Reducing the costs of the transport component, reaching up to 50% or more of the total cost of the mined coal, is an urgent task that does not require additional confirmation. Since the development of measures to improve the purely technical indicators of motor transport at open-pit mines is beyond the scope of the general study, we will limit ourselves to the search for technological solutions that can have a positive impact on the overall cost of production. This may include, for example, the search for solutions to reduce the duration of the transport cycle and optimization of its components. It is also necessary to study the possible changes in the indicators of the transport technology of open-pit mining when using classic open-pit dump trucks and autonomous heavy platforms (unmanned open-pit haul trucks). The article presents an analysis of existing technical and technological solutions and research on the use of unmanned transport technologies. It is established that the parameters of transport technology will change to some extent with the introduction of unmanned heavy platforms, which will inevitably lead both to the correction of the existing regulatory documentation, and a possible revision of the classical postulates of open-pit mining.

The results of crack formation monitoring in metal structures of BelAZ heavy dump trucks during their operation at Kuzbass open-casts are given in the article. Possible causes and areas of the crack-like defects formation during operation of heave dump trucks at depths greater than 300 m are considered. The assembly units and elements of heave dump trucks and the areas of the highest total stresses are determined by solid modeling, strength analysis and monitoring of the condition of metal structures under production conditions. The law of crack length development in the areas of the transaxle-housing component and the fastening of the hydraulic cylinder depending on the number of loading cycles is established. The stresses dependence arising in the structural elements of heavy dump trucks during operation under various loads, on the number of loading cycles to failure, is presented.

The purpose of this article is to develop and substantiate rational designs of slope hoisting systems for dump trucks in the open pit mines. In order to reduce the time losses associated with idle mileage in the transport cycle, it is proposed to use the slope hoisting plants only for hauling down the empty trucks. The basic arrangements of slope hoisting systems have been analyzed. A rational field of using them has been determined. The lack of experience in operation of slope hoisting systems with multi-rope friction winders, the possibility of reducing a friction ratio due to freezing and wetting the rope leave no chance to recognize this technical solution to be reliable. The article presents the results of the design study and determination of parameters of a hoister with a reeving system of suspension of one platform to haul down the 130-ton trucks. The developed hoisting plant consists of the main parts as follows: two 1-65.6/0.8 single-drum hoisters; a platform for transporting the truck; a headframe for placing the deflection sheaves; two deflection sheaves; two inclined rail tracks to move the platform. The article proposes the new technical solutions for hoisting plants with two platforms, which are alternately used for hauling down the empty trucks. The developed technology promotes improvement of the operational performance of dump trucks in the open pit mines.

The paper provides an analysis for production of four-wheel drive dump trucks with an articulated frame and it also describes a practical experience pertaining to operation of dump trucks as mining automotive transport. Technical characteristics for some models of articulated dump trucks manufactured in Russia and Belarus are presented in the paper. The paper gives examples for transportation of run-of-mine ore at enterprises of Russia and abroad. The attention has been focused on specific features concerning organizational, technological and design decision making while introducing and promoting articulated dump trucks. It has been established that articulated dump trucks make it possible to improve an efficiency of mine development during construction period and when ore mining and processing enterprises are put into operation especially in geographically remote and inaccessible areas. The paper proposes technological solutions allowing to expand the scope of articulated dump truck application at mining enterprises while using them for quarry development excavating deep deposits of solid minerals. It has been revealed that reduction in overburden volume can be achieved by transition from a certain depth to lower capacity dump trucks or special dump trucks operating on elevated slopes of roads. The paper shows that one of perspective directions for development of mining technology on kimberlite deposits is an opening of lower quarry horizons by peripheral road tunnels of spiral shape while using articulated dump trucks. The presented technological solutions require further research and design consideration and study and they will allow to ensure resource efficiency and safety of surface mining while extracting minerals at previously uneconomic ore deposits. In order to realize an import substitution program for four-wheel drive dump trucks with an articulated frame it is necessary to carry out marketing research on potential market for machines of this class required for open-pit mining in order to justify prospects for provision of the Russian production market.

Research aim is to develop the method of assessing and systematizing open pit automobile transport operating conditions. Research relevance. Pit depth growth and the introduction of modern models of dump trucks capable of working on 18–24% slopes complicate the conditions of industrial vehicles operation. In this regard, the development of the method and indicators of rock mass transportation difficulty becomes relevant as well as the systematization of vehicles operation conditions. Research methodology. The method of evaluating the difficulty of transportation is based on calculating diesel consumption per one haul cycle and reducing the actual length of the route to the relative horizontal distance with the use of rock mass vertical haul horizontal equivalents. Experimental and analytical dependences for horizontal equivalents have been determined. As a criterion of transportation difficulty evaluation, the use of operation conditions difficulty coefficient has been substantiated showing how many times truck’s power consumption when moving along the real route is higher than power consumption when moving along the horizontal macadamized route of the same length. Results. As a result of the research, the method of assessing and systematizing the operation conditions of open pit automobile transport. It has been determined that maximum values for conditions difficulty ISSN 0536-1028 «Известия вузов. Горный журнал», № 8, 2020 25 coefficients for the trucks with 4 × 2 wheel configuration are 2.6–3.0, and for all-wheel drive trucks – 5.0–6.5. By the difficulty coefficient, all operating conditions are divided into 5 classes (relatively easy, medium, difficult, very difficult, and extremely difficult). It has been determined that operating conditions in the most of diamond-mining open pits of ALROSA PJSC refer to class 3 and 4 (difficult and very difficult). The introduction of the all-wheel drive trucks will go along with the transition of operating conditions to class 5 (extremely difficult). For most of Ural pits classes 2 and 3 are typical (medium and difficult). Scope of results. Research results are to be used in open pit automobile transport design and operation when assessing and systematizing operating conditions, in technological calculations when regulating and planning diesel consumption and dump trucks capacity, and when correcting the regulatory standards of maintenance support, etc.

Chernogosky open pit mine integrates truck-and-shovel system of mining with overburden rehandling to internal dump with a set of walking excavators for rehandling of overburden to mined-out area of the pit. It is possible to improve efficiency of stripping in the conditions of Chernogorsky OPM by reducing percentage of stripping with more expensive handling system. The relevant research and solutions to this effect are presented in this article. Comparative characterization of mining conditions and parameters of mining systems applied is given for open pit mines Chernogorsky, Turnui, Nazarovsky, Vostochno-Beisky and Izykh. The comparative analysis points at the need to account for difficulty of mining and process sites in comparison of equipment productivity. High concentration of mining machines, which is conditioned by narrow mining front and simultaneous operation of five faces, as well as blasting operation implemented every 1-2 days, are recognized as the main constraints of excavator capacity in mining with direct dumping in Chernogorsky open pit mine. The management and engineering solutions implemented in the mine and resulted in higher efficiency of draglines are described.
