The objective of this study was to perform a malacological assessment at the Ibirité reservoir watershed in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) and to evaluate the natural infestation rate of Biomphalaria straminea (Gastropoda: Planorbidae)by Schistosoma mansoni (Platyhelminthes: Trematoda) and Chaetogaster limnaei (Oligochaeta: Naididae). The samples were collected from July to August 2002. The B. straminea individuals collected were kept in the laboratory; the natural infestation rate by S. mansoni and C. limnaei was assessed weekly. The malacological assessment identified fivemollusk species present in the Ibirité reservoir watershed: B. straminea, Physa marmorata, Lymnea sp., Melanoides tuberculatus,and Pomacea austrum. Laboratory observations showed that the B. straminea individuals were infected by C. limnaei rather than S. mansoni. Although there was no infection of B. straminea by S. mansoni,presence of B. straminea in itself merits close attention due to possible risk of human schistosomiasis by the local population.

ResumoEste artigo tem como objetivo discutir as contribuições da Etnomatemática para a promoção da educação financeira de alunos Surdos bilíngues. Dessa maneira, nossas reflexões estão baseadas em alguns resultados obtidos em uma pesquisa qualitativa que foi conduzida em uma escola pública, especializada no atendimento de alunos surdos, localizada em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Os participantes desse estudo são alunos jovens e adultos Surdos considerados bilíngues pelo fato de utilizarem a Libras (Língua Brasileira de Sinais) como primeira língua e o português como segunda língua. O material empírico foi produzido por meio dos registros das atividades matemáticas realizadas pelos estudantes surdos, das videogravações das aulas de matemática, do diário de campo do professor-pesquisador e de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Esse material foi analisado e interpretado de acordo com os pressupostos da Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados (Grounded Theory). Os resultados indicam que a condução de aulas de matemática na perspectiva da etnomatemática e uma abordagem de educação bilíngue foram essenciais para o desenvolvimento do ensino de matemática de alunos Surdos.Palavras-chave: Etnomatemática, Cultura Surda, Língua Brasileira de Sinais. AbstractThis article aims to discuss the contributions of Ethnomathematics towards to the promotion of Mathematics Education of bilingual Deaf students. Thus, our reflections are based on some results obtained in a qualitative research that was conducted in a public school specialized in attending Deaf students, which is located in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. <p>O estudo foi realizado no município de Rio Acima, localizado ao sul da região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte - MG. Na primeira etapa, foi feita a determinação das áreas de preservação permanente (APPs) do município, segundo a Lei 12.651 e a resolução CONAMA 303/2002 (esta última para delimitar as APPs de topo de morro), utilizando cinco bases topográficas distintas: vetorização de cartas do IBGE na escala de 1:50.000, imagem SRTM, Topodata, ASTER V2 e uma base vetorial disponibilizada pelo Codemig com curvas de nível equidistantes em 10 metros. Na segunda etapa, foram calculadas as áreas de cada uma das classes de APP resultantes dos mapeamentos feitos a partir de todas as bases e, em seguida, estes valores foram comparados. Ao final, foi observado que os resultados obtidos a partir da base do IBGE e da imagem ASTER V2 são os que apresentam característica mais restritiva, ou seja, com maiores áreas de preservação. Por outro lado, o mapa de áreas de preservação permanente confeccionado a partir da imagem SRTM foi o que apresentou caráter menos restritivo. Neste estudo também são discutidas outras diferenças entre os mapas elaborados a partir das cinco bases. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Palavras–chave:</strong> Município de Rio Acima, áreas de preservação permanente, modelos digitais de elevação, resolução espacial.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Abstract </strong></p><p>This study was conducted in the municipality of Rio Acima (Minas Gerais State) located in the southern Belo Horizonte metropolitan region. In the first stage five different topographic bases were used to lay down the city permanent preservation areas (PPA) according to the Law 12,651 and CONAMA resolution 303/2002 (the latter to delimit the hilltop’s PPAs PPAs). These bases are the following: the vector at a 1:50.000 scale provided by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), SRTM image, image provided by INPE Topodata project, ASTER V2 Image and a vector base released by Codemig with 10 meters contour distance. In the second stage the areas of each one PPA classes were calculated resulting from all mapping bases. Then these values were compared. Finally it was observed that the results obtained from the ASTER V2 image and IBGE base are those with more restrictive features or in other words the result with lager PPAs. Moreover, the map of permanent preservation areas made from SRTM image showed the least restrictive character. This research on ethnomodelling was conducted in both a state public school and in a local farmers’ market in a metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in Brazil. The main objective of this study was to identify how dialogic approaches of ethnomodelling could contribute to the process of re-signification of function concepts learned by 38 students in the second year of high school during their interaction with a local farmer and his labor practices. Another objective was to understand the importance of cultural conceptions and elaboration of ethnomodels extracted from the mathematical practices developed by this farmer for use as a pedagogical action in the classrooms. For the data collection, three blocks of activities were used, two questionnaires (initial and final), a semi-structured interview with the farmer, a seminar with students and the farmer, and the teacher-researcher fieldnotes. The collected data, both of a quantitative and qualitative nature, were analyzed simultaneously with the use of the Mixed Method Study through a QUAN + QUAL design. After this analysis, qualitative data were quantified in order to enable the interpretation of the results through the elaboration of three categories School Environment, Out-of-School Environment and Dialogical Environment. The results of this study show that ethnomodelling provides an integrative approach to school mathematics curriculum by considering both the emic and etic mathematical knowledge through the development of a dialogic approach that shows the relevance of its cultural dynamism.Keywords: Ethnomodelling. El objetivo principal de este estudio fue identificar cómo el enfoque dialógico de la etnomodelación puede contribuir al proceso de re-significación de los conceptos de funciones aprendios por 38 estudiantes de segundo año de la escuela secundária durante sus interacciones con un vendedor del mercado de agricultores y sus prácticas de trabajo. Otro objetivo fue comprender la importancia de la concepción cultural y de la elaboración de etnomodelos que se extrajeron de las prácticas matemáticas desarrolladas por este vendedor para ser utilizadas como una acción pedagógica en el aula. Para la recopilación de los datos, utilizamos tres bloques de actividades, dos cuestionarios (inicial y final), una entrevista semiestructurada con el vendedor, un seminario con los estudiantes y el vendedor, y el diario de campo del profesor-investigador. La naturaleza de la recopilación de datos fue cualitativa y cuantitativa, analizándose simultáneamente con el uso del método QUAN+QUAL. Después de este análisis, los datos cualitativos se cuantificaron para permitir la interpretación de los resultados mediante la elaboración de tres categorías: Entorno escolar, Entorno Fuera de la Escuela, Entorno Dialógico. Los resultados de este estudio muestran que la etnomodelación proporciona una integración entre el plan de estudios matemáticos de la escuela al considerar el conocimiento ético y ético a través del enfoque dialógico, lo que demuestra la relevancia del dinamismo cultural.Palabras clave: Etnomodelación. Re-significación de funciones.Conectando a Etnomatemática e a Modelagem: um estudo do método misto para entender a abordagem dialógica da EtnomodelagemEssa pesquisa em etnomodelagem foi conduzida em uma escola pública estadual e em uma feira livre situada na região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil. O principal objetivo desse estudo foi identificar como a abordagem dialógica da etnomodelagem pode contribuir para o processo de re-significação de conceitos de funções aprendidos por 38 alunos do segundo ano do Ensino Médio durante as suas interações com um feirante e as suas práticas laboriais. Outro objetivo foi compreender a importância da concepção cultural e da elaboração de etnomodelos que foram extraídos das práticas desenvolvidas por esse feirante para serem utilizados como uma ação pedagógica em sala de aula. Para a coleta de dados, foram utilizados três blocos de atividades, dois questionários (inicial e final), uma entrevista semi-estruturada com o feirante, um seminário com os estudantes e o feirante, e o diário de campo do professor-pesquisador. A natureza da coleta de dados foi qualitativa e quantitativa, sendo analisada simultaneamente com a utilização do Método do Estudo Misto design metodológico QUAN+QUAL. Depois dessa análise, os dados qualitativos foram quantificados visando possibilitar a interpretação dos resultados por meio da elaboração de três categorias Ambiente Escolar, Ambiente Extraescolar, Ambiente Dialógico. Os resultados desse estudo mostram que a etnomodelagem propicia uma integração entre o currículo matemático escolar considerando simultaneamente o conhecimento êmico e ético através da abordagem dialógica, demonstrando a relevância do dinamismo cultural.Palavras chave: Etnomodelagem. O objetivo do trabalho é analisar, de uma perspectiva geral e comparativa, o comportamento das lideranças políticas dos municípios pertencentes à Região Metropolitana de Belo Horizonte frente aos constrangimentos e incentivos às relações intergovernamentais, no âmbito metropolitano, proporcionados por três diferentes modelos de organização da cooperação intergovernamental: (a) aquele imposto pelo governo federal nos anos 1970, altamente hierarquizado; (b) o do “hipermunicipalismo simétrico”, instituído após a Constituição Estadual de Minas Gerais, de 1989; e (c) o de integração dita “negociada”, que está sendo implantado desde 2006. Objetiva-se analisar as estratégias adotadas pelos municípios da RMBH diante dos distintos graus de liberdade que lhes foram concedidos pelos três modelos, e da capacidade de monopolização da agenda e de priorização de determinados interesses por parte dos municípios do eixo econômico e dos governos estadual e federal.Palavras-chave: metrópoles; gestão metropolitana; relações intergovernamentais; Região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte; Ambel. Abstract: The paper aims to analyze, from a general and comparative perspective, the behavior of the political leadership of the municipalities that are part of Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, given the incentives and constraints to the intergovernmental relations, in the metropolitan sphere, posed by the three distinct models institutionalized to produce intergovernmental cooperation: (a) the one imposed by the Federal Government in the 1970s, highly hierarchical; (b) the one characterized by “symmetrical hipermunicipalism”, that was institutionalized after Minas Gerais State Constitution of 1989; and (c) the one of “negotiated integration”, which has been built since 2006. The objective is to analyze the strategies adopted by the municipalities in the face of the several degrees of autonomy conceded by the three models and of the capacity to monopolize the agenda and to give priority to certain interests by the municipalities belonging to the region’s economic axis and by state and federal government. Brazil has experienced several arbovirus outbreaks in recent years, among which yellow fever stands out. The state of Minas Gerais faced outbreaks of sylvatic yellow fever in 2017 and 2018, with 1002 confirmed cases and 340 deaths. This work presents the results of survey efforts to detect the yellow fever virus in mosquitoes from two conservation areas in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. A total of 867 mosquitoes of 20 species were collected between September 2017 and May 2018, the most abundant being Psorophora (Janthinosoma) ferox (von Humboldt, 1819) (31.3%), Limatus durhamii Theobald, 1901 (19.1%) and Haemagogus (Haemagogus) janthinomys Dyar, 1921 (18.2%). Total RNA was extracted from the mosquitoes for real-time PCR analysis for yellow fever, chikungunya, mayaro, Zika and dengue viruses. The yellow fever infection rate was 8.2% for Hg. janthinomys (13 mosquitoes), which is the main vector of sylvatic yellow fever in Brazil. In addition to surveying the mosquito fauna of these conservation units, this work demonstrates the importance of monitoring the circulation of viruses near large urban centers.

Forest fragmentation associated with the expansion of human development is a phenomenon that occurs worldwide. Studies reveal that there have been both a decline in species diversity and a decrease in Neotropical bat population size because of habitat loss. The aim of this study was to investigate whether human action has been affecting the food availability to wildlife species, which could impact the storage of body energy reserves. For this purpose, fruit-eating bats (Artibeus lituratus) were collected in two areas in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The concentrations of plasma glucose, as well as glycogen, lipids and protein in liver in muscles were performed, in addition to adipose tissue weight and carcass fatty acids. Our results indicate that fat reserves were significantly lower in most tested tissues (muscle of the hindlimbs, breast muscles, adipose tissue and carcass) in animals collected in the region with a higher degree of human disturbance. The other parameters showed no significant differences in the groups collected at different locations. In conclusion, we suggest that human action on the environment may be affecting the storage of body fat energy reserves of this species during the autumn, particularly in metropolitan region areas of Belo Horizonte, MG - Brazil, requiring special attention to the species conservation.
