Highly-ordered V2O5nanowires were prepared by sol-gel strategy using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) as a template. The morphologies, structures and components of the nanowires were characterized by XRD, SEM and XPS. The results indicated high-ordered and uniformly distributed V2O5nanowires were obtained, and the length and diameter were dependent on the diameter and the thickness of the applied AAO template. The V2O5nanowires modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was used to investigate the electrochemical properties of dopamine (DA), V2O5nanowires exhibited an excellent electrocatalytic behavior on DA.

Indium nanowires with diameters approximately 300 nm have been synthesized by a hydraulic pressure technique using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates. The indium melt is injected into the AAO template and solidified to form nanostructures. The nanowires are dense, continuous and uniformly run through the entire ∼60 μm thickness of the AAO template. X-ray diffraction (XRD) reveals that the nanowires are polycrystalline with a preferred orientation. SEM is performed to characterize the morphology of the nanowires.
