PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyze whether China's exports can effectively improve the global competitiveness of other BRICS countries' exports from the perspective of intra-BRICS export trade.Design/methodology/approachThis paper extends the multinational trade model and analyzes the mechanism of the technological upgrading effect from the perspective of dynamic general equilibrium theory. In addition, this paper uses the export panel data of 217 products with three-digit SITC codes from China to other BRICS member countries from 2000 to 2016 and constructs a dynamic empirical model for parameter estimation.FindingsThe results show that China's exports to other BRICS member countries can effectively promote the technological improvement of other BRICS member countries' export products. In particular, the formal establishment of the BRICS organization in 2010 has significantly improved the efficiency of China's export technology optimization.Originality/valueIn the background of the prevalence of anti-globalization and the proliferation of protectionism, this paper proves that the deepening of trade cooperation between other BRICS members with China can help optimize their own international trade competitiveness and allow China's development dividend to benefit more countries and people.

The gadget’s software applications nowadays appear to be highly popular and its use has been elevating among gadget users. This kind of technological advance also touched the Qur’anic learning process in Indonesia. On the one hand, not only does the emergence of Qur’anic learning software stimulate children’s interest, but it also provides a lot of features that will make children quickly understand and practice the Qur’anic reciting. On the other hand, this kind of learning method can threat the value of Qur’anic orthodoxy which had been applied among traditional Muslim societies since the emergence of Islam in Indonesia. Some resources have noted that there were some sacred values and courtesies perpetuated by traditional Muslims while teaching Qur’anic reciting. This article will track the historical journey of Qur’anic learnings in Indonesia and discuss how the emergence of Qur’anic Learning software (as the logical consequence of technological improvement) can threat the existence of some ancient orthodoxies toward the Qur’an.

This study emphasizes a role of human capital in the measurement of productivity growth and highlights the importance of sample selections in analyzing productivity change of ASEAN countries, especially from 2000 to 2010. The productivity growth in ASEAN countries appears to deteriorate, mainly due to efficiency losses in the first half of the decade and the lack of technological improvement in the second half of the decade.

We examine the effects of and the incentives for increasing input efficiency within a spatially segregated  Cournot duopoly with monopoly trade unions whose utility functions depend on both wages and employment. We show that with neoclassical as well as Leontief technology, unions raise wages to appropriate fully the gains from labor-saving technological (or organisational) improvements, leaving the firm with no incentive to invest in increasing the efficiency of workers. However, capital-saving     technological improvement may be profitable depending on the elasticity of substitution. Finally, we examine the implication of a fixed minimum wage (or competitive labor market) in one country.

The article presents the results of studies of the effectiveness of liquid mineral nitrogen and nitrogen-sulfur-containing fertilizers based on urea-ammonia mixture-UAN in comparison with solid-ammonium nitrate when growing sunflower in arid, typical for the zone of "risky farming" - the Volga region, years (2018-2020) with the use of modern high-performance equipment manufactured in Russia (Samara) at JSC "Eurotechnika" of the German company AMAZONEN-Werke. Conducted three-year studies on typical chernozems of the Samara region on the experimental fields of the Samara State Agrarian University, showed a significant advantage of liquid fertilizers with an increase in sunflower yield on average for three years according to experimental options up to a maximum of 6centners / ha or by13 %.
