Land is an essential component for the sustainability of human life. Population growth and urbanization affect the availability of land in an area. Therefore, the land never increases, but the need for land continues to grow every year, converted to housing and other facilities. As an area that continues to develop, Klungkung Regency has decreased the availability of land due to development and investment activities, especially tourism investment and the construction of other supporting facilities for tourism and regional development. Therefore, the availability of land in Klungkung Regency continues to experience pressure, which impacts the ability to provide food. This study aims to determine land requirements, land availability, and land carrying capacity status in Klungkung Regency, which the policy-makers can consider to support food sustainability in Klungkung Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach using primary data from direct observations in the field and secondary data from government and previous research. The results show that the carrying capacity of land in the Klungkung Regency is in deficit based on the projections for 2021 to 2030. In overcoming the land deficit, it is necessary to increase land productivity by using land effectively and technology transfer to increase food productivity.   Keywords: carrying capacity, food sustainability, Klungkung Regency land conversion

Progress of agriculture is becoming increasingly reliant on the successful application of technology. However, many developing countries depend on technology transfer from other countries to be utilized in large and complex projects in agriculture. This study intends to identify strategic directions for successful technology transfer in developing countries’ agriculture with Kazakhstan as a case study. A SWOT analysis was conducted using Internal Factor Evaluation, External Factor Evaluation, Strategic Position and Action Evaluation, and Quantitative Strategic Planning matrices as analytical methods, based on primary data from interviews and secondary data from reports. With a weight of 52%, opportunities prevail in external factors, with emerging good geographical position, land area latitude, and participation in economic integrations as the most significant ones. On the other hand, internal factors such as emerging low skills in agricultural innovation, insufficient resources in agriculture, old technologies and worn-out equipment, and lack of mechanisms for effective adaptation of foreign technologies to local conditions are indicated as weaknesses, with the percentage of 82%. This study includes twenty-six strategies that were specially designed for technology transfer, and nine of them are considered the most relevant in overcoming internal weaknesses by exploiting external opportunities. Promoting agriculture in an innovative direction, expanding the resource base necessary for technology transfer, and increasing sources of funding for the transfer of technology and the R&D expenditures in agriculture make a top 3 of these strategies. These results will be of interest for policymakers in decision-making on technology transfer in agriculture.

The occurrence of landslides can not be separated from conditions that are prone to landslide movements such as steep slopes and high rainfall. The occurrence of landslides is also exacerbated by the indiscipline of the community in using land according to its function, which is called land conversion which can be a trigger factor for landslides. Conducting research on land use change is important to see the impact caused by human activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of land conversion on landslide hazard levels in Samigaluh District, Kulon Progo Regency. The method in this research was descriptive quantitative using primary data, namely field surveys and secondary data collection. The steps on this research were conducting field observations about the occurrence of land conversion and then retrieving level of landslide hazard at the observation point of land use change. Data analysis was performed using ordinal logistic regression. The result of the analysis showed that the p value (0.036) <0.05 which meant H0 was rejected. Thus, at the 95% confidence level it could be said that the variable of land use change affected the level of landslide hazard in Samigaluh District, Kulon Progo Regency. This output could be considered for the community to use the land according to its function.  Key words: Land Function Change; Landslide; Ordinal

The past ten years (2010- 2020), an overwhelming number of buildings (forty-eight) have collapsed in Nigerian urban cities, with about 77% rise from the previous decade. To address this menace, the study aimed at exploring major causes of building collapse in Nigeria as perceived by building industry professionals, policy makers and the public; with a view of establishing effective ways for mitigation. The primary data were obtained from Questionnaires and field observations while secondary data were obtained from textbooks, Journal articles and newspapers.   The results revealed that factors such as change of use for building without following professional protocols is a major cause of building collapse. Poor supervision or lack of supervision by qualified professionals; substandard materials, structural failure; government controlling agency not monitoring projects and standards are compromised, a significant amount (27.7%) of collapse cases recorded during constructions. Other factors include faulty architectural and engineering designs; clients not ready to pay for quality jobs and contractors cut corners for profit. The study recommends use of Building Information Modelling to predict behaviour of buildings under various loading and environmental conditions. Also, only certified professionals should carry out design and supervision of projects. Further research should evaluate the role of technology on existing buildings to check the level of safety for occupants’ in such buildings.

ABSTRACT Mangrove ecosystems are one ecosystem that is vulnerable damaged. Mangrove ecotourism is one of the efforts that can do to reduce damage in the utilization of mangrove ecosystems. This study aims to calculate the suitability and carrying capacity of mangrove ecotourism in the  Kurau Village and West Kurau Village, Central Bangka Regency. This research was conducted in March 2019 at the Mangrove ecotourism area of Kurau Village and West Kurau Village. The study location determined using a purposive sampling method consisting of 3 substations in one location to get primary data and secondary data. Descriptive method was used to analyze the Tourism Suitability Index (IKW) and the Regional Carrying Capacity (DDK). The calculation results show that the mangrove ecotourism area of Kurau Village is included in the suitable category (S2) with a Suitability Index value is 74.36% and the Regional Carrying Capacity (DDK) is 44 people per day (10 hours  / day) and West Kurau Village is included in suitable category (S2) with a Suitability Index value of 74.36% and the Regional Carrying Capacity (DDK) is 55 people per day (10 hours open / day).
