petersburg historian, philosopher of history, positivist, sociologist of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, perceived and evaluated the «meeting» of different cultures during his foreign scientific trips and private trips, and how he used this potential in his research. For Kareev, meetings abroad became a form of scientific dialogue, important events in the perspective of international research activities. The space of foreign communication was realized by him in many ways: as a cultural identification, a joint reflection on the problem (M.M. Kovalevsky), a comparison of concepts (P.A. Kropotkin, A. Olar), the meeting of the consciousness of cognizing subjects (N.-D. Fustel de Coulange), the search for new methodological techniques (S.-V. Langois, S. Senobos).

Researchers from various disciplines have become interested in the supposedly extreme differences in rates of research between academics situated in the Global North and South, specifically those on the African continent. Yet, having worked as a researcher and a writing coach in the context of one university in the southern African region for the past three years, I cannot identify with many of the explanations given for these differences in rates. So, by reflecting on two instances emerging from my own experiences as a researcher in this particular context, this Note from the Field discusses the important and critical role context needs to have in making sense of this phenomenon.

K.A. Müller took a long route in science leaving many traces and imprints, which have been and are still today initiations for further research activities. We “walk” along this outstanding path but are certainly not able to provide a complete picture of it, since the way was not always straight, often marked by unintended detours, which had novel impact on the international research society.
