A novel hydroxyapatite/chitosan composite plate enhanced by polylactic acid fiber is prepared via in–situ hybridization in the semipermeable mold. The influence factors of the composites are evaluated by orthogonal test; FT–IR, XRD and SEM are also used to determine the relevance between the composition and performance. Analyses show that: hydroxyapatite with weak crystalline state is generated in the composites; there is hydrogen bonding associating existing in the complex system; preferable interface junction is created between the fiber and hydroxyapatite /chitosan matrix, which is able to play benign potentiation to the mechanical strength. Orthogonal test finds that the pecking order of the influencing factors to physical properties is: fiber content > fiber length > hydroxyapatite content. HA/CS composite plate enhanced by PLA–fiber can get a significantly increase on flexural strength and bending modulus, therefore, it will be a kind of potential orthopaedic materials which possesses the ability of completely degraded.

Juglone is isolated from many plant species belonging to Juglandaceae family. Recent studies have shown that Juglone exhibits various bioactivities including anti-tumor functions. However, its anti-cancer activity on human ovarian cancer SKOV3 cell has not been examined. Thus, the current study was designed to elucidate the effect of Juglone on migration of human ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells. In the present study, SKOV3 cells were incubated with Juglone at various concentrations. Wound healing assay and Transwell chambers were used to detect migration of SKOV3 treated with Juglone for 24h. The result showed that Juglone inhibited the migration of SKOV3 cells with concentration of Juglone at 25, 50 or 100μM compared with control cells. Therefore, our results indicated that Juglone may be a potential candidate of drug for ovarian cancer.

Ulmus species have been widely used in Korean folk medicine because of their anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. We intended to investigate the wound healing effect of the powder of Ulmus parvifolia (UP) root bark in a mouse wound healing model. We also determined the mechanisms of effects of Ulmus parvifolia (UP) in skin and skin wound healing effect using keratinocyte model. in vivo experiments showed that the wound lesions in the mice decreased by U. parvifolia with 200 mesh size of root bark powder and significantly reduced by treatment with UP, compared with those treated with U. macrocarpa (UM). Results from in vitro experiments also revealed that UP extract promoted the migration of human skin keratinocytes. UP powder treatment upregulated the expression of the matrix metalloproteinase-2 and -9 protein and significantly increased transforming growth factor (TGF)-β levels. We confirmed that topical administration of the bark powder of exerted a significant effect on skin wound healing by upregulating the expression of MMP and transforming growth factor-β. TGF-β In, Our study suggests that U. parvifolia may be a potential candidate for skin wound healing including epidermal skin rejuvernation.

A research about to determine the conductance and water absorption capacity (swelling) of the composite membrane has been conducted. The membrane used was a membrane made of chitosan matrix, silver nanoparticle(AgNP) of 100 µg as a filler and acetic acid 1% as a solvent, which named chitosan composite membrane (Ch-AgNP). A 2% chitosan membrane (membrane Ch) used as a comparison. The membrane conductance value determined by measuring the membrane voltage (V) as a function of current (I) in monovalent salt solutions of NaCl and KCl with a concentration of 0.025 M. The swelling tests have been carried out using distilled water. The results showed that Ch membrane conductance was greater than the Ch-AgNP composite membrane. In KCl solution, the conductance is 0.0991 ?-1 and 0.0984 ?-1 and in NaCl solution are 0.1002 ?-1 and 0.0996 ?-1. The membrane conductance is greater in NaCl solution than in KCl solution. The swelling test showed that the swelling percentage of Ch-AgNP composite membrane was greater than Ch membrane
