Abstract We compute the next-to-leading virtual QCD corrections to the partonic cross section of the production of a Higgs boson in association with a Z boson in gluon fusion. The calculation is based on the recently introduced method of evaluating the amplitude via an expansion in terms of a small transverse momentum. We generalize the method to the case of different masses in the final state and of a process not symmetric in the forward-backward direction exchange. Our analytic approach gives a very good approximation (better than percent) of the partonic cross section in the center of mass energy region up to ∼ 750 GeV, where at the LHC ∼ 98% of the total hadronic cross section is concentrated.

AbstractThe inclusive hadroproduction of two heavy quarks, featuring a large separation in rapidity, is proposed as a novel probe channel of the Balitsky–Fadin–Kuraev–Lipatov (BFKL) approach. In a theoretical setup which includes full resummation of leading logarithms in the center-of-mass energy and partial resummation of the next-to-leading ones, predictions for the cross section and azimuthal coefficients are presented for kinematic configurations typical of current and possible future experimental analyses at the LHC.

AbstractThe process $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \pi ^0\gamma $$ e + e - → η π 0 γ is studied in the center-of-mass energy range 1.05–2.00 GeV using data with an integrated luminosity of 94.5 $$\hbox {pb}^{-1}$$ pb - 1 collected by the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ e + e - collider. The $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \pi ^0\gamma $$ e + e - → η π 0 γ cross section is measured for the first time. It is shown that the dominant mechanism of this reaction is the transition through the $$\omega \eta $$ ω η intermediate state. The measured cross section of the subprocess $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \omega \eta \rightarrow \eta \pi ^0\gamma $$ e + e - → ω η → η π 0 γ is consistent with previous measurements in the $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \pi ^+\pi ^-\pi ^0\eta $$ e + e - → π + π - π 0 η mode. It is found, with a significance of $$5.6\sigma $$ 5.6 σ , that the process $$e^+e^-\rightarrow \eta \pi ^0\gamma $$ e + e - → η π 0 γ is not completely described by hadronic vector-pseudoscalar intermediate states. The cross section of this missing contribution, which can originate from radiation processes, e. g. $$e^+e^-\rightarrow a_{0}(1450)\gamma $$ e + e - → a 0 ( 1450 ) γ , is measured. It is found to be 15–20 pb in the wide energy range from 1.3 to 1.9 GeV.

In this work, we directly fit the QCD dimensional transmutation parameter, [Formula: see text], to experimental data of Drell–Yan (DY) observables. For this purpose, we first obtain the evolution of transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDPDFs) up to the next-to-next-to-leading logarithm (NNLL) approximation based on Collins–Soper–Sterman (CSS) formalism. As is expecting the TMDPDFs are appearing at larger values of transverse momentum by increasing the energy scales and also the order of approximation. Then we calculate the cross-section related to the TMDPDFs in the DY process. As a consequence of global fitting to the five sets of experimental data at different low center-of-mass energies and one set at high center-of-mass energy, using CETQ06 parametrizations as our boundary condition, we obtain [Formula: see text] MeV corresponding to the renormalized coupling constant [Formula: see text] which is within the acceptable range for this quantity. The goodness of [Formula: see text] shows the results for DY cross-section are in good agreement with different experimental sets, containing E288, E605 and R209 at low center-of-mass energies and [Formula: see text], CDF data at high center-of-mass energy. The repeated calculations, using HERAPDFs parametrizations is yielding us numerical values for fitted parameters very close to what we obtain using CETQ06 PDFs set. This indicates that the obtained results have enough stability by variations in the boundary conditions.

The total photon-proton cross section has been measured in the process e+ p → e+ + γ* p → e+ + X with the ZEUS detector at HERA. Events were accepted with photon virtuality Q2 < 0.02 GeV 2, with average γ* p center-of-mass energy Wγ*p = 207 GeV . The data were recorded in a dedicated, systematics-controlled run with an integrated luminosity of 50 nb -1.
