The aerial roots of vanilla plant contain an strikingly high level of tricin in lignin (29.1 mg g−1). It will be a noteworthy feedstock for value-added chemicals and commodities to advance plant bioengineering and lignin valorization.

Research background: Currently, it is constantly increasing emphasis on the satisfaction of employees in the company. One way to satisfy them through internal marketing communication. Set them training according to their needs and interests and allow them to grow their career growth. It is also the provision of information on time at the required range and especially to be up to date. As a result, employees can perform their work efficiently and work to achieve the required result that the enterprise expects. It is necessary for this internal communication in the company took place both directions for many companies. It follows that finance inserted into education of employees; it will return to a business in an even greater range. Purpose of the article: The aim of this research is to analyses the use of the tools of the communication mix in the field of internal marketing communication of the selected company. Methods: SWOT analysis, Deduction, Comparison. Findings & Value added: Internal marketing communication in chosen company is on high level, according to analyzing tools and results of SWOT analysis. Added value is finding a level of internal marketing communication for company and creating some points for continuing in building quality internal marketing communication.

In this policy brief we argue that there is little debate about the statistical properties of value-added model (VAM) estimates of teacher performance, yet, despite this, there is little consensus about what the evidence about VAMs implies for their practical utility as part of high-stakes performance evaluation systems. A review of the evidence base that underlies the debate over VAM measures, followed by our subjective opinions about the value of using VAMs, illustrates how different policy conclusions can easily arise even given a high-level general agreement about an existing body of evidence. We conclude the brief by offering a few thoughts about the limits of our knowledge and what that means for those who do wish to integrate VAMs into their own teacher-evaluation strategy.

The article considers investment in fixed assets of the manufacturing industry as one of the main factors of its development. The manufacturing industry is shown to be the growth driver of national economy for developed and developing countries. The analysis of exports and imports of the first 15 countries in the ranking in terms of gross domestic product calculated at purchasing power parity (GDP at PPP) shows the leading role of the manufacturing industry in the global economy. At the same time, competitiveness in the global market is determined by high-tech products. Therefore, for the sustainable development of the Russian economy, it is necessary to create investment conditions for the advanced development of high-tech segments of the manufacturing industry. However, the current structure of investments in fixed assets contributes to the development of such services sector segments as “Transportation and storage”, “Real estate operations”. In the structure of investments in fixed assets, the largest share belongs to investments in buildings and structures, and intellectual property items account for no more than 10%. It is shown that the lack of investment resources is the main reason for the reduction (by 1.5 times) of the contribution to the value added of the manufacturing industry in Russia, production of machinery and equipment. This leads to an increase in dependence on imports, a fall in the share of products from high-tech sectors. To analyze the development potential of manufacturing industries, the authors introduced an indicator of investment intensity per 100 rubles of shipped industrial products. It was determined that enterprises with a joint Russian and foreign form of ownership lead in terms of investment intensity. At the same time, private enterprises, leading in terms of output, demonstrate weak investment activity. The low investment attractiveness of high-tech manufacturing sectors is shown. The regional structure of the manufacturing industry was analyzed. There is a high level of regional concentration of the manufacturing industry in Russia. At the same time, the authors show its relatively weak significance in the structure of the gross regional product in the majority of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. It has been proposed to develop a program at the federal level for the advanced development of production in the high-tech and medium-technology high-level sectors for 10–15 years. It is proposed to create a supradepartmental executive authority to manage this program.

Research background: Earnings management is a versatile phenomenon in firms’ financial reporting and It´s purpose is to demonstrate reasonable earnings quality. Thus, earnings management has much in common with earnings quality. Purpose of the article: This paper reviews earnings management and earnings quality in an information economics framework. We focus on earnings quality determinants, impact of earnings quality and the outcomes of earnings quality for companies. Methods: Basic scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction and abstraction were used to meet the stated goal. Findings & Value added: In general, earnings of high quality are those that have a high level of persistence, are more predictable, more timely, less volatile and have lower level of earnings management. Earnings management has a negative impact on the quality of earnings if it distorts the information in a way that is less useful for forecasting future cash flows.

AbstractSecuring the high level of performance of the supply chains is a difficult task. The harmonization of different interests, the coordination of the raw material supply and information flow, the cooperation of the partners, forging and maintaining a relationship of trust are challenging even in an ideal world in order to meet the customer demands. The recent outbreak of the COVID-19 presents the members of the supply chains with extreme challenges. Because of the epidemic, the value added activities of the supply chains are getting even more importance. It became clear that the different supply chains connect the whole economy in a global and local scale as well. The choice of the inventory and organizational strategy is a key aspect in a crisis like this. The aim of this study is to present the current challenges and their viable solutions in order to check the possibilities to maintain the operation of the supply chains even in this difficult economic and social period using an automotive case study as an example.

The transition to a new technological structure, the intensification of economic processes and globalization have become the reason for the growth of competitive pressure. It requires mobility, modernity, and instant response to market challenges by improving existing products and creating a new one. The article summarizes the arguments and counterarguments in the framework of a scientific discussion on the development of a strategy for the output of the enterprise to the markets of the European Union in order to increase their competitiveness and ensure their entry into the global value added chains. The main objective of the study is to develop theoretical and methodological provisions on the sequence of actions in the output of the company to the markets of the European Union and the disclosure of key aspects of this process. Analyzing, systematizing and summarizing the work of many scholars on the subject of research in the article, the essence of marketing policy of the enterprise is disclosed. PE «Autostenterprise» was selected as the object of the study, for which a list of priority strategic measures for the company has been formed at the stage of entering the European markets. As a result of the study, the argumentation of needs was made and the peculiarities of the conditions of the exit of PE «Autostenterprise» to the European market were determined. The estimation of the strategic position of PE «Autostenterprise» in the market of charging devices for electric cars is shown, which testifies to the high level of its competitiveness; an estimation of activity of the main competitor of PE «Autostenterprise» on the European market – the Dutch company ABB – is carried out. The reasons and difficulties of the PE «Autostenterprise» on the European market are outlined. The main problems, which do not allow to fully realize export potential of the company, are generalized. A set of measures for the enterprise was developed at the exit to the external market in the conditions of European integration. Directions of further researches on the given problem are development of the marketing strategy of the enterprise in order to promote its products to foreign markets.

Research background: The relevance of the research on corporate culture in the conditions of changes is substantiated and its elements, which are important for effective transformations, are defined. The influence of corporate culture on the company performance and its elements is identified. The article deals with hierarchical levels of corporate culture which identify elements of corporate culture and "hidden" factors that allow establishing relationships with the outside world and promote productive work. Purpose of the article: The objective of the article is to identify the elements of the organizational culture at the enterprise level, which influence the effectiveness of its activities under the changes and generalization of its components that determine its ability to transform the existing state in accordance with the established world experience and practice. The research is based on the experience of gas transportation companies in Ukraine. Methods: The McKinsey 7S model was used to describe the enterprise to assess the state of the proposed levels of formation and to change its corporate culture. The McKinsey 7S Framework used in this study as analytical tool to explore a system of interrelated elements which improve the organization's work, raising the level of employee culture and generating common values. The expert method was used to assess the qualitative indices of enterprise internal environment, including "style/culture" and "common values", based on the questionnaire of the experts' group. The survey was conducted at three levels of management for the gas transportation companies, located in different regions of Ukraine. The three levels of management for the mentioned above enterprises — top, middle and low managers were taken into account. The use of the fuzzy logic method makes it possible to investigate the influence of the corporate culture elements on the results of the enterprises and to identify those elements which are important for the implementation of changes at the enterprise and without which it is impossible to achieve effective transformations. Findings & Value added: Taking into account the results of the assessment of corporate culture elements at the investigated companies, the directions of corporate culture development for enterprises that are in a state of changes are pointed out, namely: use of different management styles; support of employees in making innovative decisions; development of cooperation and elimination of conflicts between workers; formation of general corporate values; creating trust between employees and top managers; promoting the development of young workers; use of the mechanisms of education and maintenance of a high level of morality and culture of workers.

Research background: Innovative development of industries and regions in Russia during the period 2005–2011 has not brought significant positive results. Innovative activity of regions and industries remained at a low level. After a relatively stable 2012–2013, the Russian economy faced the geopolitical crisis and economic sanctions in 2014–2015. Purpose of the article: The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the innovative development patterns of industrial sectors in selected Russian regions in the years 2012–2015, which include the period of negative external environment (2014–2015) for the national economy. Methods: The study enhances the analysis of statistical data and applies quantitative analysis methods (variance analysis). The research focuses on 14 regions of Russia, members of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR) and 2 specific industries: section D «Manufacturing» and subsection DL «Manufacture of electrical and optical equipment» which usually manifest high level of innovative economic activity. Findings & Value added: The research results show that the crisis period of 2014–2015 has not stimulated the increased innovative activities for both industries. The innovative sector (section D) grew faster than the non-innovative one in 2013, but this advantage became insignificant in 2014–2015. Some signs of revival for innovative enterprises in subsection DL were observed during the crises beginning in 2014, but this trend was not retained in 2015. The analysis of structural indicators (proportions) of the innovative sector shows that only a few AIRR regions have values comparable to the leading European countries. Most of the AIRR regions lag behind the leading foreign countries specifically on the «Share of enterprises engaged in technological innovation» and «Share of new or significantly improved products» Indicators. The study did not reveal the statistically significant positive dynamics of these indicators in the AIRR regions over the period 2013–2015.
