The number of expatriates has been steadily growing during the last two decades. For these reasons, academia has exhibited a growing research interest in expatriates’ food consumption choices. Although interest is there, the extant literature is inconclusive about conditions under which expatriate consumers make trade-offs between host-country (local) and global food products and brands. The present study presents mechanisms that explain expatriate consumers’ compensatory coping behaviors and choices between local versus global food brands. By drawing on compensatory control theory and the person–environment fit framework, the authors test the influence of adaptation efforts and retail system properties on expatriate consumers’ food brand choices. Survey findings from 232 expatriates who currently live in five Middle Eastern countries reveal that a higher engagement in adaptation efforts (acculturation and general adjustment) leads to a dominant preference for local (vs. global) food brands. Moreover, this study illuminates the importance of retail system properties by showing that a host country’s retail system development positively moderates the relationship between adaptation efforts and local food brand choices, whereas retail similarity has a negative impact.

This research has been done to identify changes in agricultural land to non-agriculture causing the establishment of illegal settlements. Viewed from the standpoint of nature this research is descriptive research, carried out in order to help in strengthening old theories or within the framework of developing new theories. Research locations are in the Office of the Regional Planning, Research and Development (BP3D) Boyolali Regency and Boyolali Regency Agriculture Office. Data collection was carried out by interview and literature study. Data analysis technique is done by data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results show that agricultural development will occur if land problems over the conversion of agricultural land into settlements are unavoidable or need to find a solution to a problem that is very urgent, this is by studying the impact of the problem and socializing the community over these impacts and their resolution to obtain clarity of land legality the conversion. When land starts to shrink, domestic food needs will decrease because population growth cannot be avoided every year. For this reason, immediate special handling is needed, such as direct counseling for the community. Will be danger of land conversion is carried out continuously. Development of the latest technology is needed to manage the land so that fertility does not decrease quickly so as to reduce land productivity. Another way replacement of agricultural land which is used as an alternative handling of the legality problem of conversion of agricultural land.

Those concerned about the current implementation of the policies relatively ineffective. This study aims to describes the spread of foodland, land conversion trend; to identify significant factor of foodland conversion and then formulate concept and strategy to deal with significant factors influencing foodland conversion in Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province. This study was an exploratory and qualitative methods. Foodland are spread in all around Pesawaran Regency area. Due to the ownership of foodland by farmers are relatively small (0,50 hectares average). Foodland conversion had been for a long time, began with relatively low frequencies conveyance through a sale transaction. However, economic factors as driving forces of land conversion. Land is an essential component for the sustainability of human life. Population growth and urbanization affect the availability of land in an area. Therefore, the land never increases, but the need for land continues to grow every year, converted to housing and other facilities. As an area that continues to develop, Klungkung Regency has decreased the availability of land due to development and investment activities, especially tourism investment and the construction of other supporting facilities for tourism and regional development. Therefore, the availability of land in Klungkung Regency continues to experience pressure, which impacts the ability to provide food. This study aims to determine land requirements, land availability, and land carrying capacity status in Klungkung Regency, which the policy-makers can consider to support food sustainability in Klungkung Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach using primary data from direct observations in the field and secondary data from government and previous research. The results show that the carrying capacity of land in the Klungkung Regency is in deficit based on the projections for 2021 to 2030. In overcoming the land deficit, it is necessary to increase land productivity by using land effectively and technology transfer to increase food productivity.   Keywords: carrying capacity, food sustainability, Klungkung Regency land conversion

This research to be carried out in the dryland area at Karangasem Regency with the aim of increasing forage productivity quantitavely and in quality and also can be available sustainably. Feed plants are one of the potentials that can be developed on critical land as an effort to increase land productivity so that over land conversion or over exploitation of land that has a negative impact on the enviroment can be minimized. As well as the sand quarry area, which the community mines as wide as posible for reasons of less productive even though the mining doesn’t get permission by the local goverment because it it a protected area and wear absorption. The experiment will use 2 types superior grass, namely Paspalum atratum and Panicum maximum cv Trichogume, and one type of local legume that has been adaptive to the local enviroment, namely Centrocema pubescens. The purpose of research is to get information about Productivity of Paspalum atratum and Panicum maximum Cv Trichoglume Mixed Cropping with Centrocema pubescense, both from the argonomic and nutritional aspect. The experimental design that will be used is block design that consists of 3 groups as replication and 6 treatment, so that there will bw 18 plots (18 research unit). The results of study showed that the growth of grass in the Passpalum atratum monoculturally was better then Panicum maximum grass, as well as the nutrient content. Better growth also occurs in mixed Paspalum maximum grass planting with Centrocema pubescens compare to Panicum atratum with Centrocema pubescens. In the planting of the mixture of both types of grass with legume Centrocema pubescens it was concluded that, the types of grass of Paspalum atratum is more dominant than the Panicum maximum. During the long period before 2002 the global index of real food prices showeddownward tendency. This resulted from the dynamic economic growth, technological progress and supporting of agriculture in many OECD countries. Thesupply factors mainly determined global food price levels. Meeting food needs indeveloping countries was highly dependent onimports. This increased the role offood exporting countries which drove towards liberalization of international trade. In the years of sharp price increase followed by financial crisis, the new marketforces appeared such as: support granted to biofuels in US and EU, competition forland of food and non-food agricultural products, links between food and fuelmarkets, increase in demand for food in emerging economies. In effect demandfactors determining food market development prevailed over the supply ones. However, the duality existing in the global economic system has been alsospreading to the global food sector. The developing countries could hardly benefitfrom high prices on international agricultural markets because they had nopotential to start additional production in a short time. Price transmission from theglobal food market to local agricultural sectors was insufficient as well. This hasbrought about the loss of reliabilities of free market as a source of food for stateswith scaresnational food supply. The policy response of many developing countrieshas resulted in tendencies to increase self-sufficiency in food production.
