At the end of 2014, Malaysia was  hit by an extraordinary and massive  flood which affected mainly on its east coast region. The victims, who accounted as more than two hundred thousand people were rescued and placed at flood relief centers. At the relief centres, there were a lot of situations that related closely to Fiqh discipline such as ritual purity, method in performing prayers, mixing and mingling between men and women, islamic funeral  the rulings on lost property and the awareness to refer unresolved issues to experts. In order to determine if the evacuees have good Fiqh understanding upon these issues, an exploratory quantitative study had been conducted among 18 respondents using questionaires. The researchers used convenience sampling method at the district of Maran and Temerloh. As a result, they found the respondent had high level of Fiqh understanding with overall min value 3.87. Mangsa-mangsa yang dipindahkan dan ditempatkan di pusat penempatan melebihi dua ratus ribu orang. Di pusat-pusat penempatan itu, terdapat beberapa keadaan yang berkait rapat dengan fiqh seperti cara bersuci, kaedah mengerjakan solat, batasan pergaulan lelaki-perempuan yang bukan mahram, pengurusan jenazah, hukum mengambil barang yang dijumpai dan kesedaran merujuk pakar dalam hal fiqh yang tidak diketahui. Untuk mengetahui tahap kefahaman warga pusat penempatan terhadap isu-isu ini, satu kajian perintis kuantitatif berbentuk soal selidik telah dijalankan ke atas 18 orang. Pemilihan responden dibuat menggunakan kaedah persampelan mengikut kesenangan (convenience sampling). Dengan menjadikan daerah Temerloh dan Maran sebagai lokasi kajian, penyelidik mendapati responden mempunyai tahap kefahaman Fiqh yang tinggi dengan nilai min keseluruhan 3.87. This study is conducted to; first, investigate the level of awareness among flood victims in Malaysia towards takaful policy. Second, to examine differences of demographic background (age, marital status, occupation, education background, and income level) among the victims towards awareness on the takaful. Overall, a total of 536 flood victims located at east-coast area of Malaysia have participated in the survey. Based on descriptive and crosstabulation analyses, majority of the victims were uncertain about the takaful. In terms of background differences, the younger generation were more aware compared to the elders, single victims were more aware than the married, and those who were in high level of education (diploma, degree, and phd holders) were more aware on the existence of takaful. and the needs to have takaful protection. The findings of this study provide important suggestion to offer an affordable micro-takaful policy for future financial protection for the lower income and most vulnerable flood victims in the country. On top of that, various efforts should be done to increase the level of awareness among the Malaysian on the importance of participating in the takaful policy.

The Relationship

The objective of the research is to determine the relationship between academic motivation and the professional skills development in the specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. The study is quantitative and the design is non-experimental correlational translational. The results indicate that there is a high level relationship (0.914) between the independent academic motivation variable and the professional competences development in the Specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. In conclusion, motivation is directly related to the professional skills development in the specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. The research results conclude that there is a high relationship between the variables.

Over the last two decades, Taiwan has experienced a surge in immigration due to marriage. With the growth in the incidence of international marriages, the number of immigrant children in Taiwan has sharply increased. Career development is an important factor worldwide and is thus an important issue for immigrant children in Taiwan. Many factors influence the choices of new immigrant children for their career development. The purpose of this study was to explore the factors influencing the career development of new immigrant children. The research was conducted using the qualitative research method, and data were collected from 30 participants who were new-immigrant-children university students. After analyzing the interviews of the participants, the results were analyzed. Further, on the basis of analysis of previous literature and interviews, recommendations were made for the career development of new immigrant children, such as strengthen the attainment of and respect for multi-culturalism through School, family, and social systems.
