ABSTRACT Introduction Autonomic nervous system dysregulation is commonly observed in Gulf War illness (GWI). Using a new sample, we sought to replicate and extend findings from a previous study that found autonomic symptoms predicted physical functioning in Veterans with GWI. Materials and Methods A linear regression model was used to predict physical functioning (36-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36); n = 73, 75% male). First, we examined the predictive value of independent variables individually in the model including: the 31-item Composite Autonomic Symptom Score (COMPASS-31) total score, body mass index (BMI), mental health burden (i.e., post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD] and/or depression), and COMPASS-31 subscales: orthostatic intolerance, vasomotor, secretomotor, gastrointestinal, bladder, and pupillomotor. Next, we estimated linear regression models containing the three variables (autonomic symptoms, BMI, and mental health burden) identified as predictors of physical functioning from the prior study. Results These linear regression models significantly predicted physical functioning and accounted for 15% of the variance with COMPASS-31, 36.6% of variance with COMPASS-31 and BMI, and 38.2% of variance with COMPASS-31, BMI, and mental health burden. Then, forward step-wise linear regressions were applied to explore new models including COMPASS-31 subscales. Two new models accounted for more of the variance in physical functioning: 39.3% with added gastrointestinal symptoms (β = −2.206, P = .001) and 43.4% of variance with both gastrointestinal (β = −1.592, P = .008) and secretomotor subscales (β = −1.533, P = .049). Unlike the previous study we intended to replicate, mental health burden was not a significant predictor in any of our models. Conclusions Treatments that address autonomic dysregulation should be prioritized for research and clinical recommendations for Veterans with GWI who experience chronic pain.

175 Background: Older adults with cancer and worse self-rated mental health report worse care experiences. We hypothesized that, controlling for health and demographic characteristics, older adults with cancer who received care for anxiety or mood disorders would report better care experiences. Methods: We used SEER-CAHPS data to identify Medicare beneficiaries, aged 66 and over, diagnosed from August 2006 through December 2013 with one of the 10 most prevalent solid tumor malignancies. To identify utilization for anxiety or mood disorders (screening, diagnosis, or treatment), we analyzed inpatient, outpatient, home health, physician, and prescription drug claims from 12 months before through up to 5 years after cancer diagnosis. Outcomes of interest were global care experience ratings (Overall Care, Personal Doctor, and Specialist; rated on a 0-10 scale) and composite measures (Getting Needed Care, Getting Care Quickly, and Doctor Communication; scored from 0-100). We estimated linear regression models and also used a Bayesian Model Averaging approach, adjusting for standard case-mix adjustors (including sociodemographics and self-reported general health and mental health status [MHS]) and other characteristics, including cancer site and stage at diagnosis. We also included interaction terms between mental health care utilization and MHS. Results: Approximately 22% of the overall sample (n = 4,998) had both cancer and a claim for an anxiety or mood disorder, and of those individuals, 18% reported fair/poor MHS. Only 7% of those in the cancer-only cohort reported fair/poor MHS. Before adjusting for mental health utilization, worse MHS was significantly associated with worse experience of care. After accounting for anxiety/mood disorder-related utilization, linear regression models showed no significant associations between fair/poor MHS and worse care experiences, while Bayesian models found that reliable associations remained between worse MHS and lower global ratings of Overall Care and Specialist. Conclusions: Utilization for anxiety/mood disorders mediates the association between fair/poor MHS and worse care experiences. Although MHS is a case-mix adjustor for CAHPS public reporting, it is important to recognize that care for anxiety or mood disorders may improve care experiences among seniors with cancer.

Background: Patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures are progressively utilized as evaluation tools in preoperative and postoperative assessments in orthopaedic practice. Identifying the potential utility of psychosocial factors to predict patient-reported pain and functional outcomes is of increasing interest to determine which patients will derive the greatest benefit from surgical treatment. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to determine potential predictive associations between the preoperative 12-Item Short Form Health Survey Mental Component Summary (SF-12 MCS) score, patient characteristics or osteochondral allograft (OCA) morphology, and PROs in patients who underwent OCA transplantation. We hypothesized that poor preoperative mental health is associated with diminished PROs at final follow-up. Study Design: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: A total of 67 patients with a mean follow-up of 2.7 ± 1.0 years (range, 2-6 years) with complete preoperative and at least 24-month postoperative SF-12 MCS, Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Tegner, Lysholm, and International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) scores were included in this study. Pearson correlation coefficients and linear regression models were used to distinguish associations between age, sex, smoking status, body mass index, workers’ compensation, previous surgery, concomitant surgery, number of grafts, defect location, total graft size, SF-12 MCS score, and postoperative PRO scores as well as their improvement from baseline (delta). Results: The SF-12 MCS showed significant correlation with the KOOS Activities of Daily Living subscale ( P = .015), KOOS Sport/Recreation subscale ( P = .024), and IKDC ( P = .039). In the multivariable linear regression models, the SF-12 MCS had no predictive association with any PRO measure. Patient sex contributed significantly to the final regression models of the KOOS Sport/Recreation ( P = .042), Tegner score ( P = .024), and Lysholm score ( P = .031). The SF-12 MCS showed no bivariate correlation with changes in any PRO score (delta) ( P > .05). Conclusion: Preoperative mental health status did not predict perceived functional outcomes as assessed by PRO measures at final follow-up. Female sex was negatively correlated with KOOS Sport/Recreation, Tegner, and Lysholm scores.

Offering credit is the main activity of a Bank. There are some considerations when a bank offers credit, that includes Interest Rates, Inflation, and NPL. This study aims to find out the impact of Variable Interest Rates, Inflation variables and NPL variables on credit disbursed. The object in this study is state-owned banks. The method of analysis in this study uses multiple linear regression models. The results of the study have shown that Interest Rates and NPL gave some negative impacts on the given credit. Meanwhile, Inflation variable does not have a significant effect on credit given. Keywords: Interest Rate, Inflation, NPL, offered Credit.

The main objective of this study is to examine a hypothesis that the predictive content of normal income disaggregated into operating income and nonoperating income outperforms that of aggregated normal income in predicting future cash flow. To test the hypothesis, linear regression models are developed. The model parameters are estimated based on fifty-five manufacturing firms listed in the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) up to the end of 1997.This study finds that empirical evidence supports the hypothesis. This evidence supports arguments that, in reporting income from continuing operations, multiple-step approach is preferred to single-step one.
