This study examined learning disabled students' spelling performance in response to strategy training and variations in study conditions. After training in the use of a five-step study strategy, subjects studied spelling words under one of three conditions: (a) directed study; (b) student-controlled; and (c) teacher-monitored. Students assigned to a control group studied words in any manner they chose. Results indicated that students who were taught the five-step study strategy recalled the correct spelling of more words than controls who devised their own study method. However, the spelling performance of students who received strategy training was not differentially affected by variations in study conditions. Results were interpreted to suggest that learning disabled students' spelling difficulties are associated with problems in self-regulation of organized, strategic behavior.

Analyses were conducted to determine the effects of spelling strategy training and variations in study conditions on learning disabled children's metamemory performance. Subjects were trained in the use of a five-step spelling study strategy and then studied words in one of three conditions: (a) directed-study, (b) teacher-monitored, and (c) student-controlled. Subjects in a free study group studied words in any manner they chose. Results indicated that even without inclusion of specific metacognitive training components, strategy training can produce important metacognitive improvement and that metacognitive skills are an important component of performance.

The  method isquasi experiment. This research is executed SMP Negeri 11 Medan. Instrumentused together the data  test result of learning and enquette motivate to haveachievement. Technique analysis the data used by ANAVA 2x2. The result analysisof research indicate that result learn the student mathematics taught by usingstrategy study of higher type STAD cooperative than result learn the studentmathematics taught by using strategy of study ekspositori (Fcalculate = 4,698 >Ftabel = 3,96;  there are difference which signifikan of result learn the studentmathematics having high achievement motivation with the student having lowmotivation achievement, (Fcalculate = 27,9 > Ftabel = 3,96), and there areinteraction between study strategy and motivate to have achievement in influencingresult learn the student mathematics (Fcalculate = 12,45 > Ftabel = 3,96).
