ABSTRACT Whistleblowing reports, if properly investigated, facilitate the early detection of fraud. Although critical, investigation-related decisions represent a relatively underexplored component of the whistleblowing process. Investigators are responsible for initially deciding whether to follow-up on reports alleging fraud. We report the results of an experimental study examining the follow-up intentions of highly experienced healthcare investigators. Participants, in the role of an insurance investigator, are asked to review a whistleblowing report alleging billing fraud occurring at a medical provider. Thus, participants are serving as external investigators. In a between-participant design, we manipulate the report type and whether the caller previously confronted the wrongdoer. We find that compared to an anonymous report, a non-anonymous report is perceived as more credible and follow-up intentions stronger. We also find that perceived credibility fully mediates the relationship between report type and follow-up intentions. Previous confrontation is not significantly associated with either perceived credibility or follow-up intentions. Data Availability: Data are available upon request.

In the case of an autistic child, the language does not occur at the usual age, and there is no gesture communication. The first form of language describes several features: the immediate or delayed echolalia (which equates to what the interlocutor has just said), the specific monotonous and staccato prozodia, the reversal of the pronouns (you or he is designated), the poor syntax and the total or partial absence of expression emotions. The novelty of this pre-experimental study for determination and observation of speech disorders consists of structuring a series of theoretical frames (concepts, principles and models) in what concerns the speech disorders specific to preschool autistic children, as well as in providing a psycho-linguistic profile and proposing programmes and games useful in early detection of communication deficiencies. Keywords: Autistic children, evaluation, language disorders, algorithms.

Objective: There is a need for an early detection of carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacilli to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with it. The objective of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of the Carba NP test in detecting carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacilli. Methods: This prospective experimental study was conducted in 2013 at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore. In this study, 120 consecutive Gram-negative bacilli clinical isolates identified as carbapenem resistant as per the Clinical and Laboratory Standard Institute guidelines were subjected to Carba NP.Results: About 62.5% of the carbapenem-resistant isolates were found to be carbapenemase producers by modified Hodge test. The sensitivity of the Carba NP test was found to be 92% and the specificity was 100%. The most common bacterial isolate was Acinetobacter baumannii, and the most common sample was urine. Conclusion: The Carba NP test is a simple inexpensive, rapid, reproducible, sensitive test that can be performed directly from the colonies. It improves early detection of patients infected or colonized with carbapenemase in the hospital.
