The results of field and computational experimental studies of the pulse echo method are presented. Typical reflectograms of bored piles are presented. The factors that complicate the interpretation of control data are noted. An analysis of the formation of the fronts of an acoustic pulse during its shock excitation is presented. Estimates of the influence of reinforcement on the estimates of the propagation velocity of an acoustic pulse are given.

We are building the structures rapidly in the area where there is requirement of the structures. Every structure has its own service life. Every structure is designed by assuming its life of existence. Some of the structures gets more life than expected and some gets fail in achieving its life. Any technology or material has its limitation to withstand. Many of the structures of R.C.C. are located in Seismic prone area. The structures gets damaged due to earthquake and the structures which becomes old should be checked that whether it has the strength of existence or not. The structures should be audited timely for the safety of the human life as well as for the nearby structures. The structures can be checked by various methods of Non-Destructive Test (Rebound Hammer Test, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Method, Pulse Echo Method, Probe Penetration Test, Destructive Test. Rebound Hammer Test of Non-Destructive Test is used in this paper to check the strength of an institutional building. When examining the structure, this paper aims to expand the life of structure. Different techniques of Retrofitting is given to the structural member which is unsafe. By applying the retrofitting, the structure can be made safe.

This paper deals with finding of defects, such as cracks, breakdowns and inclusions in rails and in ship plates, by ultrasound technique. Pulse echo method and twin beams technique is some of the ultrasonic inspection methods we have used for thickness measurements and for inspection of the welds. Initially, the thickness of rails and ship plates was measured by ultrasound devices using straight beam transducers and then the weldings of these samples were checked by using angle beam transducers.

AbstractNumerous studies have shown that the non-destructive testing has proved the exceptional role in supervising the quality of concrete. Today, they represent an alternative that contributes to the resolution of materials diagnostic problems without altering them. This work presents an experimental study using a pulse-echo method that has the advantage of generating two types of wave (compressional and shear) by a mode conversion using just one transducer. The samples were made in a prismatic form. The results recovered from backscattered echoes are extracted using an estimation algorithm. These data were exploited to determine velocities of the tested material then the reflection coefficients for related them with the compressive strength. The tests were conducted with six samples with varied water/cement ratio. The results obtained showed that the prism technique has the potential to evaluate characteristics cementitious material using this proposed process.

The multifunctional pulse equipment allowіng to use the method of amplitude-independent internal friction in the frequency range 7.5 to 232.5 MHz is described. Equipment gjves the possibility to investigate the peculiarities of the process of phonon-dislocation interaction in crystals, to carry out thermoactivation analysis of the process of dislocation of the dislocations about the stoppers under the action of temperature and elastic loading, to study processes of dislocation and mechanical relaxation in loaded samples in the quasi-elastic and plastic strain range.
