We investigate the effects of heterogeneous delays on the coupling of two excitable neural systems. Depending upon the coupling strengths and the time delays in the mutual and self-coupling systems, the compound system exhibits different types of synchronized oscillations of variable period. We analyze this synchronization based on the interplay of the different time delays and support the numerical results by analytical findings. In addition, we elaborate on bursting-like dynamics with two competing timescales on the basis of the autocorrelation function.

A nonlinear saturation controller (NSC) is applied in this work to reduce the oscillations of a rotating blade dynamical system running at unsteady rotating speed. The controller is coupled quadratically to the main system by designing its natural frequency to be one half of the main system natural frequency. This is done to setup an energy bridge between them to make use of saturation phenomenon. That phenomenon is advantageous when the excitation force increases; the whole energy in the main system is channeled to the controller. The two system modes of vibrations are found to be linearly coupled powerfully, so the controller is applied only to the first mode and, consequently, the second mode tracks it. The multiple scales perturbation technique (MSPT) is adopted to derive the steady state equations that describe the modulations of amplitudes and phases of the system before and after control. Then, a stability analysis is achieved via Lyapunov’s indirect method to determine the stable and unstable solutions depending on the real parts of the Jacobian matrix eigenvalues. Time history and different response curves of the controlled system are included for showing the controller effect. Eventually, validation curves and comparison with previously published work are included.

In this paper, we establish a new sufficient condition of the permanence for the Lotka–Volterra cooperative systems with multiple discrete delays by extending the results in [Nakata and Muroya, Permanence for nonautonomous Lotka–Volterra cooperative systems with delays, Nonlinear Anal. RWA., in press]. Our condition holds even if the instantaneous feedback does not dominate over the total of the interspecific interactions and does not need the restriction on the size of time delays, different from the results in [Lu and Lu, Permanence for two-species Lotka–Volterra cooperative systems with delays, Math. Biosci. Eng.5 (2008) 477–484]. We offer an example for comparison with the previous results and numerical results supporting our theoretical analysis are given.

The paper presents analytical and numerical results of the primary resonance of a Duffing oscillator with two distinct time delays in the linear feedback control under narrow-band random excitation. Using the method of multiple scales, the first-order and the second-order steady-state moments of the primary resonance are derived. For the case of two distinct time delays, the appropriate choices of the combinations of the feedback gains and the difference between two time delays are discussed from the viewpoint of vibration control and stability. The analytical results are in well agreement with the numerical results.

AbstractA swarming model is a model that describes the behavior of the social aggregation of a large group of animals or the community of humans. In this work, the swarming model that includes the short-range repulsion and long-range attraction with the presence of time delay is investigated. Moreover, the convergence to a consensus representing dispersion and cohesion properties is proved by using the Lyapunov functional approach. Finally, numerical results are provided to demonstrate the effect of time delay on the motion of the group of agents.

PT XYZ often experiences time delays because in every delay made there is always a penalty given to the company and this results in additional costs, therefore this must be avoided by making efficient scheduling, in this case repairs are carried out by minimizing the maximum completion time of Cmax on parallel machines that are patterned with flowshop flow (and no interruptions should be carried out on the work being processed, to do other work, one track only produces one product and only one product is directly worked. Different completion times of each machine with the workmanship is also the problem faced to make this machine suitable to be one scheduling integrated with integer programming methods that makes scheduling with the operational research concept with the 0-1 approach method to be more efficient, resulting in minimization of the delay in the total settlement of orders with 42.28 minutes was better than before.
