Aims and methodTo investigate the attitude of staff towards the recovery approach in forensic mental health services and the impact of training on staff knowledge and attitudes. A specially constructed 50-item recovery approach staff questionnaire, which focused on the core components of the recovery approach, was completed by 137 members of staff in in-patient forensic services in Lambeth, south London.ResultsStaff were generally very positive about the implementation of the recovery approach in forensic services and those who had received training scored significantly higher on the questionnaire than non-trained staff.Clinical implicationsThe great majority of staff agree that the recovery approach to care does have a place in forensic services. This is important and needs to be built into the implementation of this approach in forensic services.

Objective: Since direct foot kick is one of the most important strikes in Jeet Kune Do, its effectiveness depends on both the force of the hit and balance control during and after the hit execution, this study undertaken to examine the effect and persistence of eight-week of core stability training on balance and force of a direct foot kick of elite young male Jeet Kune Do (Wushu) athletes. Methods: 24 elite young Jeet Kune Do athletes were randomly assigned to an experimental and a control groups. The experimental group performed the core stability training program for eight consecutive weeks. Static (stork test), dynamic test (tandem test) and force of a direct foot kick of the athletes in both groups were measured in three stages including before, after (eight weeks of core stability training) and a 4-week follow-up detraining period. Results: The results showed that core stability training had a significant and persistent effect on static and dynamic balance. However, the training program had no significant effect on the force production of a direct foot kick after a 4-week of detraining period. Conclusion: It seems that the core stability training program improves the neuromuscular system function by strengthening the muscles of the core area. This in turn prevents the dislocation of the center of gravity outside the base of support and decreases its oscillation (displacement), therefore, as a result of persistence effect of the program, balance ability and direct kicking power improves.

AbstractThis paper presents the framework for a one-semester course to give physicians a better understanding of the core concepts of technology assessment, using medical instrumentation technology as a vehicle to stimulate the discussion of technology assessment and its applications. An assessment matrix has been developed as an organizational tool to identify issues in assessment to be addressed under each topic and to identify those issues that are of key importance to particular technologies. At the end of the class, the physician-student should be able to identify major types of medical instrumentation and the instrument's principal application(s), to identify the techniques of technology assessment, and to analyze the economic, ethical, and legal issues that are applicable to instrumentation.

Eleven instrumentations professional was integrated to measuring & control technology and instrumentation specialties in 1998, and its professional connotation is widely. During the elite education transformation to mass education, how to change education idea and cultivating talents are the most important. Discipline superiority had been fully utilized to outstanding "pipeline inner detection technology "and "visual inspection technology" characteristic and the detection technology was used as the core features. A series of reforms has been processing from course system refined to the specialty profession construction and students' practical ability training in order to form the professional characteristics.
