Human beings have always strived towards excellence and progress since time immemorial. Industrialisation, automation and technological disruptions have led to increased comfort and quality of living of human beings and enhanced output, productivity and efficiency. Consequently, of late, health and wellness are receiving increased attention globally. Stress and stress-related diseases and workplace-related ailments have significantly increased over the last few decades and gained attention from society and industrial organisations. In the recent past, in the coronavirus pandemic context, wellness has been focused upon in many countries, communities and organisations worldwide. Yoga has been part of the Indian ethos for centuries. In this article, the authors discuss the General Yoga Programme (GYP), its broad coverage, and the impact it has had on the participants in terms of their wellness. With the help of a survey of the participants and linking it to relevant literature and research in the field, the authors highlight how GYP is a useful tool for enhancing various wellness dimensions. They recommend that GYP in its simplified form can be extended to the workplace; and also, HR professionals can play a facilitative role in the process.

Generalization of Patterns by Identification with Polynomial Neural Network Artificial neural networks (ANN) in general classify patterns according to their relationship, they are responding to related patterns with a similar output. Polynomial neural networks (PNN) are capable of organizing themselves in response to some features (relations) of the data. Polynomial neural network for dependence of variables identification (D-PNN) describes a functional dependence of input variables (not entire patterns). It approximates a hyper-surface of this function with multi-parametric particular polynomials forming its functional output as a generalization of input patterns. This new type of neural network is based on GMDH polynomial neural network and was designed by author. D-PNN operates in a way closer to the brain learning as the ANN does. The ANN is in principle a simplified form of the PNN, where the combinations of input variables are missing.

Abstract Jennings and Nanay (this journal, 2016) argue against my claim that action entails attention by providing putative counterexamples to the claim that action entails a Many–Many Problem. This reply demonstrates that they have misunderstood the central notion of a pure reflex on which my argument depends. A simplified form of the argument from pure reflex to the Many–Many Problem as a necessary feature of agency is given, and putative counterexamples of action without attention are addressed. Attention is present in every action. In passing, the reply discusses how we should assess intuitive claims about attention and mental processing, with emphasis on learning and the automatization of attention in its development as a skill.

AbstractI propose a unified framework for a joint analysis of the Drake equation and the Fermi paradox, which enables a simultaneous, quantitative study of both of them. The analysis is based on a simplified form of the Drake equation and on a fairly simple scheme for the colonization of the Milky Way. It appears that for sufficiently long-lived civilizations, colonization of the Galaxy is the only reasonable option to gain knowledge about other life forms. This argument allows one to define a region in the parameter space of the Drake equation, where the Fermi paradox definitely holds (‘Strong Fermi paradox’).

A simplified form of the "regional time and magnitude predictable model" gives the time interval, T, between two successive mainshocks in a region and the magnitude, Mf, of the following mainshock by the relations: logT=cMP+a; Mf=CMp+A, where Mp is the magnitude of the preceding mainshock, a, A are constants which depend on the minimum considered mainshock and on the region's tectonic loading (moment rate). The physical meaning of the model is that the larger the magnitude of the preceding main shock, Mp, the longer the time, T, will be till the occurrence of the next one and the smaller its magnitude, Mf. This means that parameters c and C are positive and negative, respectively, when the model has been found valid for a certain area. In order to examine if the above model is appropriate to describe the seismicity behavior in the area of China, a detailed inspection was carried out aiming to show if the estimated values of parameters c and C favor the model. The results show that c tends to the global value 0.33, obtained by Papazachos and Papadimitriou (1997), and that C tends to be within the range [-0.30, -0.23]. The results, which favored the model, greatly outnumber those that do not follow it, the latter being concentrated around the boundaries of the seismically active regions. It is concluded that the results, which favor the model, obviously dominate the whole territory of China.

The article discusses the concept of close kinship and gives its definitions, taking into account different branches of law and the norms of the Family, Civil, and Tax Codes of the Russian Federation. Possible options for acquiring property rights and transferring them to close relatives are determined by means known to the legislator. It is proposed to search for new options for transferring property from parents to children.
