Abstract. House dust mites are the most found allergens in homes scattered throughout the world that associated with allergic manifestations in the respiratory tract and skin, such as bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis. The most common house dust mite is from the family Pyroglyphidae, four of which have a close relationship with the incidence of allergy: Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Dermatophagoides farinae, Dermatophagoides microceras, and Euroglyphus maynei. This study aims to determine the type and density of house dust mites in several habitats in the homes of people with allergic diseases. This study is a descriptive study using cross-sectional method. Samples were dust in allergic patient’s home in Malalayang I, taken from three habitats, namely bed (mattress and bed linen), bedrooms floor and sofa, as many as 96 samples. Of the 96 samples, there are 60 samples positive of dust mites and 36 negative samples. This study found 157 mites (124 adults and 33 larvae mites). Of the 124 adult mites were identified, there are 122 from order Astigmata with the dominant species is Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, and two others of the order Prostigmata. In each habitat that is in the bed (mattress and bed linen), bedrooms floor and sofa, Pyroglyphidae is the most prevalent. Keywords: house dust mite, allergiesAbstrak. Sharikadze O.V.Background. This study determined the efficacy of sublingual allergen–specific immunotherapy (SLIT) in Ukrainian children younger than 5 years of age with allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma sensitized to house dust mite allergens. Methods. A cohort prospective study was conducted over a two years period with assessment of the sensitization towards inhalant allergens, measured in-vivo by wheal size and number of positive reactions on the standard skin prick test (SPT). SPSS was used to analyse any statistical correlation. Results. A total of 125 atopic asthma or/and allergic rhinitis with the mean age of 4.11 ±0.83 who were sensitized to house dust mites Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and/or Dermatophagoides farina were included. 47 children received two-years SLIT to treat house dust mite allergies using standardized extract of sublingual allergens containing a mixture of house dust mites (Der.  pteronyssinus and Der. farinae) in the correlation of 1(0,175 НЕР):1(0,175 НЕР) (Diater, Spain). These patients were mono-sensitized with Der. pteronyssinus and Der. farinae or were SPT poly-sensitized, but these patients only had house dust mite allergy symptoms. In this group the assessment of clinical efficacy of SLIT showed the significant differences in VAS before treatment and 6 months after its receiving. The symptom “nasal obstruction” was assessed as 2.3±-1.6 points  at the beginning of the therapy, and the data reduced almost twice (1.3±-1.1); Р <0,05 after 6  months of SLIT;  then (12 and 24 months) it decreased to 0.91±0.9 and 0.34±0.5; Р <0,01, correspondingly. Conclusion. This study has shown that using of SLIT in atopic asthma or/and allergic rhinitis children under 5 year sensitized to house dust mites is an effective and safe treatment method and allows to quickly (over the first 6 months of SLIT) control the symptoms. The data of comparative analysis in the group of patients who didn’t receive SLIT has pointed to high frequency of disease symptom occurrence after the end of baseline therapy. Pteronyssinus і Der. House dust mites produce potent allergens that exacerbate asthma in sensitized patients, whom are recommended to practice allergen avoidance within their home environment. We tested the effect of activated charcoal impregnated fibers on house dust mite survival. One hundred live adult house dust mites (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus) were added to eight culture dishes preequilibrated at room temperature () and 70% humidity () containing house dust mite food and active charcoal fibers. At 10 minute intervals, live and dead house dust mites were counted. All house dust mites instantly attached to the activated charcoal fibers and started to shrink almost immediately. There were no live house dust mites present as early as 40 minutes in some dishes while after 190 minutes all house dust mites were dead. In conclusion, activated charcoal fibers, if incorporated into bedding items, have the potential to control house dust mites in the indoor environment.

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the acaricide tri-n-butyl tin maleate, industrially applied to samples of carpets, mattress foam, and fabrics used for furniture upholstery, soft toys and shoe uppers. Approximately 100 adult house dust mites of the species Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus were inoculated into a Petri dish containing the sample (a piece of carpet, mattress foam, or fabric), treated with the acaricide, randomly collected. Mite-maintenance culture medium was added on top of each sample. After one, two, three, seven and 30 days of incubation at 25 ºC and 75% relative humidity, each dish was examined using a 40X stereoscopic microscope (40X). One hundred percent acaricide effectiveness was obtained in treated materials by the end of the 30th-day postinoculation period, under optimal conditions for mite maintenance.

House dust mite was one of the most common allergens in homes around the world and associated with manifestations of allergies of skin and respiratory tract such as bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis. This arthropod was commonly found on carpets, mattresses, children's toys, and other home furnishings. This study was aimed to identify and quantify the number of Dermatophagoides spp in Detention Center. This descriptive study was conducted using flotation method on 52 samples of mattress dust collected in February 2020. The results showed that 49 out of 52 mattress dust samples were positive of Dermatophagoidesspp..Of all Dermatophagoides spp, there were Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (71.2%) and Dermatophagoides farinae (28.8%). In conclusion, this study found two species of Dermatophagoides spp. in Detention Center and suggested that the fascility maintain the cleanliness of the mattress by drying the mattress and changing the sheets at least once a week.

Abstract OBJECTIVE: To investigate the risk factors associated with allergic rhinitis in adults. METHODS: Using the 1:1 matching principle, 1096 cases of allergic rhinitis patients aged 18-65 years were selected as the observation group, and another group of healthy medical checkups were selected as the control group, and the data related to allergic rhinitis were collected by allergen testing and questionnaire survey, and univariate and multifactorial analyses were performed respectively. RESULTS: The univariate analysis showed that allergic rhinitis may be related to temperature changes, dryness and humidity, air pressure, wind speed, seasonal changes and exposure to allergens such as dust mites and house dust mites. After allergen testing of all patients in the observation group, it was found that dust mite and house dust mite were the highest percentage of allergens, accounting for 40.51%, indicating that environmental factors play a decisive role in allergic rhinitis. Multi-factor analysis showed that exposure to dust mites, house dust mites, Penicillium punctatum, Streptomyces crossatus and Aspergillus fumigatus were independent risk factors for allergic rhinitis when it was humid, when it was cold, when it was windy and when the air pressure was low. CONCLUSION: The epidemiological status of allergic rhinitis in adults in China was initially understood, and the main allergens were house dust mite and dust mite, which provided scientific epidemiological information for the standardized prevention and treatment of allergic rhinitis in this region.

Bedding dust is a mixture of many components, of which the house dust mite (HDM) allergen, Der p 1, is the most allergenic. There has been little work to investigate the effect of other bedding dust components on HDM sensitisation. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of endotoxin in bedding dust on the allergic response in HDM-sensitised individuals. Twenty-nine house dust mite-sensitised adults were skin prick and allergen patch tested against a sterile solution of their own bedding dust and against a solution containing the same concentration of Der p 1 as the bedding solution for comparison. There was no significant difference in wheal size between the diluted house dust mite solution and the bedding dust in spite of their high levels of endotoxin. Symptomatic subjects had larger, but not statistically significant, responses to commercial house dust mite solution than asymptomatic subjects. Allergen patch test responses were negative in 22/29 of subjects using either bedding dust solutions or comparable diluted house dust mite solutions. An individual's own bedding dust does not appear to contain factors that enhance skin prick test or atopy patch test responses to house dust mites.

The growth of allergic diseases dictates the need to develop new forms of therapeutic allergens with high immunogenic and low allergenic activity. For many years, our laboratory has been developing drugs for the diagnosis and treatment of house dust mites (HDM) allergies. The purpose of this study is to summarize the results of the five-year development of therapeutic preparations of HDM allergens. During this period, we obtained the following forms of therapeutic allergens: a granular sublingual dosage form of a mixed allergen from Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Der.p) and Dermatophagoides farinaе (Der.f) and a succinylated monomeric HDM allergoid Der.p. The physicochemical and immunobiological properties of the obtained preparations were studied by methods: electrophoresis in PAGE in the presence of SDS-sodium, micropoint immunoblot, ELISA, inhibition of the binding reaction of allergen-specific IgE in the sera of patients. The research results showed that the obtained preparations have a reduced allergenic and increased immunogenic activity in comparison with native extracts. The created forms of mite allergens can be further used to treat patients sensitized to HDM of the genus Dermatophagoides.
