The high-energy QCD factorization for Deep Inelastic Scattering and for proton-nucleus collisions using Wilson line formalism and factorization in rapidity is discussed. We show that in DIS the factorization in rapidity reduces to the k T -factorization when the 2-gluon approximation is applied, provided that the composite Wilson line operator is used in the high-energy Operator Product Expansion. We then show that the inclusive forward cross-section in proton-nucleus collisions factorizes in parton distribution functions, fragmentation functions and dipole gluon distribution function at one-loop level.

We study the inclusive hadroproduction of B0, B+ and [Formula: see text] mesons at leading order in the Parton Reggeization Approach using the universal fragmentation functions extracted from the combined e+e- annihilation data from CERN LEP1 and SLAC SLC colliders. We have described B-meson transverse momentum distributions measured in the central region of rapidity by the CDF Collaboration at Fermilab Tevatron and CMS Collaboration at LHC within uncertainties and without free parameters, applying Kimber–Martin–Ryskin unintegrated gluon distribution function in a proton. The forward B-meson production (2.0<y<4.5) measured by the LHCb Collaboration also has been studied and expected disagreement between our theoretical predictions and data has been obtained.

To extract the polarized gluon distribution Δg, we study the large–pTlight hadron pair productions in polarized semi-inclusive reaction, which are dominantly produced via 2 mechanisms: photon–gluon fusion(PGF) and QCD Compton. The PGF gives us a direct information on Δg in the nucleon, whereas QCD Compton is background to the signal process for extracting Δg. By using symmetry relation among fragmentation functions and taking an appropriate combination of light hadron pair production processes, we can remove an effect of QCD Compton from those cross sections. Here we propose a new formula for extracting Δg from those processes.

Steady two-dimensional surface capillary–gravity waves in irrotational motion are considered on constant depth. By exploiting the holomorphic properties in the physical plane and introducing some transformations of the boundary conditions at the free surface, new exact relations and equations for the free surface only are derived. In particular, a physical plane counterpart of the Babenko equation is obtained. This article is part of the theme issue ‘Nonlinear water waves’.
