Intelligent Reading Recognition Method of Pointer Meter Based on Deep Learning in Real Environment

Abstract The accurate reading of pointer meter is a crucial task in complex environments such as substations, military and aerospace. The current recognition algorithm is mainly used to identify the same type and non-tilt meter, which has limited application in real environment. This paper proposes a novel end-to-end intelligent reading method of pointer meter based on deep learning, which locates the meter and extracts the pointer simultaneously without any prior information. Especially, the pointer is directly and precisely extracted using the designed semi-pointer detection method without any handcrafted features designed in advance, which avoids the accumulated error caused by preprocessing. Based on the extracted panel object, including semi-pointer, panel center and scale characters, the indicated value of the pointer is obtained by a local angle method, which can achieve better performance than the traditional angle method by referring to the neighboring scale lines of the pointer. Experimental results demonstrate that the method is faster and more effective than some common methods. It is worth noting that this study has the advantage of being able to recognize pointer meters in complex environments such as tilt, rotation, blur and illumination. It is acceptable for the actual application requirements in real environment with a recognition accuracy of 99.20% and the average reference error of 0.34%.

The difficulty in class student state recognition is how to make feature judgments based on student facial expressions and movement state. At present, some intelligent models are not accurate in class student state recognition. In order to improve the model recognition effect, this study builds a two-level state detection framework based on deep learning and HMM feature recognition algorithm, and expands it as a multi-level detection model through a reasonable state classification method. In addition, this study selects continuous HMM or deep learning to reflect the dynamic generation characteristics of fatigue, and designs random human fatigue recognition experiments to complete the collection and preprocessing of EEG data, facial video data, and subjective evaluation data of classroom students. In addition to this, this study discretizes the feature indicators and builds a student state recognition model. Finally, the performance of the algorithm proposed in this paper is analyzed through experiments. The research results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper has certain advantages over the traditional algorithm in the recognition of classroom student state features.

Automatic head tracking and counting using depth imagery has various practical applications in security, logistics, queue management, space utilization and visitor counting. However, no currently available system can clearly distinguish between a human head and other objects in order to track and count people accurately. For this reason, we propose a novel system that can track people by monitoring their heads and shoulders in complex environments and also count the number of people entering and exiting the scene. Our system is split into six phases; at first, preprocessing is done by converting videos of a scene into frames and removing the background from the video frames. Second, heads are detected using Hough Circular Gradient Transform, and shoulders are detected by HOG based symmetry methods. Third, three robust features, namely, fused joint HOG-LBP, Energy based Point clouds and Fused intra-inter trajectories are extracted. Fourth, the Apriori-Association is implemented to select the best features. Fifth, deep learning is used for accurate people tracking. Finally, heads are counted using Cross-line judgment. The system was tested on three benchmark datasets: the PCDS dataset, the MICC people counting dataset and the GOTPD dataset and counting accuracy of 98.40%, 98%, and 99% respectively was achieved. Our system obtained remarkable results.

Electronic component recognition plays an important role in industrial production, electronic manufacturing, and testing. In order to address the problem of the low recognition recall and accuracy of traditional image recognition technologies (such as principal component analysis (PCA) and support vector machine (SVM)), this paper selects multiple deep learning networks for testing and optimizes the SqueezeNet network. The paper then presents an electronic component recognition algorithm based on the Faster SqueezeNet network. This structure can reduce the size of network parameters and computational complexity without deteriorating the performance of the network. The results show that the proposed algorithm performs well, where the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC) and Area Under the Curve (AUC), capacitor and inductor, reach 1.0. When the FPR is less than or equal 10 − 6   level, the TPR is greater than or equal to 0.99; its reasoning time is about 2.67 ms, achieving the industrial application level in terms of time consumption and performance.

A micro-Doppler signature (m-DS) based on the rotation of drone blades is an effective way to detect and identify small drones. Deep-learning-based recognition algorithms can achieve higher recognition performance, but they needs a large amount of sample data to train models. In addition to the hovering state, the signal samples of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) should also include flight dynamics, such as vertical, pitch, forward and backward, roll, lateral, and yaw. However, it is difficult to collect all dynamic UAV signal samples under actual flight conditions, and these dynamic flight characteristics will lead to the deviation of the original features, thus affecting the performance of the recognizer. In this paper, we propose a small UAV m-DS recognition algorithm based on dynamic feature enhancement. We extract the combined principal component analysis and discrete wavelet transform (PCA-DWT) time–frequency characteristics and texture features of the UAV’s micro-Doppler signal and use a dynamic attribute-guided augmentation (DAGA) algorithm to expand the feature domain for model training to achieve an adaptive, accurate, and efficient multiclass recognition model in complex environments. After the training model is stable, the average recognition accuracy rate can reach 98% during dynamic flight.

An inertial measurement unit-based pedestrian navigation system that relies on the intelligent learning algorithm is useful for various applications, especially under some severe conditions, such as the tracking of firefighters and miners. Due to the complexity of the indoor environment, signal occlusion problems could lead to the failure of certain positioning methods. In complex environments, such as those involving fire rescue and emergency rescue, the barometric altimeter fails because of the influence of air pressure and temperature. This paper used an optimal gait recognition algorithm to improve the accuracy of gait detection. Then a learning-based moving direction determination method was proposed. With the Kalman filter and a zero-velocity update algorithm, different gaits could be accurately recognized, such as going upstairs, downstairs, and walking flat. According to the recognition results, the position change in the vertical direction could be reasonably corrected. The obtained 3D trajectory involving both horizontal and vertical movements has shown that the accuracy is significantly improved in practical complex environments.
