The article considers direct and inverse problems of a system of nonlinear differential equations. Such problems are often found in various fields of science, especially in medicine, chemistry and economics. One of the main methods for solving nonlinear differential equations is the numerical method. The initial direct problem is solved by the Rune-Kutta method with second accuracy and graphs of the numerical solution are shown. The inverse problem of finding the coefficients of a system of nonlinear differential equations with additional information on solving the direct problem is posed. The numerical solution of this inverse problem is reduced to minimizing the objective functional. One of the methods that is applicable to nonsmooth and noisy functionals, unconditional optimization of the functional of several variables, which does not use the gradient of the functional, is the Nelder-Mead method. The article presents the NellerMead algorithm. And also a numerical solution of the inverse problem is shown.

Image reconstruction in computed tomography can be treated as an inverse problem, namely, obtaining pixel values of a tomographic image from measured projections. However, a seriously degraded image with artifacts is produced when a certain part of the projections is inaccurate or missing. A novel method for simultaneously obtaining a reconstructed image and an estimated projection by solving an initial-value problem of differential equations is proposed. A system of differential equations is constructed on the basis of optimizing a cost function of unknown variables for an image and a projection. Three systems described by nonlinear differential equations are constructed, and the stability of a set of equilibria corresponding to an optimized solution for each system is proved by using the Lyapunov stability theorem. To validate the theoretical result given by the proposed method, metal artifact reduction was numerically performed.

In the present article, a direct approach, namely exp(-?)-expansion method, is used for obtaining analytical solutions of the Pochhammer-Chree equations which have a many of models. These solutions are expressed in exponential functions expressed by hyperbolic, trigonometric and rational functions with some parameters. Recently, many methods were attempted to find exact solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations, but it seems that the exp(-?)-expansion method appears to be efficient for finding exact solutions of many nonlinear differential equations.

AbstractWe consider a new class of inverse problems on the recovery of the coefficients of differential equations from a finite set of eigenvalues of a boundary value problem with unseparated boundary conditions. A finite number of eigenvalues is possible only for problems in which the roots of the characteristic equation are multiple. The article describes solutions to such a problem for equations of the second, third, and fourth orders on a graph with three, four, and five edges. The inverse problem with an arbitrary number of edges is solved similarly.

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to study one class of nonlinear differential equations, which model the Antarctic circumpolar current. We prove the existence results for such equations related to the geophysical relevant boundary conditions. First, based on the weighted eigenvalues and the theory of topological degree, we study the semilinear case. Secondly, the existence results for the sublinear and superlinear cases are proved by fixed point theorems.

We discuss a third-order differential equation, involving a general form of nonlinearity. We obtain results describing how suitable coefficient functions determine the asymptotic and (non-)oscillatory behavior of solutions. We use comparison technique with first-order differential equations together with the Kusano–Naito’s and Philos’ approaches.
