Bicomponent manganese and rhenium modified activated carbon materials, prepared by different methods, are studied and compared with the corresponding monocomponent materials as catalysts in methanol decomposition to CO and hydrogen. The best catalytic activity and stability is observed for the sample obtained by simultaneous deposition of Mn and Re precursors. The complex character of the catalytic active centre, including manganese and rhenium irons in various oxidative states, is discussed. The determining role of the Mn(II) ions in the improvement of the catalytic properties is assumed.Key words: rhenium, manganese, activated carbon, methanol decomposition.

In this paper, the electrochemical and texture characteristics of electrode materials made of a number of promising carbon materials for supercapacitors were considered. Carbon nanofibers, thermally expanded graphite, and activated carbon derived from rice hulls were used as electrodes for supercapacitors. The paper presents a technique of synthesis of these electrode materials. A comparison of the capacitive characteristics of the electrodes using two-electrode scheme was carried out.

The economic’s development also bring urbanization and industrialization in many countries. However, many pollutants are also discharged into the environment, especially heavy metals (Zinc) seriously affects people's life and health as well as the water environment. This study reports on the preparation of activated carbon materials modified with HNO3 from Cassia Fistula seed for heavy metal removal. The results showed that zinc removal efficiencies were 65.06%; 72.19%; 75.64%; 78.57% corresponds to concentrations of 50, 30, 20, 10 ppm at optimal survey conditions pH 5, dosage of 0.3 g/50ml and 60 minutes processing time. The research results show that the activated carbon modified with HNO3 from Cassia Fistula seed is a promising absorption material for heavy metal removal in wastewater.
