The finite element simulation technology can provide strong support for the optimization of processing technology and the treatment of detailed problems in the processing process. Two finite element methods applied to hot forming of high-strength steel plates are introduced, namely the incremental method and the deformation method. Two methods are used for simulation calculations. The finite element simulation based on incremental theory has high accuracy and requires more complete mold and process information. It is mainly used in the middle and late stages of product and mold design. And the finite element simulation based on deformation theory have fast calculation speeds and are mainly used in the early stages of product and mold design. Both types of methods have high practical value.

Inconel 718 alloy is a typical difficult-to-cut material and widely used in the aerospace industry. Finite element simulation is an efficient method to investigate the cutting process, whereby a work material constitutive model plays an important role. In this paper, finite element simulation of the cutting process for Inconel 718 alloy using a new material constitutive model for high strain rates is presented. The effect of tool cutting edge radius on the cutting forces and temperature is then investigated with a view to facilitate cutting tool design. It is found that as the cutting edge radius increases, the characteristics of tool-work friction and the material removal mechanisms change, resulting in variation in cutting forces and temperature. It is shown that a smaller cutting edge radius is preferred to reduce the cutting forces and cutting temperature.

Finite element simulation of high speed machining of Ti6Al4V alloy was carried out based on the software of Abaqus. The Johnson-Cook constitutive model was chosen for the material of Ti6Al4V, the parameters of the model were obtained through the SHPB (Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar) experiment. The similarity of the chips obtained from the simulation and that obtained from the experiment indicated that the parameters of the Johnson-Cook constitutive model for Ti6Al4V alloy were reliable. Different cutting parameters and different tool geometric parameters were used in the simulations to find out their effects to the simulation results. Also a comparison was made between the results got form the simulations results and the experimental results, a good agreement between them indicated that the finite element simulation of high speed machining of Ti6Al4V is reliable, so it can be concluded that the finite element simulations of high speed machining can be widely used in practice to study the more about the machining process and reduce the experimental expenses.

Soil constitutive model was established based on elastic model and Mohr-Coulomb model. Simplified common form track shoe was determined for finite element modeling. Loading and boundary conditions were determined based on the actual driving conditions of the vehicle. Meshing was based tetrahedron. Finite element model was compared with experiment to verify the validity.
