This study provides an overview of the potential of endophytic fungi isolated from leaves, stems, mangrove roots A. marina as a producer of antibiotics tested for Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans. This research was carried out in the microbiology laboratory of the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health of Riau from March to June 2017. This study used a laboratory experimental method, the data presented in descriptive form. The stages of the study were: identification of A. marina plants, fungal isolation, qualitative tests of flavonoids isolates from endophytic fungal, and antibacterial activity test. The results showed that from 15 isolates of endophytic fungi, 5 isolates producing antibiotics. FAA 3 isolate showed the highest antibiotic activity with 24 mm the diameter of the inhibitory zone, while the lowest inhibition zone was FAA 4 isolate by forming a diameter of inhibitory zone of 7 mm and the results of qualitative tests of metabolites showed as secondary flvonoid metabolites. This research can be used as a source of information for the community in utilizing mangrove plants as an alternative in improving health.

Textile dye is a material that has a negative effect on environmental quality, one of the textile dyes is violet crystal. Biodegradation is one of the methods that used in waste treatment and can take advantage of microbial activity to degrade waste. Mangroves are ecosystems that are found along coastal waters in tropical and subtropical areas. Microorganisms such as bacteria are able to live and develop in mangrove roots. This study aims to isolate and identify the bacteria that live on mangrove roots morphologically and are able get degrade textile dyes. This research was conducted using experimental laboratory methods. Samples were isolated from mangrove roots obtained in Wonorejo Surabaya sterilely. The process of isolation and verification of bacterial morphology was carried out at the Microbiology Laboratory of Hang Tuah University, Surabaya. The method of isolation was carried out using the spread method, and the purification of the bacteria was carried out using the streak method. The results obtained 10 bacterial isolates from the results of isolation and morphological examination, while 2 isolates were able to degrade the violet crystal textile dye, called AB.1.2 and AB.1.5 which were indicated by the presence of clear zones.

Abstract Background: Plant roots host a repertoire of bacteria and fungi, whose ecological interactions could improve their functions and plant performance. However, potential interactions and underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown in root-associated microbial communities at a continuous fine-scale. Results: We analyzed microbial intra- and inter-domain network topologies, keystone taxa, and interaction-related genes across four compartments (non-rhizosphere, rhizosphere, episphere and endosphere) from a soil-mangrove root continuum, using amplicon and metagenome sequencing technologies. We found that both intra- and inter-domain networks displayed notable differences in the structure and topology across four compartments. Compared to three peripheral compartments, the endosphere was a distinctive compartment with more intensive interactions in bacterial-fungal network than in bacterial or fungal network, which could be related to three bacterial keystone taxa (Vibrio, Anaerolineae and Desulfarculaceae) detected in the endosphere as they are known to intensify inter-domain interactions with fungi and stimulate biofilm formation. Also, high abundances of genes involved in cell-cell communications by quorum sensing (rhlI, lasI, pqsH and lasR) and aerobic cobamide biosynthesis (cobG, cobF and cobA) were detected in the endosphere.Conclusions: Our results reveal intensified inter-domain interactions of endophytes in the mangrove roots, creating a distinct micro-environment to promote a biofilm life-style.

Tributyltin (TBT) concentrations have been measured in the tissue of the Sydney rock oyster Saccostrea commercialis sampled from estuaries in New South Wales, Australia. Background TBT levels of below 2 ng Sn g-1 contrasted with values between 80 and 130 ng Sn g-1 in oysters exposed to high boat densities or poor tidal flushing. Shell deformities and reduced tissue weights were associated with all samples displaying elevated TBT levels. Specimens of the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas, growing on the same racks displayed 2-3 times the TBT concentrations of S. commercialis.
