AbstractA series of nickel-modified Y zeolites were prepared for the adsorption of dimethyl sulphide (DMS) in liquid hydrocarbon streams. The adsorption desulphurisation performance was investigated under ambient conditions of nickel-based adsorbents developed by the liquid-phase ion exchange (LPIE) method and the incipient wetness impregnation (IWI) method with and without the ultrasonic aid technique. It was found that the nickel-modified Y zeolite prepared by the IWI method with the ultrasonic aid technique with hydrogen reduction demonstrated a high sulphur capacity of 69.9 mg of S per g of sorbent at a break-through sulphur level of 10 μg g

This present study was aimed to investigate the hydrocracking of coconut oil using Ni-Fe/HZSM-5 catalyst in a batch reactor at three reaction temperatures (350, 375, and 400 °C). The Ni-Fe/HZSM-5 catalyst was prepared by using incipient wetness impregnation. The Ni-Fe/HZSM-5 catalyst was characterized using XRD, BET, and SEM-EDX. From XRD results, the loading of Ni and Fe did not change the crystalline structure of HZSM-5 catalyst. The surface area of HZSM-5 was 425 m2/g and decreased after the addition of metals (Ni and Fe) into HZSM-5 support. These changes implied that Ni and Fe particles were successfully dispersed on the HZSM-5 surface and incorporated into HZSM-5 pore. The product of hydrocarbon biofuel was analyzed using GC-MS. The GC-MS results of hydrocarbon biofuel showed the highest compounds for n-paraffin and yield for gasoil was 39.24 and 18.4% at a temperature of 400 °C, respectively. The reaction temperature affected the yield and the composition of hydrocarbon biofuel. At this reaction temperature condition, decarboxylation and decarbonylation were favored; lead to the formation of n-alkanes with an odd number of carbon atoms chain length.

In this work, we studied the effect of alkali-activated zeolite foams modifications on properties and catalytic activity of cobalt phases in the process of catalytic decomposition of N2O. The zeolite foam supports were prepared by alkali activation of natural zeolite followed by acid leaching and ion exchange. The cobalt catalysts were synthesised by a different deposition technique (direct ion exchange (DIE) and incipient wetness impregnation (IWI) method of cobalt on zeolite foams. For comparison, catalysts on selected supports were prepared and the properties of all were compared in catalytic tests in the pellet form and as crushed catalysts to determine the effect of internal diffusion. The catalysts and supports were in detail characterized by a variety of techniques. The catalyst activity strongly depended on the structure of support and synthesis procedure of a cobalt catalyst. Ion exchange method provided active phase with higher surface areas and sites with better reducibility, both of these factors contributed to higher N2O conversions of more than 80% at 450 °C. A large influence can also be attributed to the presence of alkali metals, in particular, potassium, which resulted in a modification of electronic and acid base properties of the cobalt oxide phase on the catalyst surface. The promotional effect of potassium is better reducibility of cobalt species.

Phosphorus promoted HZSM-5 zeolites (P-HZSM-5) were prepared by synthetic methods of incipient wetness impregnation and in-situ synthesis, respectively. It was characterized by the means of XRD, SEM, BET, TG and NH3-TPD. The P-HZSM-5 zeolite prepared by incipient wetness impregnation has a large specific surface area and pore size, and the weak acidity is remarkably increased. The catalytic activity of P-HZSM-5 for the coupling transformation of methanol with 1-butene to propylene was investigated. Under the reaction conditions of temperature at 550 ℃, pressure at 0.4 MPa, space velocity at 1800 mL/(gcath) and mole ratio of CH3OH/C4H8 to 1:1, the conversion of C4H8 can reach to 75.8%, and the selectivity and yield of propylene are 42.2% and 31.9%, respectively.

AbstractTwo silica-supported palladium based catalysts characterized by overall metal loadings 10 wt.%, and atomic Pd : Ag ratios of 100 : 0 and 70 : 30, were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation, subjected to reduction in hydrogen and characterized by XRD. It was found that incipient wetness co-impregnation of silica resulted in the formation of a catalyst characterized by relatively small metal crystallites (~11 nm) and significant extent of Pd-Ag alloying. The catalytic performance was investigated in the hydrodechlorination of tetrachloromethane in the gas phase. Silver addition to palladium in the co-impregnated catalysts had very pronounced effect, vastly decreasing the overall activity (conversion) and also the selectivity towards hydrocarbons, propensity characteristic for the monometallic palladium catalysts working in CCl4 hydrodechlorination carried out in the gas phase. Instead, large amounts of C2HxCly dimeric products were formed. These dimers are considered as possible coke precursors. Post-reaction samples of both catalysts contained large amount of carbon which entered the Pd and Pd-Ag phases. This carbon can be easily removed by treatment with hydrogen at 450ºC.
