This research was the qualitative research that aimed to improve students understanding of junior high mathematics study. In accordance with the object to be studied, then this research is done in 3 times open class consisting of the plan, do, and see for each cycle, with the subject of research was the students of mathematics education department of FKIP UNIPA whom contracting subjects junior mathematics studies. To improve students understanding of the material, implementation of peer tutor methods was continuously modified based on the findings of each cycle. Based on the results of the implementation of Lesson Study as much as 3 cycles obtained the concluded that the learning outcomes of learners used peer tutor approach that modified each cycle has a significant increase. This was evident from students who answered the test correctly given at the end of each meeting. In the first cycle, from 27 students only 4 who can answer the test correctly that is equal to 14.81%, the second cycle, from 27 learners only 10 which was able to answer the test correctly that was equal to 37,04%, whereas in cycle III, from 26 students 21 students able to answer correctly that was equal to 80,77%

During the 1973-74 school year. two sixth-grade classes in New York conducted classroom tri als of hand-held calculators. Each child in these classes had a Bowmar “Brain” hand-held calculator for his usc during mathematics lessons each day. The project was organized by the Bureau of Mathematics Education, New York State Education Department. The calculators were provided free of charge by Bowmar/ALl, Inc., and supervision was provided by the principals of the project schools.

Mathematics education students’ ability on developing evidence needs to be reviewed by lecturers. 50% of the subjects in the mathematics education departement require students' accuracy in analyzing mathematical statements. This is increasingly important because the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) for the Bachelor level requires graduates to become technicians / analysts. The diversity of levels of students’ ability, gender, and learning styles are assumsed to be the discrepancy abilities to develop evidence. This study aims to describe the evidence developing ability based on the levels of achievement, gender, and student learning styles. The subjects of this study were abstact algebra students in the mathematics education department. Type of this research was descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques using test and non-test techniques. Students were given five questions about abstact algebra that demanded the evidence developing ability. The achivement levels and gender were obtained from students’ academic achievement data. The learning styles were attained from questionnaires. The results of the study is higher the students’ academic achievement, better the evidence developing ability on Abstract Algebra. The gender does not affect the evidence developing ability on Abstact Algebra. Students with visual learning styles have the ability to develop evidence better than students with other learning styles.

English Mathematics course mostly deals with comprehension questions, grammar and vocabulary related to the field of Mathematics. The goal is that students have the confidence in communicating using English as well as utilize various sources of English teaching materials. But in reality, they usually experience several problems as the medium of instruction changes from their mother tongue to another language. This phenomenon in the case of Mathematics education brings the consequences faced by Mathematics educators. This paper describes the understanding of Mathematicsematical concepts in English textbooks (Fraction) on the students of English Mathematics Study Course of Mathematics Education of Madura University. The data that used in this research is the result of the translation scripts of students at the Mathematics education department on the fractional concepts in English textbooks, observations on the student presentation and interviews. The result of this research are, Subjects still have not been able to understand the meaning of fractions that are linked in real objects and clear Mathematicsematical models., subjects still used word-for-word translation, translating without providing meaningful information and also lack of vocabulary.

This research aims to investigate, compare, and describe the achievement and enhancement of students' mathematical communication skills (MCS). It based on the prior mathematical knowledge (PMK) category (high, medium and low) by using Treffinger models (TM) and conventional learning (CL). This research is an experimental study with the population of all students of Mathematics Education Department who took Discrete Mathematics subject matter of one university in the city of Ternate. The results show that (1) the achievement and enhancement of MCS  students that used  TM are higher than the students learning using CL; (2) Based on the categories of PMK, the achievement and enhancement of MCS of students using TM are also higher than those learning with CL; and (3) There was no interaction effect between learning (TM and CL) and PMK to the achievement and enhancement of MCS of the students.Keyword: Communication Skills, Prior Mathematical Knowledge, Treffinger Model

This research is quatitative research. The population in this study was students of Mathematics Education of Musamus University amounted to 210 students. Sampling technique used is convenience non probability sampling technique and obtained 78 students as sample. Data collection techniques used were questionnaire and interview, then the data from the questionnaire were analyzed using simple correlation and linear regression analysis. The result of the research shows that there is influence of gadgets usage on the independence learning of students in Mathematics Education of Musamus University, in which there is a relationship between the "medium" category between gadgets usage and the independence learning of students in Mathematics Education of Musamus University. Contribution given by gadget usage variable to the independence of learning as 27.2%.

Abstract. Teaching practice (PPL) is one of the compulsory subjects weighing four credits held for three months at school. In the last two years, mathematics education department of FKIP ULM implement Lesson Study based PPL in six Junior High Schools in Banjarmasin. At this moment, Lesson Study is implemented in schools by teachers in order to foster and develop educator profession. The purpose of implementation of Lesson study based PPL Study is to give student teachers teaching skills and applying them in the classroom. The research method used is descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection used observation, interviews and Forum Group Discusssion. The research sample consisted of 4 mathematics education department students which are taking PPL program . The study was classified as action research-based Lesson Study. Data analysis refers to analysis of notes including lesson plans, observation and reflection. The results showed that the implementation of Lesson Study of four students started from Plan namely planning of lesson plans), Do namely implementation of lesson plan, observations results taking place during learning activities and the results of the reflection which was completed with suggestions for improvement of learning. Keywords: Lesson Study, PPL, plan-do-see Abstrak. Kata Kunci: Lesson Study, PPL, plan-do-see
