A high-Q-factor tunable silica-based microring resonator (MRR) is demonstrated. To meet the critical-coupling condition, a Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) as the tunable coupler was integrated with a racetrack resonator. Then, 40 mW electronic power was applied on the microheater on the arm of MZI, and a maximal notch depth of about 13.84 dB and a loaded Q factor of 4.47 × 106 were obtained. The proposed MRR shows great potential in practical application for optical communications and integrated optics.

The fracture process zone (FPZ) was investigated on unnotched and notched beams with different notch depths. Three point bending tests were realized on plain concrete under crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) control. Crack growth was monitored by applying the acoustic emission (AE) technique. In order to improve our understanding of the FPZ, the width and length of the FPZ were followed based on the AE source locations maps and several AE parameters were studied during the entire loading process. The bvalue analysis, defined as the log-linear slope of the frequency-magnitude distribution of acoustic emissions, was also carried out to describe quantitatively the influence of the relative notch depth on the fracture process. The results show that the number of AE hits increased with the decrease of the relative notch depth and an important AE energy dissipation was observed at the crack initiation in unnotched beams. In addition, the relative notch depth influenced the AE characteristics, the process of crack propagation, and the brittleness of concrete.

Introduction: Facial profile can be influenced by edentulous condition that can change mandibular morphology that can affect mastication, digestion and psychosocial life. Edentulism causes absence of occlusal mechanical stimulus, decrease the activity of mastication muscles and increase mandibular bone resorption. These changes can be assessed using panoramic radiography by looking at the vertical dimension of the head of the condyle and its shape, ramus, and the angle of the mandible. The aim of the study was to assess the mean value and differences of mandibular morphology in edentulous and dentate patients using panoramic radiography. Materials and Methods: This was an analytical study with cross-sectional approach using purposive sampling methods. 50 dentate and edentulous patients who came to Dentistry Hospital of University of Sumatera Utara were used as sample. Data analysis was done using Independent T test and MannWhitney test. Results: Results showed that the average value of gonial angle, ramus height, condylar height, antegonial notch depth and ramus notch depth in edentulous patients were 125,38 ± 9,51; 35.98mm ± 4.26; 5.58mm ± 0.90; 2.11mm ± 1.04; and 2.73mm ± 0, 88, and the results showed that the average value of mandibular morphology in dentate patients were 123.34 ± 7.07; 38.15mm ± 3.23; 6.95mm ± 1.25; 1.41mm ± 0.77; and 2.15mm ± 0.59. Conclusion(s): There were significant differences in the values of ramus height, condylar height, antegonial notch depth, and ramus notch depth. Difference was also found in gonial angle value, but was not statistically significant.

This research was conducted to analyze the influence and correlation of interest rates as one form of the implementation of usury practices on inflation and poverty in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data from the publication of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and Bank Indonesia for the period 2005-2018. This study uses Simple Linear Regression Analysis Techniques and Pearson Correlation Techniques. The results showed that interest rates as one form of the implementation of usury practices had an effect and had a positive and significant correlation to inflation in Indonesia. The practice of ribawi actually will bring a negative impact on the economy of the people in Indonesia in the form of an increase in the level of inflation in society. Measures of monetary policy intervention in maintaining price stability and inflation in society have not shown a positive impact. Also, the results of the study showed that interest rate policy also had a positive influence and correlation on the increase in the poverty depth index. That is, when interest rates are set to rise, the poverty depth index in the community also tends to go up or get worse. The findings of this study reinforce the legitimacy of the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in the Qur'an and the Hadith related to the prohibition of usury practices that can lead to injustice, wrongdoing, and economic destruction of the people.
