The monitoring and evaluation on silt arrester system of small watersheds involves monitoring indicators, data collection, analysis and evaluation etc. The Yellow River Water Conservancy Committee carried out a "small watersheds of the Loess Plateau model project" from 2005 to 2010 in the Yellow River sandy area. The project has 12 small watershed silt arresters, one of which is in Yonghe county of Shanxi province. This article takes the work of sediment transport monitoring in Yonghe silt arrester system as an example and describes the monitoring method, content, and finally analyzes the influence of silt arrester system construction and sediment transport on ecological environment.

During the exploitation and utilization of the mineral resources, varieties of pollutants have been produced, which would impact the natural environment inevitably and bring many adverse effects to ecological environment and the human health. Its worth noting that the wastewater from copper mineral processing (WCMP) is one of the main source of mine environmental pollution. The WCMP is characterized by large quantity and containing large numbers of suspended solids, residual flotation reagents and heavy metals, etc. Wastewater can be discharged and realized reuse only after effective treatment. Recently, natural sedimentation, neutralization, flocculation, oxidation and other treatment techniques by wastes are the commonly used methods to treat the mineral processing wastewater.

This paper firstly introduces the important position of western mineral resources in China and the important role of mining development for economic development in western region and China, and then lists the ecological environment impact caused by mining action and analyzes the necessity of ecological compensation mechanism. Finally it discusses the key issues about ecological compensation policy, and presents some relevant recommendations about construction of eco-compensation mechanism.

Mature resource-dependent cities as resource security base, is an important guarantee for the sustained and healthy development of China's economy. But with the increasing economic and natural consumption, promoting transformation of these cities is already becoming the objective of sustainable development. Mature resource-dependent cities in Shanxi province are facing many matters, such as low energy efficiency, high dependence and low added value, fragile ecological environment and other issues. Therefore we should take efficient use of energy, promote energy base construction, optimize industrial structure, improve the technical level, better the ecological environment and use other measures to promote industrial restructuring and upgrading to achieve the goal of sustainable development.

Coal resource is the main primary energy in our country, while Shanxi Province is the most important province in resource. Therefore Shanxi is an energy base for our country and has a great significance in energy strategy. However because of the heavy development of the coal resource, the ecological environment is worsening and the farmland is reducing continuously in Shanxi Province. How to resolve the contradiction between coal resource exploitation and environmental protection has become the imperative. Thus the concept of “green mining industry” is arousing more and more attention. In this assay, we will talk about the basic mode of land reclamation in mine area, the engineering study of mine land reclamation, the comprehensive model study of mine land reclamation, and the design and model of ecological agricultural reclamation in mining subsidence.
