Using a laboratory micro-autoclave (of ~ 20 cm3 volume), the effects of transition metal additives (MoO3, Fe2O3 and commercial AlCoMo catalyst) on the thermal transformations of tile-like Barzas coals (sapromixites) in a hydrogen medium at T ~ 475°C and P ~ 6.0-7.5 MPa have been studied. It has been shown that catalytic additives under investigation somewhat suppress gas formation processes, facilitating the increase in H/C atomic ratios and in the amount of alkyl-containing structures in resin-like solid products of Barzas coal hydro-liquefaction. Maximal yields of “coal liquids” (maltenes + asphaltenes) (~ 35 wt.%, daf basis) were obtained during the heat treatment of sapromixites in the presence of bb1 wt.% MoO3.

In the case of the modeling of sintering and heat treatments, the diffusion coefficients are an essential input. However, experimental data in the literature about diffusion coefficients for rare-earth transition metal intermetallics is scarce. In this study, the available data concerning diffusion coefficients relevant for rare-earth transition metal magnets are reviewed and commented. Some empirical rules are discussed, for example the activation energy is affected by the size of the diffusing impurity atom. Diffusion coefficients for Dy, Nd and Fe into Nd2Fe14B are given according an Arrhenius equation D=D0exp (-Q/RT). For Dy diffusion into Nd2Fe14B, Q 315 kJ/mol and D08 . 10-4m2/s.

The use of complex fire-retardant coatings based on ethyl silicate gel - diammonium hydrogen phosphate reduces the process of smoke formation during thermal exposure to treated tissue samples, which is promising for improving the fire safety of textile materials. The compositions are easy to obtain, they do not require specific processing conditions, do not contain toxic substances. This allows us to offer developed compositions for fire protection of textile materials used in facilities with a large number of people.

Texture formation processes at all technological stages of tube manufacture were considered. It has been established that at the stage of hot deformation and manufacture of TREX tubes, tangential and radial textures are formed, a large share of tangential component of the texture. Influence of main factors of the technological process on formation of texture and properties was established. Conditions for formation of a maximum amount of radial texture in tubes which ensure improvement of service properties of tubes were determined. To create maximum amount of radial texture in tubes, total reduction rate in passes and the wall to diameter reduction ratio (factor Q) are important. The reduction rate should be increased, especially in the last passes, to 75…85%. Heat treatment (stress relief annealing) practically does not change the tube texture.

The Si L2,3 and C K soft X-ray emission spectra of the interface of the Ti(50 nm)/4H-SiC(substrate) system, thermally annealed from 800°C to 1000°C and characterized by soft X-ray emission spectroscopy (SXES), revealed the formation of a reacted region composed of silicides with Ti 5 Si 3 as the majority formed species and carbides in TiC-like bonding. Also, the photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM) imaging of Ti(10 nm) film on 3C-SiC surface during in situ heat treatment showed the formation of island structures (in ring clusters) at ~ 800°C.
