This research aims to investigate, compare, and describe the achievement and enhancement of students' mathematical communication skills (MCS). It based on the prior mathematical knowledge (PMK) category (high, medium and low) by using Treffinger models (TM) and conventional learning (CL). This research is an experimental study with the population of all students of Mathematics Education Department who took Discrete Mathematics subject matter of one university in the city of Ternate. The results show that (1) the achievement and enhancement of MCS  students that used  TM are higher than the students learning using CL; (2) Based on the categories of PMK, the achievement and enhancement of MCS of students using TM are also higher than those learning with CL; and (3) There was no interaction effect between learning (TM and CL) and PMK to the achievement and enhancement of MCS of the students.Keyword: Communication Skills, Prior Mathematical Knowledge, Treffinger Model

The purpose of this study was to analyze and explore the effectiveness of constructivism approaches in improving mathematical communication skills of junior high school students in the city of Paser. The experimental quasi method was used in this study to test the hypothesis of the study. The sample of the study at three junior high schools in Paser City, representing high, medium and low school students.. The instruments used in this study were pre-post test, pre-post questionnaires, and observation. The data were analyzed using independent sample t-tests, paired sample tests, annova tests, and descriptive analysis. The findings of pre-post test and pre-post questionnaire analysis using t-test showed that there were significant differences in group mathematical communication skills using constructivism approach compared to groups using conventional approaches at all achievement levels of high school students (high, simple and low). Based on the observation, it is found that high achievement school students have good mathematical communication skills in mathematical communication, these are identified in many aspects and observation indicators achieved by students during learning.

This paper will present the results of experiments in a class by conducting initial and final tests as well as in the control class by conducting mathematics learning in Madrasah Aliyah through contextual approaches, as an effort to improve communication and mathematical connections and student learning interests. Respondents in this study were 72 students from class X Natural Sciences in the city of Bandung. The instruments used include tests of mathematical communication skills, tests of mathematical connection abilities and questionnaires. Interest in learning mathematics. It was found from the researcher that in the mathematics learning class using a contextual approach, communication skills and mathematical connections were better than ordinary classes, even though both of these abilities were classified as low. While interest in learning mathematics in the experimental class is better than in the control class with moderate differences. As for the other things, it turns out that there is no association between communication abilities and mathematical connections Keywords: Mathematic Communication, Mathematic connection, contextual approach

Communication skills are an essential aspect that students need to possess by students who want to succeed in their studies, where students' mathematical communication can organize mathematical thinking both orally and in writing. While AQ is intelligent in facing difficulties, a student must face the problems that exist in them. This study aims to determine the profile of prospective mathematics prospective teacher's mathematical communication skills in terms of adversity quotient. This study was conducted on mathematics education students in the 6th semester of Universitas PGRI Semarang. This research is a descriptive qualitative study. Subjects taken from 57 respondents were three students in the category of climbers, campers, and quitters. Written tests and interviews do data collection. Indicators of mathematical communication skills used in this study include drawing, writing, and mathematical expression. The results showed that the subject climber can meet all the indicators of mathematical communication skills and can be said to be good. Subject campers tend to meet all indicators of mathematical communication skills, have the power of communication in indicators drawing, and be quite useful. Quitter's subject tends not to meet all the communication indicators. The subject does not answer the drawing indicator's problem, and the writing and mathematical expression indicators are still wrong.

The purpose of this research is to identify which aspects of the communication skills and mathematics connections of the prospective mathematics teacher that need to be improved. The subjects of the research were 34 fourth-semester students of Mathematics Education Study Program, State University of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, who took Discrete Mathematics course from February to May 2012. The identifications are done through 6 times by quizzes/tests. The aspect of mathematical communication that had been studied was the ability of students in: (1) writing the statements, reasons, or explanations, and (2) using terms, notations, tables, diagrams, charts, drawings, illustrations, mathematical models, or formulas. While the aspect of mathematical connections that had been examined was the ability of students in: (1) stating the relationship between facts, concepts, or mathematics principles, (2) developing a mathematical model of the daily life problems, and (3) mentioning the concept underlying the solution from the given mathematical problems. Results shows that the students tend to be weak in: (1) writing down the reasons, (2) using charts, pictures, and illustrations, and (3) developing a mathematical model.

The purpose of this study was to find out how the mathematical communication skills of students in solving the problem of flat building of class VII triangles in one of the SMP in the city of Cimahi. Data collection uses written tests for 33 students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research that is analyzing students' difficulties in solving mathematical communication skills on indicators stating everyday events and lowering the quadrangular flat building area formula of grade VII students of junior high school. The results of this study can be concluded that there are 6.06% (2 students) who have excellent mathematical communication skills, 93.94% (33 students) have good mathematical communication skills and 0% (no students) who have communication skills mathematically is not good at problem 1 which indicator states everyday events and decreases the formula of quadrilateral flat building. This is due to the lack of ability of students to communicate their ideas so that they cannot solve problems in the given questions and even if asked they can only smile and be quiet.

Mathematics communication is a way of sharing ideas and clarifying comprehension. The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can improve mathematical communication skills. The student worksheet is used because it is shorter, more comfortable and summarizes the material along with the questions to be able to assist students in the ability of mathematics communication. This study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of student worksheets based on Realistic Mathematics Education Approach to improve students' mathematical communication skills. This research is development research with ADDIE development model, that is analysis, design, develop, evaluation implementation. The subject of this research is the students of the first grade of VII. Instruments used in the form of validation sheet, mathematics communication ability test, and interview guidance manual. The validation sheet is addressed to material experts and media experts. The test to determine students 'mathematical communication skills is done before and after the use of student worksheet so that it is known whether there is an increase in students' mathematical communication ability. Interview guides are conducted with teachers and students to find out the curricula and character of students in the school. Data analysis techniques in this study using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The resulting student worksheet design based on the RME approach that matches the characteristics, curriculum, and student tasks. This research can be developed to the stage of development, implementation, and evaluation.

This study aims to determine the effect of self efficacy on students' mathematical communication skills through learning using the SPSS application. The use of SPSS applications in learning, specifically in Education Statistics courses supports for students in subject matter. This research is a correlation approach. All students of Semester VII Mathematics Education at the Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah be population in this study. By using a sample of research in Semester VII-A Academic Year 2019/2020. The research instrument consisted of tests of mathematical communication skills and self efficacy questionnaires. Tests and questionnaires were provided after the learning process using the SPSS application. This research analyzed by using regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the correlation value of 0.660 means that it is a strong ability for students' mathematical communication skills. And the regression equation is Y = 0,62X + 66,571.
