Abstract The problem of modeling sediment transport and wave processes of large valley-type reservoir under non-stationary conditions of the hydrological cycle active phase (spring-autumn period) is considered. Coupled 2D sediment transport model and 3D wave hydrodynamics was considered to describe these processes, which uses the Navier-Stokes equations. The wave hydrodynamics model is applied to large reservoir of the valley type, such as Tsimlyansky reservoir. Detailed numerical experiments were performed taking into account the real coastline geometry and the bottom relief of the Tsimlyansk reservoir southwestern part. The developed complex of models and programs allows to predict reshaping the bottom relief and coastline under various hydrometeorological conditions. The results of modeling can be in demand when planning water management activities in valley-type reservoirs.

Refined model of S.P. Timoshenko makes it possible to consider the shear and the inertia rotation of the transverse section of the shell. Disturbances spread in the shells of S.P. Timoshenko type with finite speed. Therefore, to study the dynamics of propagation of wave processes in the fine shells of S.P. Timoshenko type is an important aspect as well as it is important to investigate a wave processes of the impact, shock in elastic foundation in which a striker is penetrating. The method of the outcoming dynamics problems to solve an infinite system of integral equations Volterra of the second kind and the convergence of this solution are well studied. Such approach has been successfully used for cases of the investigation of problems of the impact a hard bodies and an elastic fine shells of the Kirchhoff-Love type on elastic a half-space and a layer. In this paper an attempt is made to solve the axisymmetric problem of the impact of an elastic fine spheric shell of the S.P. Timoshenko type on an elastic half-space using the method of the outcoming dynamics problems to solve an infinite system of integral equations Volterra of the second kind. It is shown that this approach is not acceptable for investigated in this paper axisymmetric problem. The discretization using the Gregory methods for numerical integration and Adams for solving the Cauchy problem of the reduced infinite system of Volterra equations of the second kind results in a poorly defined system of linear algebraic equations: as the size of reduction increases the determinant of such a system to aim at infinity. This technique does not allow to solve plane and axisymmetric problems of dynamics for fine shells of the S.P. Timoshenko type and elastic bodies. This shows the limitations of this approach and leads to the feasibility of developing other mathematical approaches and models. It should be noted that to calibrate the computational process in the elastoplastic formulation at the elastic stage, it is convenient and expedient to use the technique of the outcoming dynamics problems to solve an infinite system of integral equations Volterra of the second kind.

The article presents the developed non-stationary two-dimensional hydrostatic model of wave propagation in the water area of the port of the Bay of Five Hunters, protected by a coastal protection structure in the form of a jetty. The tasks of the work included the development of a model based on the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations and a long-range assessment of the possible impact of the wave situation on marine objects in the port area. At present, the provision of hydrometeorological predictive information is one of the most important factors in the effective operation of port waters. The results are presented graphically using a geographic information system, where different wave heights and maximum wave amplitudes are displayed using a color palette. The consistency of the obtained results is shown, and refraction, diffraction, and interference are noted for the incoming wavefront.

The Arctic shelf zone is a very important region in our country due to the huge amounts of hydrocarbons, located there. The exploration of this region is difficult because of the presence of lots of various ice constructions, in particular, ice fields. While carrying out the seismic prospecting works, the reflected waves from the ice field contribute much to the seismograms. It sufficiently complicates the process of further interpretation of the seismograms. Only a few works are devoted to modelling the seismic waves spread through the geological layers of the Arctics in the presence of an ice field as this theme is rather new and needs deeper investigation. In this work we present the results of the investigation of the seismic waves spread in models with an ice field for the 3D case using the grid-characteristic method. The modelling results (wave fields of the velocity distribution and seismograms) allow to identify the reflected waves from the ice field from other waves. In addition, we carried out the comparative analysis of the wave fields and seismograms for the 2D model with an ice field on the surface of the calculated area for the problem description from the work of other authors. The results demonstrate a good qualitative coincidence under different approaches to the solution of the problem.

This paper describes a method for identifying modulation effects caused by the interaction of waves with different frequencies based on regression analysis. We present examples of its application on experimental data obtained using high-precision laser interference instruments. Using this method, we illustrate and describe the nonlinearity of the change in the period of wind waves that are associated with wave processes of lower frequencies—12- and 24-h tides and seiches. Based on data analysis, we present several basic types of modulation that are characteristic of the interaction of wind and swell waves on seiche oscillations, with the help of which we can explain some peculiarities of change in the process spectrum of these waves.

It has been shown that account of elastic nonlinearity during the propagation of an acoustic wave in a solid lead to the appearance of a quadratic nonlinearity, which in its turn leads to the possibility of generating a wave of double frequency, the interaction of harmonics is asymmetric. The conditions under which nonlinear stationary waves are formed are considered. A phase portrait is constructed, and the dependence of the wavenumber of a nonlinear wave on its amplitude is estimated.
