This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in Civics in 5th grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Kauman, Yogyakarta using Problem Based Learning model. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of the study were 5th grade students of B1 SD Muhammadiyah Kauman. The object of research is the whole process and the results of learning Civics with the application of Problem Based Learning model. This research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah Pakel Yogyakarta in April until May 2017. Data collection techniques used were observation, diary, interview and test. Data analysis technique is done descriptively qualitative. This research was conducted in 2 cycles by applying problem based learning model. The learning steps that were implemented were changes in the delivery of the subject matter, the students analyzed the problem, the formation of the discussion group with the grouping of students based on their achievement, the students in group for discussion, the group members delivered the discussion result in front of the class.The results showed that the critical thinking ability of the 5th grade students of B1 SD Muhammadiyah Kauman, Yogyakarta increased after the use of Problem Based Learning model in Civics learning with the subject matter of the example of central and regional legislation. This improvement is evident in the improvement of students' critical thinking skill test result from 12.90% pretreatment score to 51.61% (enough) in cycle I and increased to 70.96% (good) in cycle II. The results of activity observations related to students' critical thinking skills are increased among others: active students in learning, students more freely in finding and collecting desired information, and students also have more opportunities to learn with friends.

AbstrakRendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa menyebabkan siswa kurang mampu menyelesaikan soal yang bersifat non rutin dan siswa masih kurang mengembangkan ide dan kemampuan yang dimilikinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa melalui model Problem Based Learning berdasarkan Kemampuan Awal Matematika (KAM) siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa melalui model Problem Based Learning menjadi lebih baik. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-7 SMP Negeri 12 Padang yang terdiri dari 32 orang. Siswa yang awalnya berkemampuan rendah meningkat menjadi siswa berkemampuan sedang dengan peningkatan sebesar 75 %. Siswa yang awalnya tergolong berkemampuan sedang meningkat menjadi siswa berkemampuan tinggi sebesar 26 %. Siswa sudah mampu 1) memahami masalah, 2) menyusun rencana penyelesaian, 3) melaksanakan penyelesaian, dan 4) mengecek kembali jawaban. Analysis of Students' Problem Solving Abilities Based on Early Mathematical Ability AbstractThe lack of students' mathematical problem-solving skills causes students to be less able to solve problems that are non-routine and students are still lacking in developing their ideas and abilities. This study aims to determine students 'mathematical problem-solving abilities through the Problem Based Learning model based on students' Early Mathematical Ability (KAM). The research method used is qualitative. The results of this study indicate that students' mathematical problem-solving abilities through the Problem Based Learning model are better. The sample in this study were students of class VIII-7 Middle School 12 Padang consisting of 32 people. Students who were initially low-skilled increased to moderate-capable students with an increase of 75%. Students who were initially classified as capable were increasing to high-ability students by 26%. Students can 1) understand the problem, 2) draw up a settlement plan, 3) carry out the solution, and 4) re-check the answers.

AbstrakArtikel ini menyajikan bagaimana model Pembelajaran Berbasih Masalah diterapkan pada materi pola bilangan di kelas VII Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (Problem Based Learning) adalah suatu pendekatan pembelajaran yang menggunakan masalah dunia nyata sebagai suatu konteks bagi siswa untuk belajar tentang cara berfikir kritis dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah, serta untuk memperoleh pengetahuan dan konsep yang esensial dari materi pelajaran. Pembelajaran berbasis masalah digunakan untuk merangsang berfikir tingkat tinggi dalam situasi berorientasi masalah, termasuk didalamnya belajar bagaimana belajar. Adapun langkah-langkah dari model pembelajaran tersebut  memiliki 5 tahapan yaitu 1) Tahap orientasi peserta didik pada masalah, 2) Tahap mengorganisasi peserta didik dalam belajar. 3) Tahap membimbing penyelidikan secara individu maupun kelompok. 4) Tahap mengembangkan dan menyajikan hasil karya. 5) Tahap  menganalisa dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah. Selanjutnya bagaimana aktifitas guru dan siswa dalam model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (Problem Based Learning) dalam materi pola bilangan akan dibahas dalam artikel ini. AbstractThis article presents how the Problem-Based Learning model is applied to the numerical pattern material in Grade VII of Junior High School. Problem Based Learning is a learning approach that uses real-world problems as a context for students to learn about critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and to acquire essential knowledge and concepts from subject matter. Problem-based learning is used to stimulate high-level thinking in problem-oriented situations, including learning how to learn. The steps of the learning model have 5 stages namely 1) Stage orientation learners on the problem, 2) Stage of organizing learners in learning. 3) Stage guiding individual and group investigations. 4) Stage of developing and presenting the work. 5) Phase analyze and evaluate problem solving process. Furthermore, how the activities of teachers and students in the model of Problem Based Learning (Problem Based Learning) in the matter of number patterns will be discussed in this article.

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of problem-based learning model-assisted learning concept maps on learning outcomes of students in the subject matter of dynamic power in the second half of class X SMA Negeri Medan FY 14 2013/2014. This research is a quasi-experiment with the entire population of students in grade 14 class X SMA Negeri Medan, amounting to 9 classes. The study sample consisted of two classes defined by cluster random sampling technique, which is a class X IPA-3 by using a model-assisted learning problem based learning concept maps and IPA-2 class X using conventional learning models. The instrument used in this study was twofold: 1) achievement test in the form of multiple choice with 5 possible answers of 20 questions that have been declared valid by the validator. 2) observation sheet student learning activities. The average value of student activities for learning problem-based learning model with the concept of classified active-assisted map. Based on the t test at significance level α = 0.05 level, we could say that there is an influence model of learning problem-based learning-assisted concept mapping on learning outcomes of students in the subject matter of dynamic electric field in SMA 14 TA 2013/2014. Keywords   :         problem based learning, concept maps, learning outcomes, activities.

This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning model for student learning outcomes in the subject matter straight motion X class first semester of SMA 11 Medan T.A. 2014/2015. This research is quasi experiment. The population is the entire class X MIA semester SMA 11 Medan consists of five classes. Samples were taken two classes of grade X MIA 3 as the experimental class and class X MIA 4 as the control class, each of which consist of 40 students is determined by cluster random sampling. Both classes are given different treatment, the experimental class with problem-based learning model and grade control with conventional learning. The data used in the research is a description of the number of about 10 items that have been divalidkan. The results showed that the learning outcomes of students using problem-based learning model has increased significantly. Testing results of the study by testing the hypothesis of effect is obtained that the problem-based learning model for student learning outcomes in the subject matter straight motion X class first semester of SMA 11 Medan T.A. 2014/2015. Keywords :    problem-based learning, straight motion, student learning                        outcomes

This study was aimed to know the differences in students' mathematical problem solving skills in problem basedlearning models with cooperative type thinking aloud pairs problem solving with a scientific approach at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu. Thedesign of this research was a quasi-experimental, used a pre-test post-test control group design. The population in this study were all students of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu consist of 6 classes, with samples consist of 3 classes, the first experimental class with the problem based learning model, the second experimental class cooperative learning model type thinking aloud pairs problem solving and conventional learning as a control class. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. Data collection was done by using a test of students' mathematical problem solving skills. The results of the research data were analyzed using one-way ANAVA test and BNT test. The prerequisite test used the Kolmogrove-Smirnov test to see normality and Bartlet's test to see homogeneity. The significant level used is 0.05. The research data showed  that there was a significant difference in students' mathematical problem-solving ability in the learning model of Problem Based Learning, cooperative type thinking aloud pairs problem solving in SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu, and problem based learning learning model which gives better results compared to the thinking type cooperative learning model thinking aloud Pairs problem solving at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu.Keywords: mathematical problem solving, PBL,TAPPS

The background of the research is based on the fact that problem solving skills and its process is still low so that those create overload information. Another way to overcome this problem is to use a problem-based learning model which concerns on cognitive load theory. This study is aimed to determine on how students' problem solving skills when using a problem-based learning model modified by cognitive load theory. This research method uses a combination of research methods, namely quantitative as primary data and qualitative as secondary data. The population in this study are all students of grade VII Junior High School accredited A in Tangerang Regency. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling and the selected sample is 60 students of Grade VII SMP Negeri 3 Cikupa which divided into experimental class and control class. The instruments in this research are 5 short essay tests and non-tests, questionnaire and interview. Based on data analysis’ result, it can be concluded that the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities which use problem-based learning model modified by cognitive load theory is better than for those using problem-based learning generally.
