This paper presents the relationship between the carbon atom diffusion coefficient in the austenite and the temperature during the nodular cast iron solidification under different cooling rates or with different carbon contents. Pouring the wedge-shaped casting explores the influence of cooling rate on the diffusion coefficient. The other part explores the change of the diffusion coefficient with different carbon contents by water quenching to save the organization in the solidification. Results show that both the cooling rate and the carbon content can affect the diffusion coefficient, and it decreases as the cooling rate increases. More attempts were also done to correlate the diffusion coefficient with the temperature in different carbon content. It has been found that the diffusion coefficient decreases as the temperature increase.

The objective of this article consists in exhaustive monitoring of abrasive wear and subsequent evaluation of nodular cast iron with spheroidal graphite used as the base material for production of ploughshare blades. Nodular cast iron has a lot of convenient properties for production of these components. We have tested this material in field tests. For these tests there were manufactured ploughshare blades (directly according to original). These ploughshare blades were tested in practical conditions of agricultural company Farma Nedvězí Ltd. Three ploughshare blades were used in natural cast state and the others were heat-treated. During the test there were measured decreases of weights of the ploughshare blades and subsequently compared with decreases of original ploughshare blades, produced by company Opall Agri which are ordinarily available at our market.

The paper presents the cavitation stand used, the work methodology, the trials realized on specimens of gray cast irons, with flake graphite and spheroidal-graphite, which were tested for cavitation erosion during different periods of time of the cavitation attack. Finally, the conclusions were interpreted on the basis of comparative graphics realized at the macro and microstructures level obtained for these two types of cast iron. Of the two types of gray cast iron, the nodular cast iron presents a better cavitation erosion resistance.

This paper describes the technological process of manufacturing bimetallic billets, which are capable of operating at high pressures, high temperatures, and in corrosive environments, from VT-14 titanium alloy and 12KH18N10T stainless steel. To obtain a joint with a strength of at least 350 MPa, the diffusion welding method was used, which makes it possible to obtain equal-strength joints using dissimilar materials. The connection of VT-14 titanium alloy with 12KH18N10T stainless steel after obtaining bimetallic billets with the desired properties was investigated. We studied the welded VT-14 and 12KH18N10T joint obtained by diffusion welding through intermediate spacers of niobium Nb (NbStrip-1) and copper Cu (M1). On the basis of our investigations, the optimum welding modes are as follows: welding temperature: 1137 K; welding pressure: 18 MPa; welding time: 1200 s. Mechanical tests, tightness tests, and metallographic, factographic, and micro-X-ray structural studies were carried out, the results of which indicate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
