The role of English as a second language (ESL) teachers and instruction as fac- tors in student social and psychological acculturation is widely acknowledged. However, the function of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is less well known in this regard, because research has focused largely on academic acculturation. This qualitative study investigated the perceptions of curriculum alignment with undergraduate study by post-EAP learners (students who had successfully completed EAP and were registered in mainstream university programs). Semistructured interviews were conducted with 7 former EAP students from a range of faculties at a large Canadian university. Analysis of interview data highlighted social acculturation as a perceived need in EAP curriculum, as participants remarked on linguistic and cultural barriers faced while participating in university life post-EAP. The researchers argue that social acculturation is typically underrepresented in EAP curriculum, and may be inadvertently overlooked by instructors, curriculum planners, and program providers.

Purpose In the era of high student fees and intense market competition, many universities now buy books for their new students, and recently have incorporated student choice into the offer, enabling students to choose how to spend funds. Teesside University has successfully piloted such an approach with one academic School, the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law. The pilot has now been extended to all academic Schools, with all students receiving £100 per academic year to spend on reading list books. The scheme covers new full-time undergraduate students at the University, and is operated in collaboration with an external company, John Smiths. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the Teesside University Advance scheme against baseline data of book borrowing and reservation patterns of reading list titles. The paper explores the impact upon the student experience and student perceptions of the Library. Design/methodology/approach The project used a mixed methods approach. The quantitative strand analysed book borrowing and reservation patterns data from library systems and from book purchasing patterns data provided by the online store supporting the scheme. Students were also surveyed about the scheme. The qualitative strand, via one-to-one interviews conducted by the student researcher, gained an insight into why students select certain titles to purchase; and what their expectations of the university library are for the supply of reading list titles. Findings Analysis revealed an overall decline in book borrowing from the library of the titles selected for purchase by students via the scheme. Student perceptions of the library were positive and demonstrated a strategic use of library resources alongside book purchases and open web resources. At early stages of university undergraduate study, students need guidance on most appropriate resources to use and why, from either reading lists or book bundles. Originality/value Teesside University scheme is unique in the UK in covering all new full-time undergraduates and letting them choose which reading list titles to buy with the university funds provided.

Background: The field of education began to shift from conventional methods to the e-learning method. Blended-learning method is a method that combines e-learning and conventional methods. Truwinist Interdigital Method (MTI) is a learning innovation using the blended-learning method. The aim of this study was to determine student perceptions about blended-learning: Truwinist Interdigital Method. Methods: This study is a descriptive studies. The subjects of this study were students of the Medical Undergraduate Study Program of Padjadjaran University in 7th semester, add up to 156 students in total. Subjects were presented with material for 4 days by accessing MTI antibiotics and continued face to face for 1 hour on the fourth day. The research instrument in the form of a questionnaire consisted of 16 statements with 4 aspects of assessment, namely ‘students interest’, ‘accessibility’, ‘content’, and ‘discussion activities in MTI’. The calculation method used likert-scale with index interval analysis. Results: Based on the analysis of the data from questionnaire, all items for aspects of students interest in blended-learning and accessibility were categorized as 'strongly agree'. Index number for the aspect of content is 78.21%; 79.97%; 79.97%; and 82.85% were categorized as 'strongly agree' and 72.28% were categorized as 'agree'. The index number per item for the aspect of discussion activities is 79.65% and 90.54% which is categorized as 'strongly agree', while the index number of 69.55% is categorized as 'agree'.Conclusion: The majority of students have a positive response to learning using blended learning: MTI. Keywords: perception, blended-learning, truwinist interdigital.

Background: The healthcare system consists of collaborations from multiple related professions to provide superior services for patients. The ability to cooperate in an interprofessional environment should be introduced at an early stage for healthcare students in the workplace amongst various disciplines. Interprofessional education (IPE), is an innovation where a group of students from several health professions conduct learning together, to create effective collaboration in order to improve the quality of health services. One of the active learning methods that can be used is Team-Based Learning (TBL). This study aims to elaborate students' perception of IPE learning using TBL as the active learning method.Method: The mixed – method is applied in this research. 162 students from four applied undergraduate study programs at the Tanjungkarang Health Polytechnic are sampled. 26 groups consisting of 6 - 7 students from various study programs are divided from the sample. Data was collected using sli.do at the end of TBL session. Results: Student perceptions included: entertaining learning processes, higher knowledge absorptions, improved interprofessional teamwork and communication and better critical thinking skills. Refining teacher competency, increasing profession diversity in the discussions, increasing session duration and higher topic complexity are important factors to ameliorate further IPE learning using TBL. 81% of students had a positive (excellent and good) response in regards to IPE learning using the TBL.Conclusion: Students possess a positive perception and increased benefits for IPE learning using TBL. TBL may be one of the prospective methods to convey IPE concepts.

Abstract This qualitative study examined student perceptions regarding a hybrid classroom format in which part of their learning took place in a traditional classroom and part of their learning occurred in an online platform. Pre-course and post-course anonymous essays suggest that students may be open to learning in this context; however, they have specific concerns as well. Students raised issues regarding faculty communication patterns, learning styles, and the value of clear connections between online and traditional learning experiences. Student concerns and feedback need to be addressed through the course design and by the instructor in order for them to have a positive learning experience in a hybrid format course.

Clinical supervision is recognized as a distinctive area of practice and expertise, yet professional preparation in this area remains inadequate. This paper presents functional information describing the development and implementation of an experimental course on administration, supervision, and private practice, based on graduate student perceptions and preferences for course content and types of learning activities. Current pedagogical trends for universal design in learning and fostering student engagement were emphasized, including problem-based and collaborative learning. Results suggest that students were highly pleased with course content, interactive and group activities, as well as with assessment procedures used.
