AbstractA removable dental prosthesis that covers and rests on two or more remaining natural teeth, the roots of natural teeth, and/or dental implants is known as overdenture. This leads to less resorption of residual alveolar ridges. Restoration and modified teeth coronally can also be used as multiple abutments. In most cases, abutments are treated endodontically. In most patients with complete dentures, mandibular denture is difficult to adapt, and there is loss of retention because of less surface area. This case report represents prosthetic rehabilitation of a mandibular edentulous patient with cast coping with short dowels supported overdenture.

This study aimed to assess the masticatory efficiency in patients with a removable dental prosthesis, presenting different systemic, oral and prosthetic states while chewing different foods. The study was conducted on a convenient sample of patients aged 45 and above, with removable prostheses in at least one jaw. Patients were asked to chew samples of digestive biscuits, apple, and carrot, until the sensation of swallowing. The recorded masticatory function parameters were: chewing time, the number of mastication cycles, mean masticatory cycle duration, and chewing frequency. We found out that the masticatory functional parameters registered statistically significant differences according to the chewed food (e.g., generally the highest values were recorded for carrot and lowest for apple), most likely this being in relation to food’s consistency, wetting, and adherence. High positive correlations were found between the chewing time and the number of mastication cycles for all three foods taken into consideration. Higher values for chewing time and number of mastication cycles were found for all foods in patients with complete dentures and overdentures, and while chewing carrot in patients with altered general status and of advanced age. Therefore, it that it takes a different time and number of mastication cycles to complete chewing, in relation to individual and food characteristics, to the systemic, oral and prosthetic patient’s status. The residual teeth number and the type of prosthetic rehabilitation favor the adaptation and improvement of masticatory parameters and can have marker value for masticatory efficiency.

Complex periprosthetic cases are considered as challenges by clinicians. Clinical and radiographic parameters should be considered separately to make the right choice between an endodontically or periodontally compromised treated tooth and implant. Therefore, in order to decide whether the tooth is safe or not, data that have to be collected are specific parameters of both the patient and the clinician. In addition, the presence of periodontal, prosthetic, and orthodontic diseases requires patients to be set in multidisciplinary approach. The aim of this case report is to describe how the multidisciplinary approach could be the best way to manage difficult cases of implant-prosthetic rehabilitation. How to rehabilitate with fixed prosthesis on natural teeth and dental implants a smoker patient who presents with active periodontitis, multiple edentulous areas, dental malocclusion, and severe aesthetic problems was also described.

ABSTRACT In cases where patients are left with few teeth, clinicians face a dilemma. Psychological satisfaction of the patient by retaining the natural teeth not only provides retention but also helps in the preservation of the alveolar bone and proprioception. Overdenture therapy has a long-term advantage where the forces of mastication are directed along the long axis of the abutment teeth, which provides guidance and support and further prevents the dislodgement of denture during movements. Overdenture design remains one of the best treatment options for patients who do not have the financial ability to support an extensive restorative treatment. This management is a preventive prosthodontic therapy, which can delay or eliminate future prosthodontic problems. This case report is about the prosthetic rehabilitation of a partially edentulous patient using a hybrid overdenture with a double crown for the maxilla and conventional overdenture for the mandible, giving the patient a denture with better esthetics, more support, and retention. ABSTRACT Scope of work The purpose of this work is the analysis and comparison of the various methods available for the realization of fixed restorations on natural teeth in the anterior sector with the presentation of some case report series. Materials and methods The methods used in relation to the clinical case, are the metal-ceramic, the galvan-ceramic, all- ceramic and porcelain veneers. Results It highlights indications and limitations of each of the methods proposed, emphasizing the prominent role of esthetics in the rehabilitation sector of the front. Conclusion The materials and techniques available, with proper clinical evaluation and to a timely therapeutic planning, are the basis of the rehabilitative ideal choice for each individual case, and they also depend on the achievement of clinical success. AbstractSeveral difficulties are encountered in providing a successful, single complete denture treatment. This case report deals with successful rehabilitation of completely resorbed mandibular ridge opposing a full complement of natural teeth prosthetically incorporating metal denture base in place of the conventional Poly Methyl Methacrylate material to combat the masticatory forces from natural dentition and improve the longevity of the prosthetic rehabilitation, at the same time improving the strength of the mandibular denture base.

AbstractIntroduction. Complete edentulism is escorted by various comorbidities, which affect an individual. The management of edentulous patients was approached since the early days of dentistry.The aim of this case report was to present the implanto-prosthetic rehabilitation of a bimaxillary complete edentulous patient with implant-supported overdentures, by using Straumann dental implants.Case presentation. This case report presents the applied treatment to a bimaxillary complete edentulous patient, where the predictable osseointegration and implant stability after the placement of implants was possible, with the purpose to support the overdentures.Conclusions. The oral rehabilitation of complete bimaxillary edentulism through implant-supported overdentures is a procedure with a predictive treatment that presents beneficial aspects in the quality of life of the patients.

AbstractProsthetic rehabilitation of atrophic ridges is always a challenging task, since treatment modalities, such as ridge augmentation and implant-retained complete dentures are not always feasible due to health reasons, cost factor, etc. This article describes a case report of constructing a liquid-supported denture using a simple, innovative laboratory procedure, which provides a soft tissue surface as compared with conventional complete dentures and added comfort to underlying tissues. It helps in preservation of residual ridge resorption by optimal distribution of masticatory forces and gives adequate retention stability and support.
