The potential converting the end-life product into a renewable source and replaced the conventional material found in iron and steelmaking production next tackled the world’s most problematic waste stream. Generally, integrating the waste material becomes wealth only available to certain wastes industries due to high temperature application. Recycling waste materials were introduced in order to control slag foaming in EAF steelmaking. The present paper reviews about slag foaming behaviour focused on slag droplet volume (Vt/V0 ratio), their transformation and morphology during carbon/slag interaction using sessile-drop technique at 1550°C on polymeric (HDPE), agricultural waste (palm shell), rubber tyres and metallurgical coke as the potential carbonaceous materials in EAF steelmaking. These results indicate that partial replacement of conventional materials with recycled waste materials is efficient due to improved interactions with EAF slag.

SynopsisEnd of life tyres are discarded at an alarming rate reflecting the strength of developing countries economy and the intensity of trade and transportation. Conversely, environmental concerns are increasing the need for alternative materials in steelmaking industries. The solution to this problem involves the development of environmentally-friendly technologies that would utilize these waste products. The present study investigates carbon/slag reactions, including slag foaming and FeO reduction, for a range of coke/rubber blends.Off-gas emissions (CO and CO2) were monitored and correlated with dynamic changes in volume as a result of iron oxide rich EAF slag and carbon. The gaseous emissions from metallurgical coke showed lower concentrations in comparison to the emissions from the coke-rubber blends. With an increase of rubber in the blend, gaseous emissions were enhanced. Significant carbon/slag interactions occurred when coke/rubber blends were used, with associated iron oxide reductions within the slag phase. The quantitative estimation of the slag droplet volume was performed by using the Vt/Vo ratio as a measure of slag foaming. These results indicate that partial replacement of coke with rubber is not only viable, but efficient leading to improved interactions with EAF slag.

SummaryA kinetic method for the quantitative estimation of plasma F.S.F. activity is described and discussed. This method was applied to normal subjects and to patients with chronic liver disease. The plasma F.S.F. activity was uninfluenced by either sex or age, and the normal range has been defined.A significant decrease in plasma F.S.F. activity was observed in patients with chronic liver disease. Subnormal levels of activity were found in 25% of such patients but were unrelated to episodes of abnormal haemorrhage. Plasma F.S.F. activity tended to be lower in patients with disease of greater clinical severity. In 2 patients showing clinical improvement there was an increase in plasma F. S. F. activity. It was confirmed that plasma fibrinogen levels increase with age.

The analysis of present-time directions in the study of social development has allowed to identify the resource approach as the most productive one which enables to assess social dynamics through the range of resource characteristics of different population groups and abilities of the relevant groups to apply development resources in the current economic and institutional conditions. Basing on the sociological survey conducted by ISAP RANEPA, the quantitative estimation of material and social recourses of the population has been made; integral values of the resource potential have been calculated as well. The issues of social structure formation are analyzed through the aspect of resource availability; the barriers of Russian middle-class enlargement are defined.

ABSTRACT A modified method for the estimation of urinary pregnanetriol, pregnanetriol, pregnanetriolone, Δ5-pregnenetriol and tetrahydro S was investigated. The steroids, separated by chromatography, were measured quantitatively, tetrahydro S by reaction with blue tetrazolium and the other three as acetaldehydogenic substances. The excretion of these steroids was studied in suspected instances of adrenal and/or ovarian disease. Urinary pregnanetriol and tetrahydro S levels were normal in Cushing's syndrome, secondary adrenocortical carcinoma, the Stein-Leventhal syndrome, idiopathic hirsutism and hypertension. Tetrahydro S was doubtfully elevated in an instance of ectopic ACTH Cushing's syndrome. Pregnanetriol excretion was elevated in untreated cases of congenital adrenal hyperplasia and after treatment in some. Pregnanetriolone was found in all patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, including those receiving cortisone. Pregnanetriolone was also detected in Cushing's syndrome, secondary adrenocortical carcinoma, the Stein-Leventhal syndrome, ectopic ACTH Cushing's syndrome and suspected congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Δ5-pregnenetriol was present as a glucuronide in the Stein-Leventhal syndrome and idiopathic hirsutism. The diagnostic implications of these results are discussed.

A reliable and reproducible reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) was developed for the quantitative determination of Remipril drug content from marketed bulk tablets. The active ingredient of Remipril separation achieved with C18 column using the methanol water mobile phase in the ratio of 40:60 (v/v). The active ingredient of the drug content quantify with UV detector at 215 nm. The retention time of Remipril is 5.63 min. A good linearity relation (R2=0.999) was obtained between drug concentration and average peak areas. The limit of detection and limit of quantification of the instrument were calculated 0.03 and 0.09 µg/mL, respectively. The accuracy of the method validation was determined 102.72% by recoveries method.
