BACKGROUND Web-based telehealth interventions have shown promise for chronic disease management but have not been widely applied to stroke populations. Limited information is known about the accessibility and usability of web-based electronics post-stroke. The purpose was to explore internet access and use of web-based electronics in stroke survivors (SS) and their informal caregivers (IC). OBJECTIVE To describe access and usage of web-based electronics in a cohort of SS and IC. METHODS A cross-sectional survey of 378 participants (SS=251; IC=127). Descriptive statistics were generated. RESULTS Internet-users were on average 8 years younger than non-users (Mean years; SS 59; IC 51) and the majority were Non-Hispanic White men. Two hundred (81%) stroke survivors reported internet access compared to 123 (97%) caregivers (p<0.001). Smart phones were the most common device used to access the internet. CONCLUSIONS Web-based telehealth stroke interventions should consider participant age and race/ethnicity, the role of the IC to positively impact SS internet accessibility and usability, and the use of smartphone applications.

Background: Physical therapy is very well known for its vital role in health promotion, treating, and preventing a wide spectrum of health disorders. It is considered an indispensable part of the recovery of patients with musculoskeletal disorders and is regarded as an important field of medicine in the health sector. Objective: The purpose of this study was to find how effective patients of musculoskeletal disorders found physical therapy in their journey of recovery and their Awareness and Perception about Physiotherapy Method: Online cross-sectional survey developed by the authors was conducted using Google Forms. A total of 26 questions excluding questions regarding general demographics of patients, were designed in this web-based survey. Non-probability purposive sampling method was used. The survey was distributed via emails/WhatsApp to 260 adult patients residing in Delhi NCR, who approached physiotherapy for musculoskeletal conditions. Based on the responses, percentage analysis was done. Result and Conclusion: Out of 260 only 231 patients responded (male = 126 female = 105) between age group 20 to 92 residing in Delhi and NCR. Majority of the patients found physiotherapy an effective treatment option and were satisfied with their overall physiotherapy experience. Yet a large number of patients couldn’t identify the role of physiotherapy in health sector. People of Delhi-NCR still lack awareness about the various specializations in Physiotherapy and many patients were unable to identify the role of a physiotherapist and confused them with other healthcare professionals like Massage Therapists, Chiropractors and Acupuncturist. Abstract. Background: According to the strain theory of suicide, strains, resulting from conflicting and competing pressures in an individual's life, are hypothesized to precede suicide. But social support is an important factor that can mitigate strains and lessen their input in suicidal behavior. Aims: This study was designed to assess the moderating role of social support in the relation between strain and suicidality. Methods: A sample of 1,051 employees were recruited in Beijing, the capital of China, through an online survey. Moderation analysis was performed using SPSS PROCESS Macro. Social support was measured with the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and strains were assessed with the Psychological Strains Scale. Results: Psychological strains are a good predictor of suicidality, and social support, a basic need for each human being, moderates and decreases the effects of psychological strains on suicidality. Limitations: The cross-sectional survey limited the extent to which conclusions about causal relationships can be drawn. Furthermore, the results may not be generalized to the whole of China because of its diversity. Conclusion: Social support has a tendency to mitigate the effects of psychological strains on suicidality.

The aim of the present study was to determine whether normal sleepers with vulnerability to insomnia, via high sleep reactivity, demonstrate more sleep-related dysfunctional cognitions and behaviours and poorer psychological health compared to those who are not vulnerable. Further, the influence of stress on the relationship between sleep reactivity and psychological health was also examined. A cross-sectional survey of 737 young adult ‘normal’ sleepers from the general population was undertaken. Results indicated normal sleepers vulnerable to insomnia demonstrated more sleep-related dysfunctional cognitions and behaviours as well as poorer psychological health compared to those not vulnerable. Furthermore, the relationship between sleep reactivity and psychological health was moderated by perceived stress over the previous month and life events over the previous year. Therefore, identifying and supporting those who are vulnerable to insomnia may be a fruitful avenue for preventative public health campaign to mitigate both insomnia and poor psychological health.
