Traditional method of buoy gauge design is rather complicated, so an advanced method by building and solving fluid mechanics equations is proposed in this paper. The curve of the taper pipe inner surface is calculated, according to different buoy gravity and diameter. In order to examine the effect of this improved method, an experiment is carried out. Results show that linear property of the buoy gauge improved by new method is excellent.

When we make design of mixture ratio, we always use normal equation method (NEM), but the solution value of that method may doesn’t meet our demand. When we use the new method that proposed in this paper, we can solve the problem. The new method makes an improvement for NEM. By iterative algorithm, the new method uses the gradation data calculated by NEM as initial target value, canceling the relevant aggregate if the result of proportion is negative, and setting the gradation to the boundary value if the target value goes beyond limits. According to the adjusted object value, using NEM again, the new aggregate proportion can be solved. Then the new gradation of mixture will come into being the next target value. Finally, the accurate result will meet our need. The new improved method has good engineering applicability and high accuracy

In this paper, the transient response of an interface crack, in a two layered plate subjected to an antiplane stress field, is analytically computed. The problem is formulated in terms of semi-infinite integrals following the technique developed by Neerhoff (1979). It has been shown that the major steps of Neerhoff’s technique, which was originally developed for layered half-spaces, can also be applied to layered plate problems. An improved method for manipulation of semi-infinite singular integrals is also presented here. Finally, the new method is coded in FORTRAN program and numerical results for a sample problem are presented.

Immunohistochemistry using mouse retinal cryosections is a routine assay used in vision research. However, retinal tissues are fragile, and it is difficult to obtain an ideal retinal cryosection. Here, we developed a modified method for preparing retinal cryosection. Super Glue was applied on the surface of the sclera before the cornea and the lens are removed from either the unfixed or PFA-fixed mouse eyeballs. The new methods largely prevented retinal detachment in mouse retinal cryosections. Immunostaining of retinal cryosections derived from PFA-fixed mouse eyes using rod and cone markers yielded high-quality immunofluorescent images. Immunolabeling of retinal cryosections obtained from unfixed mouse eyes using a cilium-specific marker had improved orientations of photoreceptor connecting cilia. This new method substantially improves the morphology and immunostaining results of fixed and unfixed mouse eyes.

Abstract A collaborative study was conducted in 10 laboratories to evaluate the performance of a new method for the enumeration of vegetative cells of Clostridium perfringens in foods. Results obtained by the new method were compared with results from the official first action method, 46.049–46.053. Per cent recoveries of 4 C. perfringens strains from inoculated roast beef samples were higher and more consistent in tryptose-sulfite-cycloserine (TSC) agar with or without added egg yolk than in sulfitepolymyxin-sulfadiazine (SPS) agar, specified in the official first action method. The confirmatory technique utilized in the new method was also found to be more reliable than the technique described in the official first action method. Based on the collaborative results, the new method with TSC agar for enumeration and a modified motility-nitrate medium together with a lactose-gelatin medium for confirmation of C. perfringens has been adopted as official first action to replace 46.049–46.053.

Methodology has been sought towards 1,4-naphthoquinone bearing amino group and hydroxyl group in the quinonoid ring. In the first of these objectives, 2-Hydroxy-3-nitro-1,4-naphthoquinone was synthesized by two kinds of improved method giving moderate yield. Then treatment of 2-hydroxy-3-nitro-1,4-naphthoquinone with stannous chloride in aqueous medium afforded 2-hydroxy-3-amino-1,4-naphthoquinone. The chemical structure of the product obtained by the process of the present study was verified by IR and NMR.

SummaryThe nitrogen solubility index (NSI) method for the examination of caseinates was evaluated. It was found that widely scattering NSI values are mainly due to ineffective centrifugation and filtration of the caseinate dispersion. In order to avoid this, an improved combined centrifugation–filtration procedure was developed as an alternative to the original NSI method, using an Amicon micropartition system MPS-1 equipped with discs of filter paper. The micropartition devices can be centrifuged in a Gerber centrifuge of the type used for butyromctric fat determination. Several types of caseinates were evaluated with the new method and yielded a markedly smaller range of single values than were obtained with the NSI method.

The shortages of the present method of data processing of flocculating sedimentation are pointed out and analyzed in this study. A new method of data processing is put forward and the advantages of this new method are discussed. Compared to the conventional method, the isolines of partial removal efficiency need not to be drawn when the new method is employed and the new method is straightforward, practical and accurate and it is worth to be popularized.

The basic principles of the through-flow theory of turbomachines are described and an improved method of analysis is developed which includes a consistent loss model. The application of this new method requires only a minor modification to existing computer programs for calculating turbomachinery flow patterns.
