Porous ZrO2 thin films that are highly transparent to visible and infrared light were fabricated via a simple sol–gel dip-coating method, and have promising potential applications in solar cells as a high-temperature-resistant insulating layer.

In this study, we have successfully synthesized Fe3+ doped SiO2/TiO2 thin films on glass substrates using the sol-gel dip-coating method. After synthesizing, the samples were annealed at 5000C in the air for 1 hour. The characteristics and optical properties of Fe3+ doped SiO2/TiO2 films were then investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). An antifogging ability of the glass substrates coated with the fabricated film is investigated and explained by a water contact angle under visible-light. The analyzed results also show that the crystalline phase of TiO2 thin films comprised only the anatase TiO2, but the crystalline size decreased from 8.8 to 5.9 nm. We also observed that the absorption edge of Fe3+- doped SiO2/TiO2 thin films shifted towards longer wavelengths (i.e. red shifted) from 371.7nm to 409.2 nm when the Fe3+-doped concentration increased from 0 to 1 % mol.

In this paper, the influence of immersion time on the structural and optical properties of SnO2 thin films was investigated. A series of samples was deposited by Sol-Gel dip coating method onto glass substrates. The number of layers was fixed at 03, but the immersion time was varied between 01 to 10 minutes. The samples [(3 layers) - SnO2 / glass] were submitted to thermal treatments in air at 500°C during 2h. The specimens are characterized by Raman spectroscopy and UV-Visible spectroscopy. Raman spectroscopy show that the thin films of SnO2 obtained at 06 and 10 minutes of immersion time, are crystallizes in rutile phase. The obtained results of optical analysis showed that the SnO2 thin films are transparent (77-85%) in the visible region and the values of the optical band gap varied from 3.81eV and 3.86 eV.
